This babe is t3h 1337! Her DPS is unmatched. If you don't have any kind of diversion or a really thick skin, prepare to get rammed!

This Hero is one of the most deadly in the game. I used asdfjjj's strategy and it REALLY works! Also thank you Heaven(HH) for making Rikimaru's Strategy! I only have one question....Isn't Rikimaru ruined when their opponents buy Gem of True Sight?

juggernauts ulti could kill mortred quite easily if mortred only has around half a bar left, so probably. might wana guinsoo first just to be safe

mortred's really tough...so i require puttin on a vanguard since she is weak against spells....add a buriza 2 that..hehehe lots and lots of crit damage!! add butterfly to boost damage....u can even put a 1 or 2 cranium bashers for stun and bash purposes..

Some guy got 15 straight kills with this hero last night, it was annoying

mort is my fave hero, but i feel that a PROPERLY BUILT & LEVELED bountyhunter, bloodseeker, & troll warlord are at par with her. i wont discuss the hardy STR heroes like slithice, chaosknight, leoric, and barathum -- i wana keep this post "all agi":
..bh - his ww, jinada (specifically the evade%), and track can help him survive any encounter with mort. wats more, if mort is relatively low in hp and bh is not, bh can swoop in and hit mort with a combo (bakstab+track+shuriken) and hope for some lucky crits b4 mort recognizes the ambush. then bh can easily catch up to the fleeing mort for the kill. either way the encounter goes, bh can windwalk away alive unless he is ganked or mort has trusight
..stryg - his ultimate skil (rupture) can be his salvation and coup de grace: i recomend he shud engage mort where there are lots of creeps around. if stryg gets lo in hp, he can divert atks to the enemy creeps or weak friendly creeps to drain some hp. in dire straits, stryg can lure mort into pursuing and then hit mort with rupture AFTER mort does a blink strike. as mort givs chase, she wil lose huge hp, and stryg wil gain speed. stryg can then kill some more creeps to recharge his hp, then close in on mort for the kill. stryg's dmg is realy sizeable with a yasha(orS&Y)+bfury+bnk+80%dmgincrease(skill)combo. and its real easy to fill up his hp by cleaving thru a wave of creeps. so mort may be mort, but stryg can be any game's best herohunter
..tw: this hero can be real tough to play. for me things get easy once i hav a bfury and crys/buriza combo. the trick is to switch to melee mode, activate his ulti, then atk a blinded mort. u wil score bash upon bash, meanwhile u cause mort to miss on 40+% of her atks. if u hav s&y, so much the better for u coz u can giv chase and score a maim or two in d process. vladimirs is a nice item as well for u can last longer in battle if u hav it.
..mort vs mort?? my fave mort build has skadi or s&y in it, or even both. there's just no escaping from a mort who is equipped with skadi. what worst? a mort who shuffles between skadi and s&y orb effects, assuming the enemy can even survive repeated attacks from her in d first place!! get fury(always!!)+s&y+skadi combo, and mort wil own the game unless she gets overconfident and lets a stryg, bh, or tw bait her to death. as long as mort plays it smart, she wil own each and every game, each and every time.

Mortred's critical can be countered by the nerubian assassin's return damage. Not sure if the blade mails stack but if they do, mortred's critical will RETURN to her..........

its only a percentage returned, just get a nuker to take care of NA and at near death, shadowstrike then blink strike.

Does Buriza stack with Mortred's ulti ?

rofl this one game i was mortred and my team was mad at me because i didnt do smack, all i did was kill creeps, LOL! they didnt know the phrase " dont let mortred farm" so all they did was let me act like a loser. Enemy team said to me they were gonna win because i was the worst mortred ever, SO i picked up my pace and bought 2 divine rapiers and aegis of immortal and monkey king bar and i beat a 1v5 =X

ok let me clear this up... for all you guys who keep goin hyperstone on mort. Mort is a lot better WITH A BUTTERFLY. Gives a better chance to evade, and faster speed plus additional dmg and armor.

those are the basic items for mortred. Life leech is great on her.
If you had a satanic and a naked divine you still cant die. Has the strongest crit in game. Only people that can stop her is a permabasher with a butterfly on, or a tank like centaur, nerubian, enchantress, and terrorblade. This is all put into circumstances that both PA and his/her opponent is good, and they both have decent items.

