I play Heroes V once
my fav is the humans(not sure wad is the name :p)

Heroes V have 2 exp pack right?
Hammers of Fate and Tribes from the East
I haven't play the later...

btw why is this topic soooo... quiet?

Because I believe not many people play this game.

Anyway I like Academy (wizards) the best. It's a very strong faction in terms of ranged attack, and the best part is that wizards (Academy heroes) are very flexible on which magic they would like to learn. However I played all factions already and all are equally strong and imbalanced if played properly. The most imbalanced late-game faction would most probably be Necropolis (undead).

Humans have strong damage (might) but in magic they are limited because they don't have special skills that can boost their magic.

BTW you're right there are 2 expansion packs of HOMM5. In Hammers of Fate the race of dwarves (Fortress) is introduced, and in Tribes of the East the orcs (Stronghold) is introduced.

lol i played it a few times never seriously tho. i like the necros too caz of the necromancy and that vampires seem bugged cant remember how tho.

i used to play heroes 2 alot and the vampires if my memory serves me right kept growing in number like the skeletons (necromancy ftw!)..or was it that the vampires were unkillable unless u killed them all in one hit..ahh been so long sry =[

I think a lot of people are going to agree with me on this. It's the Necromancy skill that makes Necropolis so imba. When the Necromancer (undead hero) fights a battle with living creatures and he wins, ie all the living creatures are killed, he gets to resurrect them as undead creatures and adds them to his army. The later the game, the more powerful his Necromancy skill becomes. Therefore I've played games where Necromancers can roam the map with almost 1000++ skeleton archers . In ToTE you get to choose what undead creatures to resurrect (with a limit imposed). It's like a free barracks with Necromancy. Sometimes some Necromancers learn Summoning Magic and get the spell Raise Dead which makes Necropolis even more imbalanced because the hero can keep resurrecting killed Undead in battle.

That said, Undead creatures have very low hp (compared to other factions), low damage and Necromancers don't always specialise in magic skills to do further damage. A large stack of undead creatures could be easily removed with a spell or 2 from a Warlock (Dark Elf hero) - the most powerful damage spells belong to them and undead creatures always have lowish magic resistance.

If you bought the HOMM5 without any expansion you should follow the Human campaign which features Isabel and the Griffin Empire.

I played HOMM5, too. My favourite race is Undead. Just get about 1k skeleton archers and they are able to kill almost anyone.
I stopped playing it as the first expansion does not work like it should do.

Sometimes I love to use Warlock aka dark elves as their Destructive Magic + Irresistible Magic is too hard to handle. A dark elf hero can easily bomb away 400-500 skeleton archers on his own without using his armies.

I used to play it with my roommate alot. We'd have a little sight to show who's turn it was, I'd play my turn when u got up in the morning and when I'd come back in the afternoon, it was my turn again! lots of fun!

anyway, I always was the Wizards (atleas I think... the ones who ride elephants) nice passive skills and boosters.

Lol, our minister of finance (in the Netherlands) said in a populair tv show here, to the question "what do you do when your not working?" that he played alot of HOMMV
