True Love [Fanfic]

True Love

I first met her at the evening of my birthday. Her blond hair flowed down from her body like a silky thread. She was wearing a silk dress, grey in colour. Whenever she smiled, it made my heart skip a beat. Her eyes formed a crescent when she smiled and I could see the slightest dimples. It was then when I asked her to dance.

I approached her and asked for her name.

"Cinderella", she responded.

I grabbed her hand and looked her straight in the eyes, asking her for a dance. She smiled and quickly accepted.

We danced for an eternity, somehow like time was frozen. The clock struck eleven times, yet no one noticed. We were too focused on each other.

She looked at the clock just moments before midnight. Fear filled her eyes and she ran off, down the stairs and onto the road. My heart cried out, like Cupid had wrapped his pudgy little hands around it and squeezed as hard as he could. I was devastated. She had left without even saying goodnight. I chased her down the stairs, yelling her name.

It was not until she was gone that I noticed she had left behind a silver slipper. Of course, I hired all of the best men to look for the wearer of this shoe. Fate was not on my side, it was like she had disappeared. I looked everywhere but could not find the magnificent bearer of this slipper. I looked for her day and night.

One day, when faith in finding her was getting dangerously low, my men and I approached a cottage. The cottage was beat and out of shape. The ceiling had many holes in it, taped up to prevent rain from entering. The front door was hanging from its hinges, almost falling off completely. My men knocked on this door, and it seemed to take forever for someone to answer. I twas the ugliest creature I have ever seen, a hideous monster barely resembling a human.

The monster stuck out her face and said : "Yes?"

I answered : "I'm just looking for a moment of your time, madam. I'm looking for the owner of this slipper."

She cried : "Come, my daughter! The prince is in town and is looking for the owner of this slipper!"

Two even more hideous beasts appeared at the doorway, and seemed to tear at each other to be the first to try on the slipper. Neither would fit into the slipper, but both tried to cram their feet inside. Once their toes had blisters and were bleeding, they stopped trying and started crying.

I was worried, as this was the last house in town. I asked : "Do you have any more daughters to try on this shoe?"

The beast seemed to think for a moment and then cried out : "It's not possible, but I do have a step-daughter. I have no doubt she won't be the owner."

A girl dressed in nothing but rags stepped to the doorway. She gently stuck her foot out and tried on the slipper. It was a perfect fit! I cried out in joy, seeing that I have finally found the beautiful woman I danced with that night.

I immediately got down on my knees and asked her to marry me. With a look of doubt on her face, she said yes. It was the best day of my live. I had finally found true love.
