Question About Juxtapose

When your using Phantom Lancer, is the chance to clone per hit? or per unit u hit, most people use manta style for easier clones, but if you could stack it with Battle Fury wouldnt it be really fast? What im saying is, is the chance on attack? or on hit.

On hit. When you score a J-hit that little purple thing comes up and an image spawns.
