Jaeson Ryla - the Deepwoods Sniper

Posted: Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:52 am

Range: 550 | Move Speed: 285
Primary: AGI
Str: 17 + 1.6 | Agi: 20 + 3.3 | Int: 17 + 1.4
Damage: 40 - 55 | HP: 473 | Mana: 221
HP Regen: 0.76 | Mana Regen: 0.69
Attack Speed: 1.50 | Armor: 0

At one time, Jaeson was an archer for city of Lordaeron, and he was known to rival any elf when it came to his skills with the bow. He lived a happy life up until the betrayal of Arthas and the death of King Tirinas. As the city fell into ruin, Jaeson left and started his life anew in the deepest parts of the Forest. There, he honed his skills to an even higher degree, learned new ways to combat both living and undead foes, and found a way to use the terrain to his advantage. Now this horrfyingly sharp-eyed archer stands in defense of the World Tree. With bow, and arrow in hand, Jaeson shall bring down the Lich King. As the elves sometimes say... "One Shot, One Kill."

Point Blank Shot
Though Jaeson is mainly skilled in taking out enemies from far away, he is more then capable of using the same skills in close range. The difference is, firing from point blank means his arrows lose less of thier power through flight and deal more damage.

[1] 10% more damage to enemies within a 200 AoE
[1] 16% more damage to enemies within a 250 AoE
[1] 25% more damage to enemies within a 300 AoE
[1] 38% more damage to enemies within a 350 AoE

Passive

Note: Makes Melee heroes less likely to come after you

Poison Arrow
By using different plants from the forest, Jaeson can make a deadly toxin that can coat his arrows. This poison can be quite deadly, but poses no risk to Jaeson. Only a fool uses a weapon that he can't use without hurting himself.

[1] Deals 6 damage per second for each arrow. stacks up to 4 times. Poison Lasts 3 seconds.
[2] Deals 9 damage per second for each arrow. stacks up to 5 times. Poison Lasts 3 seconds.
[3] Deals 13 damage per second for each arrow. stacks up to 6 times. Poison Lasts 3 seconds.
[4] Deals 18 damage per second for each arrow. stacks up to 7 times. Poison Lasts 3 seconds.

Mana Cost: 10/15/20/25
Cooldown: 1/1/1/0

Prone Position
Jaeson's range is scary to begin with, but if he takes the proper time to steady himself and aims carefully, his arrows can fly much farther. The problem with this is, he cannot attack as fast in this position or escape if an enemy were to find him.

[1] Increases range by 30%. Slows Attack Speed by 75%. Reduces Movemen Speed by 60%. Increases range of Point Blank Shot by 100.
[2] Increases range by 50%. Slows Attack Speed by 70%. Reduces Movemen Speed by 55%. Increases range of Point Blank Shot by 150.
[3] Increases range by 70%. Slows Attack Speed by 65%. Reduces Movemen Speed by 50%. Increases range of Point Blank Shot by 200.
[4] Increases range by 90%. Slows Attack Speed by 60%. Reduces Movemen Speed by 45%. Increases range of Point Blank Shot by 250.

Casting Time of 3 seconds. Can be used with Poison Arrows.

Mana Cost: 0
Cooldown: 10

Concealment
One thing that a good sniper needs to know is how to hide from his enemies. This is no exception for Jaeson. By using dirt and vegetation, Jaeson can campflauge himself, thus allowing him to hide in plain sight. The problem is, he cannot use this camoflauge and move around, and when standing, the best it can do is make it difficult for the enemy to hit him.

[1]
While in motion: Gives 5% Evasion.
While Standing: Gives 25% Evasion.
While in prone Position: 4 Seconds till Full Concealment.
[2]
While In Motion: Gives 10% Evasion.
While Standing: Gives 30% Evasion.
While in prone Position: 3.5 Seconds till Full Concealment.
[3]
While In Motion: Gives 15% Evasion.
While Standing: Gives 35% Evasion.
While in prone Position: 3 Seconds till Full Concealment.

Lasts for 90 seconds or until you are attacked.

Casting Time: 6/5/4
Mana Cost: 100/150/200
Cooldown: 300/240/180

Note: Full effect comes while in prone position. When in Prone position, Concealment gives full invisibility. Does not work when you are Stunned, or Disabled. Evasion will not stack with Butterfly. Full Concealment is not broken by attacking, but the path of the shot can give your position away.

Hey there! Say hello to Bard Man's newest monsterous hero. Hope you enjoy looking him over as much as Bard Man enjoyed making him. *Deep Breath. Exhale* Feels good to be back in full swing! Cool

Edited: Changed his stat gain and range along with some minor edits in the decriptions for each skill.

Very good hero.

Questions:
Why do archer heroes never have, intentive damage? Why are they all having passive buffers?

Comment: It's like Clinks or Drow Ranger, but a better version.

Very Happy

Thanks for your comment, and Bard Man's not sure why. It just seemed like the natural way to go whe Bard Man let his mind run free.

Good synergy, ultimate seems a bit wacked with the huge cooldown and mana cost...

hey bard cat...

bard cat.. nice hero here..

one of the most balanced yet from your heroes..

btw how does the poison arrow stack? i mean it doesn't slow right? or will the 18 damage per second stack 7 times so that will deal like 126 damage..

with that mana cost and no cooldown, no can't be.. it shouldn't stack that much.. since you have there an agility hero that can fire at will with immense speed.. and with that 3.3 agi gain.. this stack will surely make him too much..

but all in all, another great hero bardcat..

You are correct, the poison will not slow.

As for the stack, Bard Man may change it of more people speak up about it.

The current updates you see however are for the submitted version for the Hero Ideas page.

Bard Man will be editing both together, so before anything big like a re-vision of a skill takes place, Bard Man will want more comments.

Oh, and thanks for saying this was balanced.

One more thing. Where'd you get your sig image? Bard Man would really like something like that.

The bard man cometh (again).... (chorus of trumpets)

On to the hero, very good and well balanced, but i agree with trench, the stacking damage is a little crazy, if one compares to huskar's burning arrows, which cap out at 60 dps (lol wont comment abou the fact that only idiots use weapons that wont hurt themselves) and when you consider how much those arrows pawn, nearly double that becomes crazy, cos if you were to max this out by level 7, you can begin to kill at will, alost unstoppably... otherwise gr8 hero

finally a new piece of work.

all pretty standard and simple but thats what we like, the spells/passives if anything are underpowered but their concept makes up for it.

wow this hero has alot of synergies. the ONE thing i dont like, is the utteruselessness of the lowerlvled prone position skill, a 165 range increase at the expense of 75% asp is not very fair, especially if you get it ealry game, when you attack slow anyways =\

but again, good synergy
