Centaur with a Hood/Pipe + decent armour makes for a better tank than tide.

i think whther tide or centaur is a better tasnk depends on the game
On the surface, tide has more potential of changing the tables of the game rather than centaur. people tend to like to avoid hittitng centaur early game cause it is seen as wasting time,so much spoils the whole purpose of being a tank
Being a tank is taking not only dmg, but spells and disables for your team. A tank should have skills or dmg potential that are crucial to the game, and thus they will be focus fired.

So..... for a conclusion
Early game: Tide is hands up the winner and a better tank
Late game: Centaur has better potential as a tank, being able to dish out more dmg(a better radiance carrier) , take more physical hard hits, and being a total meatball shield:D

Manaburners. He isn't easy take down. The slow can help him escape tight situations. Maybe try slardar might work well or not. I never really tried to counter him because most people doesn't tend to play him well.

Tide is a more useful tank due to his Gush and Ravage. Centaur is more Dagger reliant than Tide. Centaur's skills discourage the enemy from attacking him which defeats the purpose of tanking. Tide's shell is defensive while Centaur's Return is offensive. Overall, Tide is better fit to play the tank role

That's just not right man...

BTW:
I think Tide would be good overall: slow and stun plus the shell and the semi-cleave. Cent has some stuff: stun & damage plus HP. Tide would do better in general at tanking because I think he's more defensive and supporting to the team than Cent, who's more offensive, in a way.

What do you mean by that. I seen a Techies on my team with well over 4000 hp and 30 armor. Also had a bfly. Built as a carrier and tank. Now let me explain.
