The Rise & Fall Of Abaddon - My first Fanfic!

The Rise & Fall of Abaddon

Chapter I: The Paladin and the Frost Ranger

Many have heard the story of Abaddon, the death knight, his presence soothed the most tense ally, and could kneed fear into even the solemn hearts of the undead. The life of a hero could be perused until the end of time, and you’d find the solitary example to be of Abaddon, the Lord of Avernus.

“You’ve been a thorn in my hide for too long, Lord of Avernus. To think I know everything about you. You’ve slain hordes of my warriors, almost changed the course of history in Azeroth and yet, your legacy will wither away in time… This is the end, thou shalt not receive a glorious death, romanticized in storybooks, death is not of that folly, and not even the powers of mine you’ve used against me can stop it!”

Hordes of undead beasts huddle around the frozen throne, as cold as bone is the voice permeating; a corrupted sense of relief is shared by Ner’Zhul and his minions commences meanwhile the ghastly shadow of Mortred eclipses the drowning sunlight in the horizon, carrying a large, clumsy glaive. A risible grin echoes across the faces of many familiar evil faces, the phantom assassin eyes the lich king, knowing it is time for the finish.

The blade drops down with the heroes head, an intense mimicry of empty euphoria on the undead’s faces personify the seemingly hollow vessels of the lich king. A mess of blood tarnishes the crystal floor below.

We now relocate to the very beginning of the great paladin’s leadership in the sentinel. 28 years before the end of the Defence of the Ancients, an event that shook the world and broke all boundaries, a war to end all wars. Unsurety was rife, Abaddon’s future could still go in any direction.

It was a fine day, to say the least. Perfect conditions for war, and a fragment of war was this day to become. Abaddon was a fighter at heart. No, correction, a prodigy at heart. Earlier that day, he and a paltry force of 20,000 various members of the alliance sect of the sentinel (humans, gnomes and dwarves) set off to rescue the night elven ranger, Abaddon’s second-in-command, and most discreetly, lover. The mission weighed heavily upon his heart, as it would to anyone, but Abaddon found himself in a state of confusion and fright.

At the short twenty years of his life, the black haired, green eyed man had his share of experiences, whether they are good or bad. Being a stoic paladin, and a soldier at that, gave him an immense sense of self-realization. He was proud of who he was. He was happy with his life; a life dedicated in serving the holy light, but the absence of his love drained him daily.

Bringing back Traxex the frost ranger, his former team-mate and the woman that had so long ago captured his heart, back to safety. He had sported a crush for her as a teenager which extended with her responding in a similar fashion. Two fighters grew together as people and defenders, and as nature would have it, they grew to love each other.

Despite everything, Abaddon could not shake a sense of something wrong, a uneasy, nauseous feeling like watching yourself knock over a glass of milk, only permanent.

“Maybe it’s the upcoming battle, after all, I will be rescuing Traxex, the love of my life” he thought, in a bright, spontaneous way – ignoring the obvious attitude one would expect him to have. But this was not right, Abaddon and Traxex had a spiritual link, but it felt tampered, tainted, and Abaddon did not like that one bit.

Chapter II: Tales of Theramore Isle Part 1

It was a time of great uncertainty for the enemies of the scourge, Jaina, the archmage, had returned from the defence of the world tree. Arthas, had joined with Ner’Zhul into a single, immortal entity and the races of Azeroth felt a strange bond. For Abaddon and Traxex, it was rubbish in their minds, as hormones ran wild, the Royal guild for gifted students became a community in bare months from being opened.

This shy yet, determined girl had the looks in her favour, with slitted, chocolate pudding eyes. Her fine, straight, neck-length hair could be best described as tame, and was worn in a handsome, precise style. The girl had lightly tanned skin, her temperament was modest and innocent. Her name: Traxex!

She was walking home after finishing up some remedial training. Gawking around the city, despite the combined efforts of orcish and dwarvern builders, was still a work in progress.

