The hope of Riyuna

Bustling sounds are heard in an ancient archive as historians and scholars surfed the ancient documents. They rushed recklessly and dumped relics and all other valuable objects as they were looking for something important, something that would save them. Though sleepless and exhausted from the busy search, the news that they recall pushes them to work. One of the scholars was of old age and had not slept for a few days. He fell unconscious in his work. He saw what happened the past week, a messenger running to him, looking very concerned about something that was obviously a serious matter…

“Sir something about the lost culture has come up, a cataclysm is about to come in over a year and a half!” yelled the messenger.

His eyes opened wide, in shock. Then, suddenly a blinding light radiated from the back of the messenger. He came to see what was it, and saw the legendary angel, Riyuna. Her beauty was beyond anything he has ever seen. And her voice was like hearing a seething song that relaxes him. He felt as if he was young again. All the pains, exhaustions and troubles brought by the coming of age left him in an instant. He felt as if he was soaring up in the sky, he feels refreshing breeze blowing gently on his face.

“Now that you are tired you shall take your rest now elder” she said in a lovely voice.

His companions in the archive saw him smile gently, his face looked so relax and happy. Then he drew breath for the last time.


A few days later, there was such commotion in the local town halls. There were all murmurs and rumors about the big announcement in the two kingdoms of Leynaut and Fenderzen. As the messengers got up and started to draw the scrolls from their bags, the crowd started to break out, as the officers tended to the crowd. The messengers started announced the news…

“The recent weeks had been a busy one for the magi of the two kingdoms. And they had come up with such terrible news. Our ancestor’s ancient culture has been uncovered, their alphabet, their numeration systems and their simple way of life. But they had a system of predicting such terrible cataclysms that are caused by the sun, the moon, and the star of Rith. If the three are to align exactly in a straight line, it will cause such fierce firestorms to our land and burn our kingdoms to the ground. But do not panic as the magi had found out a way to save us from this terrible fate. Each kingdom is to anoint a young healthy virgin no older than sixteen years of age and not younger than fourteen years of age, she must have good qualities and a merciful heart. And offer her, so that the legendary angel, Riyuna can save us.”

Upon hearing this, all concerned citizens hid their daughters and locked their houses shut. But since no one was around to present, the leaders of both kingdoms resulted to raiding each house and brought back four young women, each had beauty beyond anything in the world and all were kind at heart. One them was a girl from Laynaut who is engaged to a military officer in Fenderzen. As one of the officials looked at them with such a cold stare, he noticed a shiny bauble on the girl…

“Tell me what is your name?” he said

“Umm…it’s Reiene” she replied.

“Well, Reiene we shall examine you and your companion’s values to see the two who are worthy of being Riyuna’s incarnate.” he added

The officials examined their family background, attitude towards others and morality. Out of all, they found that Reiene and Liaze are the ones worthy. But there was a problem…

“Though Reiene is the most outstanding one among them, she is already engaged to a man.”

“No! she is still the one chosen, she shall be Riyuna’s Incarnate.” said the official who clearly had an interest on her bauble.

The decision was final. Reiene was told of the news that will shatter her heart into a thousand pieces…

“Reiene, I have to tell you something important.”

“What is it? Elder?” she replied.

“It pains me to say this, but I’m afraid that you are one the of the chosen to be Riyuna’s incarnate. If you do not understand, It will mean that you cannot marry the man that you love."

“But why? Why does it have to happen to me?” she said.

“I know it’s hard, but it’s for the best. Just think of it this way, it means that your family will live a longer life because through your sacrifice, they will be saved.”

The elder may have comforted her with a hug, but he smirked a cold smile behind Reiene’s back. Finally, when the time came, Reiene and Liaze finally bid their loved ones goodbye…

“Rei, they have chosen me to be Riyuna’s incarnate, I just have to hold you tight in my arms one more time.” she said in a sad voice.

When the time came for them to be anointed, they were taken around the two kingdoms, and to the palaces. As they were taken into the palace of Fenderzen. The king remembered his memories as a child in Leynaut…
Everyone was just passing by, his stomach, empty and all of the people making fun of him. He remembered the previous king of Fenderzen, the only person whom he called his father. His mother who could not give birth took him in. He was trained with the sword and the knowledge. He was later crowned king, due to the fact that he was the only heir in line.

He thought that the people in Leynaut did not deserve salvation for they just treat the poor like dirt in his time. He ordered one of his officials to “do something about it.” Later that evening, they called for Rei, in a secret room…

“Ah…Rei, so glad you could make it. Why don’t you have a seat”

“So what is this all about?” he replied.

“I’m here to tell you about the powers of the powdered roots of Riyuna’s flower.”

“That legend has a flower named after her?”

