Dota As A Seperate Game?
Posted: Tue Jul 03, 2007 4:44 amDo you guys think it could be possible for Dota to break away from Warcraft and become like it's own game?
or does Blizzard own all of the maps made from the editor?
That would be awesome if there was a stand alone Dota game! I would buy it....
There could be like a story mode and everything! (although I'm not quite sure how that would work...)

I think that's not kewl...
as even though we all r interested in dota to be created as a story,
Maybe Icefrog just convinces Blizzard to make a new bonus story.
But making a seperate dota game may just make other dota players lose their interests till they get a new version.[i mean poor common cafe players] thnx
I think ur thought is cool. But it may be very dangerous!!! Thnx

Lets be honest, the coding involved in dota is nothing compared to the kind of coding that would be required to create a whole new game, it would be too expensive to make, meaning it would cost money to get it/play it. Nobody would play it. The good thing about DotA is that is free, that is where it gets its popularity, it would lose it all if it became its own game.
I do admit though, they could fix a few problems with movement around obstacles which are built into warcraft.

he is right it would take way too much money for it to be made and it would lose most of its fan base just on the fact that its not free and that would mean it's not really dota any moreLets be honest, the coding involved in dota is nothing compared to the kind of coding that would be required to create a whole new game, it would be too expensive to make, meaning it would cost money to get it/play it.