id go PT, Radiance, Butterfly, Satanic. probably all u need, so much evasion and lifesteal. a desolator or basher or MKB might be good for increased damage

lupeman butterfly evasion doesn't stack with hers and also in your build you have 2 orbs effects.

faceless beats everyone at late game. u do know that if u can switch orb effects by puttin the one u want to work in the first slot right? a desolator is purely optional as is the other 2 other options i gave u for "increased damage purposes only"

tiny is easily defeated if ur a ranger/mage. i killed tiny multiple times as enchantress early, mid and late game. he was stupid enough to keep runnin away from me. all he had to do was buy a blink dagger and i wouldve been screwed.

I used motred to fight a friend who was using Razor... and i followed the one of the strats used in the strategy section... and no matter how many times I try, I canot defeat Razor! Motred really have to die in the hands of Razor?! Before i can unleash sufficient amount of CdG... his Razor already wacked my hp till red... any ideas?

It's really hard to kill Razor in a 1v1 game... So strong in early game cause he will harass you to death... And EVEN stronger at late game when he farmed good items... I think Silencer would be the best option when fighting Razor...

Jaroque, try to have Hood of Defiance, Buriza-do Kyanon then Shadow Strike, Blink Strike kill razor hahaha!

The Hood does NOTHING against Razor! He has only ONE spell that is Chain Lightning, Razor is more of a damage dealer than a spellcaster you know... Better get vanguard early game then get a Helm of Dom for Lifesteal then MKB for the Damage...

Still canot 1 vs 1 Razor..he still owns me purely... unless I am able to have a 100% streak on my CdG...den that Razor's is dead hehe... ALl items i have when 1 Vs'ing 1 razor except the Vanguard... Vanguard that important?

@ jimmy14, The dodge bonus from Butterfly and the mortreds natural dodge DO NOT stack in anyway. The only hero who has a form of dodge that stacks with butterfly is faceless void (because he doesnt have "official" dodge) all other heroes dodge bonuses are overridden by butterfly. However, the miss effects of riki maru's cloud, troll warlords blind etc... DO stack with butterflys dodge or other hero dodge bonuses.

Whoever said the crits between Buriza and Coup de Grace don't stack, is noob. It is possible to do a 7.5x critical or whatever ulti times buriza is. it appears as a jumbled red critical number where the ulti number appears on top of the overall critical damage.

The blur makes heros hard to see her. And also miss her. Even the tower can miss her. So powerful!!!

I think that MKB goes better for ranged hero. A blueserver player once told me.

Ow its true and in fact this hero has the most painful attack! As we all know the all agi have the most painful attcks but having the least hp. But Using this hero is unlikely not really nice. Its really too easy to counter such painful crits. A double blade mail would make dis hero deds! Having a little hp with 1??? critcal dmge. Ows 2x blademail would just bounce the damage back to mortred.. Awts Let mortred taste the bitternes of her own cits!

Putting 2x basher on mortred is such a stupid idea! Her critical strikes would dis appear due to the bashing effect of basher!

Who is the best hero to fight against she? (and win xD)

This hero is overrated. I think that a lot of heroes can kill her if you know how to play ofc.In my experience Mortred can be easily killed if you stun, hex or just nuke her. Illusions are also great against her(Manta) because she will be confused. Also buy 2-3 blade mails to make you stronger (10 armor) and damage return to counter her sick crits.

BTW I think that the best item for Mortred at the beginning is battlefury(for great farming )

The best heroes to kill her are Nerubian assassin, Phantom lancer, Slardar (all heroes with great stunlocks and illusions) and some nukers.

