The Creep Block
Posted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 9:00 amAnybody do the creep block? It's a great technique early game if you manage to pull it off. But you have to have some really accurate right-mouse clicks to do it. It's good for Noobs and Pros alike...
The creep block is simple. When you start the game, you walk in front of your creeps to try to slow them down as much as you can so that, when the enemy creeps and your creeps meet, the enemy creeps will be closer to your first tower. Doesn't seem much, but it helps a lot to gaining the first level. Walk in a Zigzag motion in front of the leading creep to slow them down easiest. Although i wonder...
Does size of a character make a difference? Or is the size of the character the same for everyone...The heroes i found best at doing this are the Cavalier-type heroes. (Luna Moonfang and Mirana Nightshade, Abaddon, and Nessaj are good creep blockers)

we have been doing that on our place for quite some time now... annoys your opponents when the creeps meet at your side of the tower... works best on the lower lane for the sent side and the top lane for the scourge...
i noticed that winged characters are the best for this kind of maneouver [jakiro, viper, necrolyte]... kinda hard to do without boots though... XD

Its hard to do without boots, but if you can, that'll really slow your creeps down hehehe...

Hard to do without boots?
It's actually more effective to do without boots.
That is..
IF you get to the front of the creeps first.
*shrug*
I can block the lower Sentinel lane effectively.
Me and the creeps are just halfway between the second and first tower while the enemy creeps are already attacking the first tower.

Yup. That trick is quite good. 1 to make ur enemies fight nearer to ur tower. 2 to counter if ur enemies do the same. Best creep blocker: 1. Earth shaker. Fissure the 'door' when the creep has already just been released. 2. Any blinker. If u are run away(nb: v3)
by the creeps, simply blink to in front of them. || Agree with yukino, better done without boots. || anyway, I dont think that's a good idea to block too long, as u will lose some hp of ur 1st tower & u will even not get the exp from the 1st wave. || Actually it's easy to be done at all lane as long as u know their path._________________

It's quite easy to do with most heroes, except for the ones with smaller collision size, like Tiny, Rikimaru, or Bounty Hunter, but once you get the feel of it, it will pay off.
@ yukino_silvermaine:
Wouldn't that be a bad idea? I mean, if they're already attacking your tower, and you're still halfway between the first 2 towers, then there's a chance that you wouldn't be able to get at least 1 creep exp...

It actually takes 4-5 hits before a melee creep dies.
And you see them approaching the tower anyway.
If I do, I leave my creeps and rush towards my tower so I can reach the 1000 AoE EXP range. It's fine even if I don't get the last hit.
Also, it's a good idea if you have an ally. Block your creeps. If the enemy creeps are approaching, ask your ally to lure them past the first tower and to your creeps.

hard to do without boots coz u need xtra ms in rounding your creeps... note that if one creep escapes u then the whole creep blocking is ruined...

creep blocking?
good one if you're going for an early kill or first blood since
it gives you mor space to move...

Easier without boots because you have more control.
If you let one creep escape, then that means your creep block failed.