“Was it only eleven months ago? It seems like we’ve been here in Kalimdor for a lifetime!” Traxex thought, with a pale smile.

“Trax!” said an impatient, playful voice – it was Maria, a good friend of hers
This girl had beady grey eyes that were like two silver coins. Her luxurious, straight, mocha-coloured hair was worn in the style of a snail shell. This girl had a fixture to be a friend of Traxex, pale skin, a wasp-like build – she was almost as pretty as Traxex, but was better pronounced.

“Maria! What are you doing here?” She gasped out, shocked to see her. Maria was supposed to be in charge of the local jungling council the “Order of the Dominator”, making sure villagers were not attacked by vicious animals.

Maria caught up with Traxex and took one of her arms. “Now that My guild union approved holidays are on, it’s time to do something we all need to catch up on… Business” Maria announced.

“What business?” Trax asked, completely clueless.
“Shopping, the best kind. You need some new clothes, Missy!” Maria happily said.

“Why? My clothes are just fine,” She protested.

“Not for a date. A certain hottie we know has been asking us for advice about dates. We know he is going to ask you out,” Maria grinned at her.

She began to blush, “Who is this guy?” hoping for a certain man, and praying it wasn’t a few others.

Maria chuckled in reply, “Just the guy who’s been secretly sending those secret admirer letters and gifts, the guy that makes you faint when he’s near you and…”

“Oh… dear…” Traxex’s blush deepened as she began to hyperventilate, then pass out.

Hours later, after a subsequent awakening a endless shopping, Abaddon had also made his preparations.
As Traxex left the store, It was only fair that Maria received a hug and thanks. Maria wished Traxex good luck on her date, and disappeared.

“Hey, Trax!”
Traxex knew the voice, her face sponged up bright red, trying to hide it, she though. “No fainting, No Blushing! He’ll think you’re weird or worse… wanting to actually go on the date!” Traxex shivered a deep breathe as she turned around “Abaddon! How are you doing?” Yeah, not even an extra breath!

“I’m great, Trax. How are you feeling? It must be nerve racking being an ambassador to Thrall.” He was starting at her with his bright blue eyes, looking a little nervous. She figured he was a little nervous, “It’s more nerve racking to be around you” She sheepishly thought.

“It’s nothing once you get to know him, Orcs really are intelligent creatures, it’s just the greed of Ner’Zhul and Gul’Dan that created such a stereotype” Traxex said, thinking “Aahhhh! This is what Maria said about being too eager to impress! Ive got to tone it down” Though she secretly doubted it would make the slightest difference in the outcome of her and his relationship.

He took another deep breath, calming himself for the obvious words to come, “Do you want to go out sometime, Traxex!? Just to get to know each other better, maybe over early dinner?”

“Dinner would be…” Trax said, hoping to retract her words “Yes, I would really enjoy that. I’d love to go out, Abaddon!”

Abaddon abruptly gave her a huge smile. “How about tomorrow night?”

“Sure, at about five?”

“Okay, I’ll meet you at your house at five.”

“Great! See you then” Trax exclaimed.

He nodded, understanding, “I can’t wait. I’ll see you tomorrow” smothering her for what would be the last hug they would have as friends.

Both blushing teens depart, shaken and filled with delight. A little way along the opposing end of the street, they both silently congratulate themselves. Both look back when they hear the rustling sound of each others cheer, blush and keep walking. They wouldn’t have cared if the whole world saw, though.

Chapter III: Tales of Theramore Isle Part 2

A magnetic, purple ray hanged above the world, a beautiful dusk. Both sides of the story sensed that tonight, was most certainly, going to be a good night (Tonights gunna be a good good night!!! I know that we’ll have a ball!). The malice of the night, the evil in the shadows, the pause of current affairs – meant nothing.

There she was her long legs, loosely breathing against her flowing, beige & purple dress. She really knew how to dress; mind you, he’d only seen her in battle fatigues, unfortunately was forced to remind himself.

“Abaddon!”

“Traxex, you look, bloody amazing!” Blurted Abaddon, realising the somewhat unruly manner of his words, he mused the hate of his bluntness.