BTW I disagree with some of you telling that faceless void and Mortred are the strongest late game heroes. Dota is designed so there is no "strongest hero". Every hero is strong if you know how to use him, and every hero can be killed if u buy right items.Actually before Mjollnir i think that Phantom Lancer was the strongest late game hero because with Manta, Butterfly... he was unstoppable, but now with static charge it isn't very hard to kill him and Mortred also isn't with blade mails.

a critical hit means it cuts through all armour and hits the enemy where it hurts most, meaning it will cut through blademail and get no damage return. even if u stun her, u still can miss attackn her. with shadow strike and blink, it makes it very easy for her to flee or chase. shes a high dps low hp hero so a HoT will help her with that problem.

azwraith cant duplicate if he cant hit her 1/3 of the time and a Mjollnir and/or a Diffusal Blade will take care of Azwraith.
u can grab a BKB to counter Slardar from doin any real damage towards u.
nerubian assasin, all u really need is a Gem of True Sight, he cant use Vendetta for 525damage, her critical cuts through his armour and damage return :)

First of all: Have you ever played with Lancer(with Manta) against Mortred(any hero)?? If you have than u must know that lancer without hitting her have 3 illusions + him and he will have 6-8 illusions in about 3-4 sec!!! and HOW will Diffusal Blade stop Lancer if u dont know which one to hit with purge??(only solution is Mjollnir)
And HOW will gem stop NA from doing Vendeta?? He can just impale u and while u are stunned he activities Vendeta and hits u for 525!!
OK the damage return doesn't work on crits BUT crit is only 15% of her(although if u are lucky u can crit a few times at a time)attacks, and Mortred cannot kill anyone without mana (mana burn spam).
I really don't see point of buying BKB(black king bar right?)against slardar.I mean which spell do you mean to counter with BKB - ulti??And while u have Avatar it doesn't protect u from his attacks and they will keep u in stunlock(28% dodge chance is not very much and he also have Slithereen Crush + Sprint so u cannot escape with only blink strike + Shadow Strike) if slardar have 1-2 bashers + power treads...
I would say that HOT for her is waste of money at the early-mid game.I would buy HOT only if already have a lot dps items like battlefury, Butterfly, Divine...
if you want/need hp in early/mid game then buy Vanguard!!

If buriza overrides mortreds 4.0x critical on occasions, than why do people suggest to go mkb? MKB also overrides mortreds 4.0x critical, except it does it 30% of the time and gives a measly 100 bonus damage instead of 4x (700+ bonus damage) OR 200+ in the case of buriza.

Is items like bfury, stygian, and possibly bfly the best items then?

well to answer my own question:

After testing, it seems that critical strike chances are always taken into consideration before bash chances. If you have 6 MKB's, you have a 1 - (1-0.30)^6 chance of dealing 100 bonus damage (88%), but if and ONLY if you did not deal a critical strike. So in the case of PA, 15% of the time you will crit for 4x, and 88% of the rest of the time you will deal 100 bonus damage, resulting in the following (6 MKB's):

15% - 4x damage
75% - 100 bonus damage
10% - normal damage.

Seems MKB is the item of choice for PA then.

why not buy one more butterfly instead of buying MKB??? it gives 60% + in attack speed

Well, bfly is a great item, but it doesn't pay off for its dmg very well... For 1500 gold less you can get MKB.

MKB is by far without a doubt the best bang for your buck for damage. Bfly's 30% evasion is pretty much negated by Blur anyway.

9 times out of 10 mortred is behind someone chasing them trying to kill them, in which case attack speed is irrelevent because its hit once run for awhile hit once run for awhile. Big hits are better than attack speed for melee heroes, while attack speed is great for ranged heroes.

Deadly. She'll wipe the floor with your face thats if you know how to use properly. A good late game hero though.

a battle fury would solve ALL ur farming needs.

Ogre magi + troll warlord are her best allies. +88% attack speed.

Try Mjollnir and Battle fury. Farms so well and heaps of damage. Then all you need is a Buriza and a Hyper and it's all over. Try it!

About that Buriza you Diablo-Cheapshots long for...

In case the madame's coup de grace overrides it 15% of the time when they both proc, there still is a (20x0.85=)17% chance for a 2.2x crit. So it is worthwile.

On the other hand - double damage every 5th strike (roughly) increases your dmg by "only" 20%. So it IS a good item for her, but preferrably LATE game when her base damage is already high.


Likely, 4x crit (300% more) in 15% of your attacks means 45% total dmg increase with a full ulti - which is good by the time you get it.

jesus christ, how many times do i hav to tell u, skeleton kings critical will not multiply with burizas critical, u only get one critical chance.

