anyway my question is : does armor protect from all attacks to a hero or do some attacks, like targeted nuke spells and item effects...completely bypass armor??

Armor reduces the damage taken from attacks.

Armor reduces the damage taken from some spells, but I am quite sure that there are more.

I am sorry but these are the only ones I can name:

-Suicide Squad, Attack!
-Laguna Blade
-Finger of Death
-and maybe some other "instant damage" spells

yes armor protects the hero from attacks...
but there are nukes that bypass armor..
like shadow strike,Doom,Poison nova and viperstrike.. i think..
i think they are called chaos damage.. dunno..
