Keeper of the Light Strategy ... questions / add ons ...

I am currently working on a very comprehensive KotL guide, and I'm adding in lots of screen shots to aid with using illuminate effectively, along with ways to use fog of war to your advantage. I'm also adding in info on how to micro-manage your critters (i.e. priests / spirits) along with correctly teleporting places / pushing correctly. I was wondering if you guys, the reading audience, can add in what else you would like to see in this strat. I am adding all the obvios things like items / heroes / playstyle / etc. I just wondered if there was anything else people would want to see.

P.S. if anyone can tell me how to make / add in those little pics that move (.gif 's I believe) I would greatly appreciate it!

nope, I think that would just about cover all the things a good KotL strat would need, now the hard part will be making it.

for making gifs and things, you can use Fraps to capture vids, Windows Movie Maker to edit, Easy GIF Animator for GIF editting, Adobe Photoshop for screenshots

edit: Just thought of something, get a screenshot to show the aoe of Illuminate, would help a lot

I personally think that it could be mentioned that those priests do give the enemy money, and one should take care when pushing with only priests on an empty lane. If an enemy comes, it is in most cases preferable to walk back with the priests, unless they will be able to raze the tower. If you let the enemy kill 10 priests, he gains ~300 gp, just about as much as if he would kill a hero on your team.

So... My main point, it would be good if it was mentioned that one should be careful and not feed the enemy too much with those priests.

Priests are preferably used:
1. When your hero is together with the priests, and can defend them from enemies who try to farm on them
2. In empty lanes where there is no enemy hero
3. To help deny an allied tower
4. To help raze (and get last hit on) an enemy tower
5. To defend a lane where a large bunch of enemy creeps are pushing, if there is no one near to defend.

you should experiment with diferent item builds

sometimes guinsoo works
sometimes mjolnir
sometimes deso/cuirass
sometimes shivas
sometimes arcane/mekansm
sometimes necro
sometimes dagon

the hero is support but he can also be secondary DPS cause he ferms great, just have him adapt to the enemies and situations

Well I actually agree with pencil pusher becaus ehe can farm dagon 5 in like 15 minutes, he is a monster farmer, after an aghanim and a guinsoo all other intel items are a waste of money and eos, mkb, mjo, deso and dps items like that help him a lot with the 27% damage increase.

i look foward to a KOTL cuz honestly, i have not seen a good KOTL except for people who just ks u with illuminate... the only good part i know about KOTL is

1) Manna leak against ES, zues, ect
2)illuminate to scare people
3)push

and....

make sure u tell people to watch out for earthshaker when ur with the priests XD i did 3k dmg cuz i blinked in and ECHOSLAMMED XD

Playing KOTL at his best

I think i got what you realy need here.
Check out my last replay at tft.replayers.com

Find the replay by searching for player Mogoth.
The map is Battleground (i have chosen this one cause i could not select Dota map)

You will see my gosu usage of the KOTL. This replays shows me playing KOTL solo versus a gosu solo Storm Spirit. My team average APM is way lower than the other team's (probably like 75apm vs 125apm). Check out the great pushing, harrassing and ganking techniques. Check out the amazing resistance this build provides (i got gank by 3-4 ennemies and still get out of there alive).

From my own experience, building any items providing more power is not the solution. The best way to play KOTL is to focus on playing him as a support, pusher and farming hero.

Items to get:

Start build: 1 tango, 2 branch, 1 mana pot. and 1 ring of regen

Afterwards:

1st of all
- Boots and BoT
To maximize farming and pushing ability and providing a good way of escaping when being ganked.

2nd
- Mekanism, Kengar's pipe and cuirass
Those 3 items provide the best protection (support) for your team and will make you resistant as a rock. Remember that Kotl is really crap late game even if you get him DPS items. The best way is to keep focusing on helping out your allies become more resistant.

3rd
- Orchid of malevolance and guinsoo
Items to disable your opponents especially when playing versus late game caracters.