I should post on how critical works if the hero u play has both a buriza and a skill critical

If you get the skill critical first and then the item critical, should you get the 2 criticals, the last type of critical u got will be taken into account (which is item critical). if u got the item critical b4 the skill critical, should u get the 2 criticals, u will get the skill critical.

if u wana get buriza on mortred, get buriza first, then her skill.

(btw, if u get her ulti @ lvl 1 b4 buriza, then finish the buriza then level up to lvl 3 ulti, buriza will still take effect)

PA > You. Mortred owns so bad in late game, she is the "Mother" of the late heros. Yet, you prove that your a true assassin when you can own at low lvl (early game). GG for PA

i think if the life of enemies is below 3k its only 3-5 hit only using this item! even the character is like faceless, slardar or other stunner and passive stunner! before to ingage in battle, activate first the BKB so that they can bush or stun you nothing, after 4-6 hit im sure its the end!

actually buriza n butterfly is great for PA, i dunno y most say not stack..

butterfly evasion actually stack with PA.
buriza although not stack with PA ulti (2 critical come out, actually juz 1), but it actually (a math calculation) increse most frequently that PA dealling high Damage within few attack...

Try it, then u noe buriza is actually not bad for PA..

last, of course add in satanic. satanic n crictical is best partner lol

I didn't get mkb i was building a divine...

Lolz i just realised...get boots of travel as early as you can. As well as the movement speed, it gives you teleport. With blink strike... Well you have a teleport for retreating to buy stuff and heal, and you have a blink to attack...when level 4 blink comes by, you should be blinking to catch up with creep waves, because without creeps your invisibility's screwed. Then if You're screwed, go teleport back to base....by the time you need to tele back your boot will have cooled down...dunno why i'm not making a strat with this....

Buriza doesn't stack. I have a much better build...

No, there is no critical that can stack with Mortred's ulti. just don't bother with the critical items and get items for area damage, so creeps can't offend her puny hp

Haha actually mkb doesn't cancel the critical it just isn't affected by it.so you can do a critical and mkb can activate and then, critical will work but won't include the damage dealt by mkb. Its really confusing what it says on it...

dont it say on the MKB description that the damage is fixed regardless of critical, armour, etc?

That means that sometimes ull do x4 ur attack and other x2.2, there is no way u can do x6.2 mpd. If u dont trust me, pick PA and get buriza and watch the red numbers above ur head sometimes ull c 800 (buriza) some others 1200 (coup de grace)

The skill build is strictly hero related. With people like disablers, you get blur as soon as possible, cos then they can't see you so you can sneak up on them occasionally. Etc...

Actually cant you get butterfly and instead of getting blur get stats? Think of it this way, you'd have net +8 to all stats...

But butterfly doesnt really suit her, she wants max dmg! MKB is excellent because natural crit ALWAYS overrides item bashes so your 15% stays 15% even with 5 MKB's. Cheap source of +75 dmg, and gives her a ministun for those teleporters/channelers.

When i use PA (that is very often) i usually get this items:
Power treads
Mas of Madness
Battlefury
Hyperstone
Butterfly
Aegies*

And when the game gets really long i get cuirass.

I lke ur build but put another battle fury instead of the hyperstone

The Mortred 4.0x guide has a pretty solid skills progression but i tend to change it a bit...

1) blink
2) shadow strike
3) blink
4) stats
5) blink
6) stats
7) blink
8..9) stats
10..11) coup
12..13) stats
14..15) blur
16) coup
17..18) blur
19..22) stats
23..25) shadow strike

Level 1 coup is 15% chance to 2x crit, and at level 6 that is a joke, best to wait until 11 where 3x crit comes and actually makes a difference.

Why stats early instead of blur? Early game evasion won't do you any good when people are using 300 damage nukes on you.

1 point in shadow strike for the slow, but even that is optional.

Blink strike is maxed for obvious reasons, its a 120 damage + attack nuke at level 7 for 50 mana and 5 cooldown, its easy to take pot shots with it then quickly run away.

