Atropos is an elemental force personifying the nightmares and fear of this world. He manifests where there is promise of inflicting horror and feeding off dread. Sapping his foes' psyche heals him. Manifesting his enemies' fears, he greatly enfeebles their ability to fight. He revels in disabling foes by sending them into dread slumber. When need be he can rip his soul and force it into his foes, effectively immobilizing them with despair and pain. Atropos is, in one word, Fear.
Enfeeble Enfeeble (E)
Greatly reduces an enemy unit's ability to participate in combat by reducing its attack damage. Lasts 20 seconds.
Level 1 - Reduces attack damage by 25.
Level 2 - Reduces attack damage by 50.
Level 3 - Reduces attack damage by 75.
Level 4 - Reduces attack damage by 100.
Casting range: 1000
Mana Cost: 95/105/115/125
Cooldown: 12 seconds

Brain Sap Brain Sap (B)
Feasts on the vital energies of another unit, absorbing some of its hit points.
Level 1 - Absorbs 90 HP.
Level 2 - Absorbs 160 HP.
Level 3 - Absorbs 230 HP.
Level 4 - Absorbs 300 HP.
Damage type: pure
Gives the full hp amount to Atropos, regardless of the amount of hp the target lost.
Casting range: 600
Mana Cost: 125/150/175/200
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Nightmare Nightmare (T)
Puts another unit into a fitful slumber, filled with horrifying nightmares. It takes 20 damage per second. If that unit is attacked while it slumbers, the attacking unit comes under the effect of Nightmare.
Level 1 - Lasts 4 seconds.
Level 2 - Lasts 5 seconds.
Level 3 - Lasts 6 seconds.
Level 4 - Lasts 7 seconds.
Damage type: HP removal
Nightmare can damage allies (and Atropos), and can thus be used to deny hero kills.
Typing -disablehelp will prevent direct casting on allies.
If the target recieves any type of damage except Nightmare, then it will wake up.
The use of spells on the affected units can wake the target up without the caster falling asleep.
In the first second of Nightmare the target will be invulnerable.
Casting range: 500/550/600/650
Mana Cost: 165
Cooldown: 15 seconds
Fiend`s Grip Fiend`s Grip (F)
Uses dark magic to grip a target enemy unit and damage it heavily. It cannot move or attack and Transfers 5% of enemies max MP per second to you. Lasts 5 (6*) seconds.
Level 1 - Deals 100 (155*) damage and transfers 5% (10%*) of the max mana of the target per second. Target is disabled for the duration of the spell.
Level 2 - Deals 155 (215*) damage and transfers 5% (10%*) of the max mana of the target per second. Target is disabled for the duration of the spell.
Level 3 - Deals 215 (270*) damage and transfers 5% (10%*)of the max mana of the target per second. Target is disabled for the duration of the spell.
Mana Cost: 200/300/400
Cooldown: 100 Seconds
Damage type: magical
Grants vision of the target hero
Using Fiend's Grip on a magic immune unit will still disable and drain mana, but no damage will be dealt to the targeted unit.
Fiend's Grip is a channeling spell.
Damage and duration can be improved by Aghanim's Scepter (* shows the improved values).
Casting range: 625

by 2 tornado staff i mean turn void stone to a tornado staff not buying 2 tornados!

imo he should be built like rhasta, a multi disabler.leave ganking for other try 2 be more useful in go for brain sap night mare stats get nfeeble at last ulti whenever possible rush soul ring, arcane boot then a void stone 2 tornado staff, then the hex, if necessary or have good burst dmger (lion,lina,na etc) get orchid in this way you can dsbl all of them from 2.5 to 7 sec what else do you need? Other items can be eos,shiva,necro (so nice if good at microing),bloodstone (make sure that you wan it),scepter,HoT,bkb (i dont suggest it since with just a 2 sec dsbl from a friend you can finish your ulti when others are still dsbld n not all players have dsbl 2 intrupt ur ulti) sorry if become 2 long

aghanim is great on this hero because it gives him hp/mp and of course buffs ultimate, dagger also great

arcane + soul ring,STGDS bought them both cz he maxed out nightmare first over stats, so he'll (hopefully) never runs out of mana when travelling between line.. but make sure u don't feed the mid line while u do that

neimi: arcane is reallly needed to boost your realy low base mana! and phase is great for his speed but he doesnt need the boosted attack damage since he channels for 5seconds.. i find it more better to get the arcane and jump between top and bot lanes with telport scrolls

well said 7Heaven!! and necromancian is good if your up against guys with low base mana, but i find it more better off to get bkb cause you can channel better and good survivability

it is still the most cost effecient item in the game for bane.
and a blink if a good item for him too.
arcane boots is a nono since you have ulti and you have soul ring.
phase boots will help your ganking alot more than arcane.
1 lvl of night mare is enough.
stats will help you alot more than maxing it.
enfeebale should be gotten from 17 to 20. since in earlier stages no one has that much dmg.

Early-mid game,your ulti,Brain Sap and Nightmare combo(not in that order,leave Sap for last) will be far more than enough to take out at least two enemy heroes with your allies-and one sure by yourself.So,Dagon is hardly a necessity or even a good item to get.

Late game it might prove useful but still,it won't do as you expect.

no matter what hero you are in dota, it will always be about about survivability!!!! (xcept techz)

so why would you waste levels on stats when you could max your nuke and disables to make your hero more effective at ganking and surviving? bkb boosts your hp alot and your ulti cant be stopped?
Now, about dagon: your nuke is true damage, so matter how much spell reduction they have they will always have 300 hp sapped, but dagon is not true damage and is reduced to about 300 damage at mosT

er...thanks...yea see i meant i wanted a real guide like the one right above this comment box thingy? up there? and how is dagon not for ganking? helps you kill...if you dont kill anyone then what's the point of ganking? i mean you will waste just as much time as them running around. dagon will increase your chances of killing thus making it a good ganking item. but thanks for the advice anyway oh btw nightmare maxing is kinda a waste, just take 1 lvl at lvl 1 and go brain sap or stats if you

also forgot to add, you want to max your brain sap spell to spam it with your sould ring as you will always get hp regend! max nightmare early aswell to help with ganks and to rune control mid! max enfeeble after the other 2 spells cause high damage characters really show later in the game, eg. drow ulti, windrunner ulti, void, etc.... you wanted a new guide ffor begginers so here you guys are :) p.s dont get daggon, bad idea, same with linken! ur aim is 2 gank all and disable all, dont 4get! :)

Start the game by soloing mid with these items! Courier & Sobi Mask. farm and finish Soul Ring, then work on getting arcane. By lvl 6 you want to have boots and soul ring, go and gank some1 either weak or fragile with ur ulti. You now want to get arcane boots! continue ganking other heroes with your ulti. ganking is your heroes role so the enemy cant get farmed! other items to get are; bkb, scep and if game is still continuing get hex & tornado staff.

2008 there was enfeeble still 20/40/60/80% dmg reduction and 4/5/6/7 dps for 20 seconds...

dunno when they changed it...
