Rigwarl - The Bristleback

Rigwarl - The Bristleback
Rigwarl - The Bristleback
Range: 128 | Move Speed: 295
Primary: STR
Str: 22 + 2.2 | Agi: 17 + 1.8 | Int: 14 + 2.8

HP Regen: 0.91 | Mana Regen: 0.57
Attack Speed: 0.69 | Armor: 3
Although his spells seem very weak at first glance, Rigwarl is a bad hero to underestimate. Quill Spray, Viscous Nasal Goo, and Warpath all provide relatively small effects when used only once, but each ability stacks when cast multiple times. Enemies of the Bristleback will soon find themselves covered in goo and shredded by constant quill fire if they aren't careful. Quill Spray deals increasing damage with each cast on the same target, and due to its low cooldown and mana cost it can be very deadly over time. When Rigwarl sees that his enemies are sufficiently weakened, he can move in for the kill with Viscous Nasal Goo. This ability slows the target and reduces their armor, increasing the damage of Quill Spray and Bristleback's physical attack and making it impossible to escape. Furthermore, casting spells puts Bristleback on the Warpath, which increases his movement and attack speeds as he uses his abilities. Bristleback's signature skill, and where he gets his name, is his near invulnerability to attacks that strike his back. All attacks and spells that come from behind him will be heavily reduced and cause additional Quill Sprays. Engaging a strong Rigwarl who is facing away is almost always a pointless exercise.

sorry for double post, but boots of regen? why get an item that breaks when you take damage when your tanking? and does not coincide with "bristleback" at all

329 By Cannablyss 2012-03-04

everyone is ignoring his ulti, + damage, + ms + as, this guys is a dps chasing and people who solely tank are not optimising him, my build is as follows,
vlads
p treads (str)
vanguard
basher
ac
then whatever you like generally dont get this far i usually go for heavens halberd tbh

why try to add some magical damage like rad when you can increase your quills damage output with something like AC, the way I like to play is farm up then rape via tanking their whole team and absorbing all damage while facing away. That is why I would rather the armor and hp regen given by Boots of regeneration, seeing as the attack speed from treads would be wasted, travs sure but not needed for how I play, phase, well I don't need the + dmg

BoR
Wand
Vguard/Hood
Bmail/Mjollnir
AC/Heart

think about it this way, you're really tanky, every spell they cast on you tickles and traxex's arrow seems like a peashooter. If your opponents are actually decent then they know that they can just ignore you and aim for the squishy ones. Radiance helps prevent that sort of situation by drawing fire to you due to your AoE DPS and the fact that you can last throughout the whole fight. Not to mention the extra help it does when chasing and being chased. It also helps on farming.

No mana boots either lol, you rather have ring of basilius. Show some mana management.
Mana boots will just encourage spam very early game. Spam will increase wand charges.
And no, you don't "meh" at radiance. The whole point of Bristleback is well, "Bristleback". You turn your ass to your enemies and UNLEASH THE SPRAY!! And that's the kind of respect you have for them :).
I honestly do not see the use of Boots of Regeneration except for some rare occassions of juking etc.

324 By lolopo 2011-12-31

rad is a core item on him... fury is a pub item(for the spammania)... PB is a meh item(since he gonna cast spray while chasing) orb is chain lightning or deso(even a purge) he's a good hero but his main downside is that it requires a lot of skill to pull off a lane with him but against melee heroes he's a pain in the lane.. and don't get soul ring PLS(rather have mana boots)

323 By Pedo_Pandah 2011-12-31

meh @ radi

I find it hard to own with this hero with cheap items. It feels like Radiance is always a must for this guy.