Item build? As long as it includes a damage item (MKB, butterfly, deso, battlefury, it matters not) you are pretty much set. I personally think battlefury is a waste of space unless your mags, and its best as PA to max dmg so deso + MKB (both very cheap easy to make) makes a great combo, or just MKB, or dual MKB. More commonly you'll see lifesteal over deso on mortred but realistically deso is probably the best item for her--damage wise. If they have only 6 armor they just went from 25% reduction to 0%, meaning 33% more damage for crits.

i think that bane elemental is the perfect counter. reduces attack, saps hp(mortred has decent armour but low hp) nightmare is decent..and fiends grip is great 215 a second and stunned.. plus mort is cood b used for ganking so if shes stunned with lots of creeps for 4 seconds plus with the 215 a second could be the end then while she runs away brain sap...pwnd i had it happen to me

iv only ever gotten this build twice in a game and they were both without em.
i had 4 deaths and 0 kills bfore i got satanic..and then i changed to 23-5 :D i died once coz got i got gang rapped by troll, clinkz, skelly, dwarven and treant. i killed dawrven clinkz and troll for a trip kill but then got stunned by skell when i was on 55 hp and then i died :(

My favorite hero and you can guess why.

Items to consider:

Powertread.....mov of course
Battlefury.....crit stacks with the splash muahahahahaha!!!
Radiance......farm like crazy with nice damage and immolation
BkB......if you are against a nuker/disabler, get this ASAP to help you kill without worrying

Buttlefly.....i don't personally perfer this but she is a AGI hero.

Mortred's not an early game champion,but can definiteli OWN in late game with her deadly critical~~

In early game she's usually in her own world farming(thus the name 'Phantom'~~)

Get a Battle Fury to get better farming,
then Butterfly.At levels above 18 she'll start to OWN;

if plus Satanic she'll DOMINATE..If then plus Divine Rapier she's quite GODLIKE-ly UNKILLABLE~~XP

She'll send players running when seeing all those small red numbers above her head~~LOLz

My skill build is alot different to other peoples but always works for me. Basically i get rank 1 of both blink and Shadow Strike and Max Blur and then just get stats (obv Coup when its available). Then I get S+Y first. This means at lv 10 or thereabouts you should have 1.4k health + (obv do not no exact). Going for MKB or battlefury is good for dmg but mortred is incredibly weak against stunners and disablers and with S+Y you will do still do good damage but you'll be alot harder to kill.

This is the most boring hero to face on public games. Someone will always feed mortred and whoa she got 1k crit. Nothing to do but to die. She should be nerfed to at least 3x crit on coup de grace on max lvl.

First lvl 1.5, second 2.0 and final 3.0. Its not even fun to face against mortred without disablers.

This hero's ultimate seems really crappy.

At level 3:
4*15% = 60% damage increase.

Other heros such as Juggernaut or Skeleton King have much higher increases in DPS:
Juggernaut: 2 * 36% = 72% damage increase at level 4

Skeleton King: 1.5 * 45% = 67.5% increase.

I suppose there is something to be said for spike damage, but Juggernaut's ultimate certainly seems better than PA's.

doesn't mean 15% CHANCE to do 4x (that means 400%) damage, or 1 of your 6,67 hit (how much it is?) will be 400% of your current damage...and it not related with increase damage at all (well, in that case, Skeleton King supposed to be creepier to her)

I am sorry, my last post was incorrect.
Here is the correct way of looking at it:

Out of 100 hits, Mortred will deal 145* her damage. 15% of the hits will ADD 3x damage.

Out of 100 hits, Juggernaut will deal 132 * his damage. 32% of the hits will add 1x damage.

Mortred DOES have the highest crit.

Still, Mortred doesn't seem that great, considering her Ultimate is only better at level 3.

I would also like to make the comparison between Mortred and Gondar (Bounty Hunter.)

At level 4, a single skill can give Gondar 20% evasion, and a 15% chance for 2x crit.

This is the same as level 3 in blur, and level 1 in Coup de Grace.

I'm not saying Gondar is better, merely that some of Mortreds skills seem... wasted.

Bard Man can tell you right now that Mortred's skill isn't wasted. Gondar's skill does give him the same boost as lvl3 blur and lvl1 Coup de Grace, but Blur gives more evasion and the added bonus of invisibility (sort of).

