Special uses of Mantastyle
Posted: Sun Jul 30, 2006 1:46 pmThe many uses of manta style (applies to slithices skill split image as well)
First the ordinary facts
1. Escape
2. Mana Burn
3. Confusion
4. Extra damage due to your images
Now for the Special uses of manta style by taking advantage when in splitting mode (The whole whirly, blurry, shaky, splity upy, thing)
It makes you invincible for 1 sec.
Meaning if you were hit by poison nova or any type of negative buff that is stuck on you just activate manta style and poof the poison is gone, since you are invincible when activation manta for 1 sec.
You can even avoid assassinate or any other type of direct 1 shot spells like stun, finger of death, stomp, etc but not like spells like epicenter, though you are 1 second damage less of an epi.
I find avoiding assassinate and stuns much easier though, just time it right, I don’t count just gut instinct. And yes I have failed a couple of times but when your life is on the red and yet avoid the assassinates killing blow……….priceless……
Corny facts
When in metamorphosis or avatar mode and then you activate manta you go back to being a melee or back to being a midget.

Yes, Manta is one of the versatile items out there. Both being offensive and defensive item, it's pretty useful.
Don't forget that your images gets all auras and has most passives too, so having 3 Necrolytes w/ Diffusion Aura all around your enemies will effectively decrease their whole team's physical attacks.

Hmmm...never thought that manta can be that useful with necro.
Thanks Honya.
Oh and the Radiance aura also works on images^^

Yep, all auras work, but doesn't stack. The area of effect of the aura expands, but the damage/effect does not though.

is it true that when using manta style on ranged heroes, the feedback effect does not take effect? because this is what i observed when i use this item..
if this is true, then there is a bug on manta style.. because when i use manta style on ranged heroes, then activated it to duplicate, there is a random chance that either of the illusions or the true one will have a feedback effect..
can you help me clear this up?

Yup.. I dnt knw if they included that bug fix when they created 6.35b.. I only read about the slight agi enhancement on Manta Style.. Only the true ( Hero ) can benefit from Feedback.

Yup Steve-O is right only the true range Hero will benefit from feedback. And unless changed in 6.35 a melee hero and his images will benefit from feedback.
It's not a bug in actuality but a hardcoded program between a range attack and melee attack, it actually has the same concept when it comes to skadi were if a melee hero uses it it's an orb effect. If a range uses it it's only partially an orb effect and you can still use other orb effects with little consequence but not all.
Example:
You have sange and yasha with 10% maim and skadi. As long as you are range the only time Sange and Yasha will override skadi is when maim triggers meaning as long as maim does not activate again on the next attack skadi will activate.
How to explain all this...no idea^^
All I can say is in the original warcraft campaign...frost is used only by ranged heroes and feedback by melee heroes. Oh and if memory serves me well in the original warcraft I have never seen a ranged image.
By image in the original I mean no damage what so ever but just for confusion type of imagery done only by the blademaster.
So pretty much it's hard to reprogram the semi hardcoded programs for the benefit of the dota map without creating some bugs of chaos and confusion. But who knows maybe Icefrog will find a way to solve that. That or make melee share the same fate as the range when it comes to feedback to balance it out^^
Oh and the manta is now 18 agi not the original 12 agi

I seem to remember that it works on Vengeful Spirit's images

Manta style with Radiance is also good cause Illusions will deal Immolation Damage. Heroes like Phantom Lancer is good with Manta Style cause his other illusions will also burn mana.
