when i play as phantom lancer I amd always too scared to use up diffusal blade charges.....

my questions

1.) What happens when you use up all the charges?
2.) How many charges do i need to make mana style with it?
3.) What do the effects do (steal opponents mana?)
4.) how can i regen health using mask of madness when orb offects don't stack (are there any alternatives to helm of dominance and mask of madness that will work alongside mana style?)
5.) Any recommended item builds for phantom lancer?

1) when you use all your charges then u havn't more charges
2)Isn't important you can make it with 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 charges
3)When u use diffusial blade you slow down your enemy and debuff his buff
like God's strenth or Broodmother's ultimate
4)Vladimirs is alternative
5) Item build

HoT = Heart of Tarrasque (spellcheck :P)
BoT = Boots of Travel

BTW the reason Vladamir's Offering works with Manta's mana burn is beacause Vlad's lifesteal is an aura, not an orb effect. Orb effects do not stack so if you ever feel you need a lifesteal with another orb effect such as mana burn, then Vlad's is the way to go.

i want to answer your questions:

1.) What happens when you use up all the charges?

nothing happens, only you can't purge anyone anymore

2.) How many charges do i need to make manta style with it?

any charges, you can even make it right after you just bought diffusal blade

3.) What do the effects do (steal opponents mana?)

it purges someone, slows him down, just like the ultimate skill of gorgon (medusa). it removes buffs from someone.

Manta style works like magina's skill, drains an enemy's mana on each attack. also works for melee images, so manta will be a good choice for Phantom Lancer. imagine a lot of attacks from images that will remove someone's mana constantly

4.) how can i regen health using mask of madness when orb offects don't stack (are there any alternatives to helm of dominance and mask of madness that will work alongside manta style?)

do you mean a lifesteal effect? vladmir's offering should be your choice, since it is an aura lifesteal effect, not an orb effect. but vladmir's offering won't work on images (they won't steal HP)

5.) Any recommended item builds for phantom lancer?

(well the item build said before is already good)
Heart of Tarrasque
Manta Style
Boots of travel
Butterfly

(actually you should buy items that boosts your stats, not plainly boosts your HP, mana, armor, or attack)

no, its a waste of money, only the naga herself will get the ias
that would tell everyone "hey, im the real one"(if you play on bnet dont care about that, no one will ever recognise the difference, but against some more experienced and more skilled players, try to avoid it)

better get some stats because your images will also benefit from that

just get the items the other ones already mentioned, thats all you need, most games will be over befor you could farm that much.....

All the questions have been answered unless you got more lol. The strategy guides here at DS are good too and show some different ways you could play Phantom Lancer besides the common Manta build.

can try basher and sny or skadi build.
Illusions do fake bashes (only show the stun special effect but nothing happens to the target) but fake bashes do extend the length of the real bash. SNY and skadi do not work on illusions but the effect do not stack so it does matter. Cripple last 4 sec and it may not be enough. SNY and SKadi gives good stats too.

1) nothing really happens, the effects of the diffusal blade is still the same, it's just that you can't purge anymore. (Diff blade shouldn't really have charges, argh it should just be active IMO)
2) As I said, charges don't matter. Diffusal blade isn't a consumable so it won't have any negative effects or it won't go away, the only bad thing is when you have about 0 charges left, then you can't use purge. Well , you could still use it as an ingredient for manta style (as explained in many posts above).
3) It's like a black king bar, it negates your buff when used on allies. But when used on enemies, it will remove their buffs, such as god's strength for sven. It will also slow, which is great for if you are permabash trying to catch up with fast guys like riki or gondar (supposedly high AGI's..)
4) vladmir's offering, great auras there.
5) i don't have much knowledge about phantom lancer, but i'll discover his powers soon later, as I am mastering other heroes of my own using the awesome guides here you should check out at dotastrategy. Plus, I thought this topic was about diffusal blade, so I can't answer this one.
