we might do that sometime later once more people start participating in these seeing as we cant even get enough stories half the time. and you can always submit poems that meet the theme ^^ but in the future, we'll have a purely all poem contest. just not yet Wink

No, seriously, poetry is...well it doesn't appeal to so many people as stories. And it tends to be subjective.

Well, it depends on how you look at it. I'm not gonna write a boring poem like the one's people usually associate poetry with. I'm talk about the type of stories that you hear in rap lyrics. They tell a story in a different way than normal story telling and I find them more intriguing than books.

Thats called epic poetry - namely a cross between a storytelling and poetry. It's not straight up poetry. IF you meant that, you should have said it that way.
Aaaaand....RzfX already did this once for the last WB actualy - The end of a friend - so you can still write an epic poem on any theme at all, if you want to. This isn't a prose contest only.

Believe me, that was one incredibly hard poem to write. I mean, it's hard to make it not look like a poem you'd discuss in English class and that poem made me go on a short search within myself, if you will.

I know, I tried some poetry myself, but I usually fail when I try to write it. But, sometimes, when I do not try, when it simply comes to me, I am able to write some great poems. I cannot explain it. But, in those situations, I cannot really form the poem the way I want it to be, but as it comes to me. So I guess it's pretty hard to write a poem with a concrete story.