“Yes. Now, this powder is a very potent one. It is sometimes burned with it’s petals to make a very nice smelling fume that is good for the body. It is sometimes used to spark fire like this…”

He took a piece of wood and set it on fire using the candle and used it to touch the powder on his palm. It first burned but then it disappeared. Then he blew the powder of his hand and it burst into flames.

“Nice trick old man.” he said

“Now, there is another one, it was also used to turn even the wisest of men into fools who will obey your every whim.”

“Like this”

He blew the powder on Rei’s face and hypnotized him. Then, he whispered in a cold voice. His eyes became so deep and walked out of the room with absolutely no thoughts save for the dark deed in his mind that was given to him.

One dark night, it was stormy, the only sound heard was the rain drops that were endlessly kissing the ground. A man in tattered clothes slowly walked towards the temple of Leynaut. He sneaked pass the guards and climbed up the open window Reiene’s room, and saw her past asleep. He smiled coldly at her, and sat at her bed. Then, Reiene suddenly woke up to find someone kissing her. She could not even utter a word for the person’s grip was too tight. She could not recognize the man’s face for it is too dark to see a thing. Thent he person stripped her of her clothes and raped her. She could only cry all night.

That morning, she heard the officials knock on her door. She quickly got dressed and washed her face. She opened the door…

“Ah…Reiene, still abed at this hour now that you are just anointed, you have to be careful not to get sick or anything that will cause depression so that you can be our land’s savior.”

“Ah…yes, in fact, I had such a good night.” she replied.

“Now, get down and eat.”

Over a few weeks, she lived as if nothing happened, until, morning sickness started to make itself feel real. She made sure everything is locked. Every early morning she would puke. Every day she pretended that she wasn’t feeling bad.

But no matter how hard she tried she could not hide the biggest sign, an expanding belly. One day, after a parade and a tiresome day of concealing the truth, she forgot to lock the door…

Rei was summoned before the throne…

“Ah, here is the avenger, the one who brought justice to this world.” said the king

“Sir what are you talking about?” he replied.

“Why didn’t he tell you what you did one night”

Rei was shocked at what they told him. He immediately set out for the Leynaut temple…


That morning, the officials went inside her room while she was still asleep, she was not in her blankets so the officials noticed her belly…

“What is the meaning of this?”

Her sleep was disturbed the murmurs…

“Huh, what’s going on?” she said.

“Treacherous snake I tell you! This snake has deceived us, it has committed betrayal!”

“What are you talking about?!” she replied.

“Fornication! You loose woman! You deserve death for what you’ve done.”

He violently drag her of the bed and tossed her on the floor.
“Now that was just cruel, she is pregnant, have you not noticed?!”

“My child had better be fine!” a voice was heard.

“Rei!” Reiene shouted.

“So you are the father of this unborn bastard.”

“Take back what you said!” shouted Rei

“Hmp…the only way we can all be saved now is by sacrificing him through Reiene’s own hands.”

Everyone was shocked to hear this.

“You know what you need to do Reiene.”

“Run now, Rei!” she yelled.

“Guards seize him!”

The guards chased him and caught him, he was thrown into a prison where he wasn’t fed, he was just given water. One day, Reiene visited him…

“We’re really sorry miss, but it’s the orders of the high officials.” said the guards.

“Hm…perhaps I could put that order aside.”

“We are ordered and disciplined well, we shall not accept a bribe.”

“That’s not what I meant, I heard the officials talk that Riyuna’s Incarnate has the power to void laws.”

“But it was an order, not a law.”

“Ah…but if it will do any restriction to Riyuna’s Incarnate, it must first be made into a temporary law.”

After several minutes of argument with the guards, Reiene finally got in…

“Rei, how could you do that to me?” she said

“I can’t do that, I was controlled to do so.” he replied

“I can’t kill you.”

“Do what you have to do, think about our child, before the time comes, our child is born.”

When the day came that he would be sacrificed, they took him to a cliff just of the coast. The officials gave Reiene a sword…

“You must stab him at the heart and then bathe him in the oil from the fruit of the tree of Riyuna.”

Such confusion took place in Reiene’s heart. She could not decide what to do. Then she felt her heartbeat echo through her chest. She closed her eyes gently, then opened them. Suddenly, white wings burst from her back. She gave off seething light that calmed everyone. The people around were amazed at the sight. Reiene was Riyuna’s Incarnate in mortal form. Then, suddenly flames rained down from the sky, but it fizzled as it approached the ground. But as soon as it all began it all ended.

Well, a nice one. Too m,uch emotion in it for me, a 13 yr old/2 day old dog to handle. Not good for me. Not at all. Still, i give you the highest rating possible only because thios story is good even though it is not my style, it does not matter.
