Mannoroth's sudden and unexpected demise severed this Warlock's ties to demonology, and the absence of its corrupting influenced caused his body to wither onto the verge of death. A master of demons and destructive spellwork, this warlock delights in tormenting creatures of the Light, extinguishing them like candles until none are left alive.

Warlock isn't made to carry, he is made to support AoE, babysit, and be general support.

171 By neimi 2010-02-01

heros are carries.
tinker is also a carry since he can beat any hero one on one and can push 3 lanes at the same time.he is also considered a carry.(cause of his pushing ability.)

lion will use his spells, and then what?? he is dead.and he is also a lousy farmer so your stated items are un realistic.

170 By neimi 2010-02-01

he should also buy a chick and make it into crow.

thats why they pick he often in leagues.
zeus for example can be considered as a semi-carry with the help of his team ofc.
his 3rd skill late game is a monster.so with a good team, a zeus can help take down all of his enemies in no time.
that is a hero that MAY be considered as a semi-carry IMO.he has a good way to deal alot of dmg late game(arc cd is 2.5).
wind runner for instance is a carry since she is one hell of a dps hero.
those

items.

with that said.
you can see that he isnt a good carry at all.
you say he has good dmg? well, get a dezolator, assault, MKB, Buriza on techies and he will also have great dps.

lion is a support/ganker. he is an early game monster with out items.this can help you feed your carry and stay with minimal creeps and no kills with out feeding.that makes a support great or not.
warlock is also a monster early game with out items.he gets pipe, boots, wand, urn then mass wards.

168 By neimi 2010-02-01

he is still not a carry cause a void with BKB and MoM and power treads will beat the living day lights out of him.

a mort with BKB and battlefury without boots or any other items can beat him also.

storm wont be touched by his moves.

spectre will beat him.

troll with BKB will beat him.

nevermore will probably be more farmed than him cause of better farming capabilities.and he can beat him with BKB and some other items.

tinker with hex and blink/BKB can beat him with out other

I just like trying to do different builds on different heroes to see what kind of result happens, whether or not it works or fails which is how i came to the lion/warlock/prophet discussion. Yes i saw MOST of this in pub games but it opens your eyes and makes you think about what else that particular could do or achieve.

166 By Pantera[DF] 2010-02-01

OK, lets rid this conversation of warlock- I knew he wouldn't win much in this conversation :p just wanted to see opinions

But Lion...has a LOT more potential than Warlock. So lets say Lion went Aghs, lv5 Dagon, Guinsoos, and just for the hell of it AC or BKB could he possibly be considered a carry MORE SO than a support? He has 3 disables and 2 high damage nukes. Yes he would be great in team battles and KS/kills but isnt that sorta the definition of being a carry?

165 By [ZOMG_NEGROES] 2010-02-01

And warlock late game is only useful for his stun so even if you tried to be DPS you would get raped so just buy wards and let your carry wreck the other team

164 By [ZOMG_NEGROES] 2010-02-01

be trying to make yourself a carry. So if you want to do that in pubs, go ahead. But in a clan battle or a serious match, play your support ganker role.

163 By [ZOMG_NEGROES] 2010-02-01

A carry means they in some way are capable of bringing the team to victory. Someone like storm is capable of dishing out constant damage with his overload, remnant and ball lightning. Lion on the other hand, does his stun, hex, and ult then he pretty much lets himself die. In a non-pub game, if you even try to go DPS on those heroes your clanmates aren't going to take it well. All in all, unless you are a hero that has some abilities that deal constant damage or you are a strong DPS you shoudlnt

162 By Pantera[DF] 2010-02-01

Look, i know people like Luna or Troll or Barath or any other agi/dps hero would totally own warlock but he has his place as a ganker to me more so than going full support. As a full support your gonna get targeted and die a lot. He's much better in a group, not alone. I only go alone if I have BoT and an infernal ready. Pusher. And I agree yes going DPS isnt the GREATEST thing but it could wreak havoc on a few heroes.
And who keeps assuming this is a pub game? and why?

161 By Pantera[DF] 2010-02-01

Excuse me, 155 and 156, not 158

160 By Pantera[DF] 2010-02-01

So again another person agrees with Refresher, others do not.

And I never said anything about Prophet being a support hero.

@158
@155
Contradicting Furion statements

And again, @155, why can't Lion be considered a Carry hero? He has strong abilities.
And...The 18-0 lion is a greedy noob when a Specter can barely get a vanguard? OK...

@any "gank-warlock" discussion
remember-ganks are a team oriented attack. Why couldn't he be a gank initiator/ender? He has an awesome animation and long range.

159 By neimi 2010-01-31

znd boots ofc.

other items to get in leagues for warlock are chicken, crow, and wards.

158 By neimi 2010-01-31

so your examples about prophet getting dps items fail.

bottom line is that in pubs, refresh is good on warlock.
in higher level games id rather get a wand an urn and a pipe. that should be warlocks full items in a league game.

157 By [ZOMG_NEGROES] 2010-01-31

animation. So if you want to say that in an em game you raped with lion because you went dps it means nothing. In a real game that is the WORST way to play, and that is why lion and warlock are always ward bitches.

156 By neimi 2010-01-31

warlock is a bad ganker.
double inferno works, but only in pubs.the thing to do is make one inferno auto attack and make the other inferno blck his path.it needs micro.

necro warlock works better thanrefresher warlock.

meka, urn, pipe warlock works excellent.but only in high level games cause you can depend on a decent player to carry your team.

Pantera[DF], your comments about prophet are wrong since prophet isnt a support or any of the likes. he ganks, farms, and get dps items ......

155 By [ZOMG_NEGROES] 2010-01-31

If you go 18-0 with lion or warlock, that means you're a greedy noob that doesn't want his carry to do well. Happens all too much that a team loses because lion had a level 5 dagon, aghanims, and refresher while spec barely has a vanguard and a couple wratihs. And no it's not common sense. If you play your role you're carry gets fat. You do something stupid like lich with DPS,or anything like dagon for that matter then something's wrong. Furion is a good DPS on the other hand with great

154 By Alpine 2010-01-31

That was meant to say that the roles overlap sometimes; as it's written it seems as though they always are. Sorry for any confusion.

153 By Alpine 2010-01-31

While I agree with what you're saying for pub games, keep in mind that the role of ganker and support overlaps. You can have ganking supports and ganking carries, just not support carries. For example, Rylai and Lion are support heroes for sure, but both are also excellent gankers.

Those two descriptors aren't mutually exclusive in the same way that "support" and "carry" are.
