About hero guides

I just have a suggestion and I want to know what you guys think [this ain`t just for mods]
Many of us have to wait for ages until hero guides are aproved... We fully understand that you mods are human after all, not robots, but This just popped in my mind:
Forget about the pending thing and all that @#$& [you may never know the word that went through my mind] and just aprove the guides and let the "public" decide whether the guide is good or no...
OR, have you ever heard of voluntaries? I think that there would be some members who would like to help you guys in deciding the aproval of certain guides, having taken care of some facts, like the originality of the guides[google search them ], or if the certain hero has enough guides and do not need any more, or something... Because I think help is needed in this section... And I`m not the only one who`s waiting for his strategy to be aproved. Plan is simple: send a link for the volunteer, the person will analyse the guide, send an OK message to the mod in charge, and automatically aprove the guide... It would make matters a lot more different, and things would go faster...

the thing is that if strrats are not aprovd fast, changes in dota could take place..., i know an old lifestealer guide which got aproved AFTER he got remade... or strats with screenies of the old map [since the scourge side got changed a bit]

i agree with you.....actually they are already implementing that before... the time you really don't need to wait for your strat to be approved...all you need to do is create a guide and that's it...although i think they changed that scheme because more and more crap guides are created by noobs..imagine before i even saw a mirana guide with a bkb on the item so that the chanelling of starfall will not be interrupted...wierd..they don't know how to play dota at all

The main reason guides aren't automatically approved is so DS wouldn't be like all the other Dota sites that have like 1000's of guides when only a handful are worth reading.

On the whole voluntaries thing, people can be biased and may not be qualified to be a voluntary. Besides, this could actually create more work and some voluntaries may approve of a guide just because a friend made it or not approve it because they dislike the author. Get what I'm saying?

Not everyone can be trusted and by revealing guides to the voluntaries, there can be numerous issues. The voluntary may not approve the guide so they can create their own guide on the same hero with the same strategy, which leads to plagiarism that can't be caught. Also, if a voluntary gets their own guide, do you think they'll ever reject it? No, they won't so the whole voluntary thing CAN be beneficial but we don't exactly live in a perfect society filled with kind-hearted and wise people.

but it`s a matter of reading the guide and thinking if it`s useful for the newbs or not...afterall, guides are for newbs...[the new people in dota]

Well, I kinda agree... How many of the mods are required to fully read a guide and give it their vote?
Sure, this just means that the overall quality of the guides that do get approved be better, but look at the recent razor guide (you know what I'm talking about )
I guess the public vote thing could work (again, razor guide... pummeled by every single member who saw it, and now it's gone (or at least I can't see it xD))

The Razor guide was mistakenly approved so you guys can stop going nuts over it.

If you think this section needs more people to handle it, go PM a higher mod/drew. Or just wait for some other mod to see this lol. I'm ST so I don't actually look at the guides myself before they're approved so I can't really speak for the people who approve the mods so you'll have to wait a bit.

I was about to say somethin` funny, but maybe the mods would`ve been mad so I stopped :-P

yeah, it would be interesting to get some one the better players or tourney players to all review a guide that is pending and then based on their average scores, decide whether to approve the guide or not

or you could choose people randomly and amaje them feel more a part of DS

or post a guide preview so that everyone could see, at "Heroes" Section... but not to many details,it would spoil the fun...like for examle:
Guide to medusa
introduction
medusa`s pros and cons: blah blah [more after aproved]

put a poll, and see if people agree..
Now, there might be a problem, that members wouldn`t choose the guide because they don`t gree with the itembuild... As long as it`s not stupid [basherz on razor, dagon on tiny] and doesn`t have +2 oorbz that fdon`t stack, I think it`s a good guide... People shouldn`t judge guides only after the skill/item build

Not to also mention that 'mature' people do come along only once in a while.
It's 1 in a thousand. That isn't the truth nor is it exaggerated.

NOTE: I also vote for letting the public to rate on guides. But at least setup a criteria to decide which ones should be accepted. And having two separate sections would at the least let people know which ones are already accepted and which ones to consider.