Coup De Grace is much better as well. Gondar gets the same chance to deal 2x DMG as Mortred gets to deal 4x damage. Give them no items and put them against eachother and Gondar will be toast. Period.

Lets take it as they do crit damage into percentage of criting on every attack, so...

morty: .15x4 = .60 dmg extra per atk
siren: .45x1.5 = .675 dmg extra per atk

Okay, slightly more original skillset now with a better slow but I prefer Shadow Strike better with the longer duration.

he has 3 copies with full!!! damage and 11% chance to crit

4 heros with 4x 11% crit chance --> 37,25% of a critikal

if he as 100 base dmg its an inceasment of 66dmg per hit (ever 3 hits 3x dmg --> after 3 hits 500dmg --> 166dmg / hit)

as you can see, its not that much, like most people think, and he has the best crits (in my opinion)

Man, i rekon the new skill (stifling dagger) is awesome! Mortred was hard to build up back then coz she was very vulnerable wen going for last hits early game.

the new skill gives mortred the edge now coz of a few reasons:

1. it has low mana cost (even lower per level)
2. low cooldown (spammable)
3. it has long range (u can avoid getting dmged wen last hitting)
4. slow lasts 4 secs when maxed!

so the slow is more important for heroes but the damage is enough 2 get last hits! Gr8 skill!

The dagger is still really good, I like it, even though getting rid of the SS was a nerf, it wasn't nearly enough. Fun hero, still imba when played decent

one way to calculate critical is like this: have the designated heroes have 100 attacks each dealing 1 damage. Say the juggernaut's 36% chance of 2x. So 36 hits deal 2 damage, so 72 damage, plus 64 regular hits = 72+64=136. PA has 15% chance of 4x, so 4 times 15=60, plus 85 regular hits. 85+60=145. So although juggernaut crit seems better because 36x2=72 and 15x4=only 60, the juggernaut still needs two attacks while PA can use that second attack for either another crit or a regular 100% attack.

ummm this hero is very fragile.. a sniper can kill him.. and a sniper is very fragile too...

but the key to this guy dying is non stop disable of stuns

If u consider late game situation, only faceless could kill mort.

Consider faceless backtrack lvl 4 is 25%
Mort's dodge is 28%
Now, if they both had butterfly, which is usually the case, that would stack.

Backtrack+butterfly = 55%
Dodge+butterfly = 58%
And as you all know double butter do not stack.

Yes mort does have the higher evasion but faceless has chrono, so this does give faceless the lead and even after that, the ability to challenge mort.

Another situation with a well farmed Mort is against Nessaj, chaos knight.
Nessaj has a 3x crit with 11% chance.

Yes this is lower than mort's 15% and also she has 4x, a much better deal.

But consider the images that Nessaj creates. Deals 100% damage.

Now if chaos knight took some blademail
and an assault cuirass, i think it gets interesting.

During phantasm, 4 images dealing 100% damage hurts, and if you didnt know, Mort cant lifesteal from an image.

so fv would have 47,5% and mortred 30 because the higher percentage overrides the lower one

and i just randomed mortred an tested the lasthitting thing w/ dagger, it works very well, so from now on i max blinkstrike and dagger asap(ofc ult at lvl 6)

Yes juggernaut is good. But u have to consider that jug has no skill which helps in chases. PA has 2 skills which has reallu low cooldown.
The ulti isnt that good but isnt noob either (esp in late games). It gives u 15/30/45% dmg increase. And it works for not only for base dmg but also damage added from pure damage items. Works with lifesteal and -armor too.

new skill DOES NOT SUCK AT ALL. it's great. very low mana cost (which is great cause PA has very low intel) and low cooldown. It's spammable. basically, PA is now only dps, not a possible nuker when she had SS. I like the change.

faceless void and troll warlord can fuck mortred anytime... hahaha

indeed the new skill has a great manacost (25) but at lvl 4 it deals only 80 dmg to heros.... so only great for the slow i guess

and you can also use it to lasthit creeps

use it if you are to far away to reach them or if you are facing heros like drow, viper and so on because of their singlecastable skills

it works pretty good because its 160 dmg to creeps for only 25mana(on lvl 4) and has a good range