“Haha! That’s okay Abaddon, I don’t mind at all, actually I think it’s kinda cute” Faintly smiled Traxex.

We could now see Abaddon and his ware, he’d certainly put a lot of (somewhat wasted) time into dressing up nicely, which was definitely not his thing. He wore a silky black vest laced with beige texturing, and even Trax was impressed.
Slightly blushing, “C’mon, I’ve booked a nice restaurant and they’ve got a strict policy!”

Abaddon took her by the hand and dragged her along, though keeping up with him (and being dragged along) was quite un-gentlemanly of him, she accepted the fact he would really never be that type of person, and decided not to care for superfluous things as such. Though it would usually quite bother her.

They burst through the door, she had a split second to read the name of the place and she immediately cried disaster “Hot Pot ‘n’ Barbecue House, not what I’d call a dress worthy restaurant” She thought, the night was already getting on her nerves, but she calmed herself down at the fact of being with Abaddon.

I happened to be quite disappointing in the “superfluous sense” consuming time, food and conversation. They spent the night talking about the various subjects of life in Theramore, and their old homes.

As he walked her back home, the hue of the moon was blocked by a rabble of trees, it was quite apparent Traxex was in a bad mood (somehow) and as they strutted idly outside her home, talking, Traxex tripped and fell face-first - Abaddon just had to chuckle slightly, but enough for Traxex to hear it, and blow her top.

“That’s it! Why can’t you be like you’re supposed to!? First of all your manners are crummy at best, you can’t treat me like a lady, and I know I don’t appear to want constant smothering and sweet talk, but at least show some respect, taking me to a Barbecue house? What kind of...”

It only took a moment, an unexpected, raw moment of bliss. A permanent, stamp of adolescent metamorphosis, their first kiss. Traxex looked for ways to push him away, tell him he was not good enough and call the whole thing off, but it wasn’t going to happen.

Chapter IV: Tales of Theramore Isle Part 3

A crisp blue sky ran across the landscape, married to the cold winter day, the elegant morning had captured the heart of two young lovers (lovers in the “love” sense, not the unsavoury one, if there was to be a lemon, I’d let you in on it XD).

“Six months!? It’s already been six months!” Thought Abaddon, they’d been training for the last three hours, it comes to our attention, Traxex and Abaddon were sitting in the welcome shade of a tree.

“Say Traxxy” (the affectionate nickname he’d given her) he said, while yawning and idly fondling her. “You must spend like… Ten hours in front of the mirror each morning!!!” He ridiculously said, in a very immature sounding voice.

“Say Ab… Isn’t that impossible!? Unless I can borrow time… like some people I know” She was used to his mocking, always finding ways to spoil his fun. It was their thing. That was what he liked about her; mind you, he liked ALL of her.

It was barely after a few sentences and a lip kiss, did this break turn into a full blown make-out session. The couple quickly fell to the ground, lathering each others backs with their hands, hungry for passion. Popping lips and clashes of tongues, both attendants were not going to leave this event any time soon.

“HEY! HEY! HEY! Get a room you two! This is a public place! There are innocent children here… Like me!” It was the irritating, though loved voice of Maria, who’d witnessed this relationship from day one.

The two quickly release their grips and look up, quite flushed and embarrassed. Though, it was obvious, Maria was definitely the most dirty of the three.

“Maria, if you had even the slightest bit of innocence, then how could I kiss like this!? Don’t blame us for” Traxex stopped suddenly, remembering the time she would try her best to cover up a statement like that, but being with Abaddon had changed her.

“What have you done to my poor, innocent friend? Abaddon!? Roared Maria, with a sarcastic, devilish glare.

“Ahhhh!!! I’m sorry! Don’t hurt me!” replied Abaddon with a smile, covering himself with his hands, musing defending himself from an attack.

“You sure didn’t help in the matter, hypocrite” Traxex said, to Abaddon’s defence.

The group continue talking until the light fades.
