Former cultist of the Blacksun, Lannik was among the first of many orcs enslaved by the wretched demons when the Legion's taint befell the lands of Kalimdor - a dire affliction that grew stronger over the years. Mannoroth's sudden and unexpected demise severed this Warlock's ties to demonology, and the absence of its corrupting influenced caused his body to wither onto the verge of death. In exchange for life beyond the grave, he bound a pact with the Lich King. A master of demons and destructive spellwork, this warlock delights in tormenting creatures of the Light, extinguishing them like candles until none are left alive.
Fatal Bonds Fatal Bonds (F)
Bonds up to 5 enemy units together, causing damage dealt to any of them to be partially felt by the others.
Level 1 - 3.75% damage to linked units, lasts 25 seconds.

Shadow Word Shadow Word (W)
A single word causes powerful magics to envelop the target. Creates a healing mechanism on a friendly target or damages an unfriendly one. Does not dispel on attack.

Level 2 - Heals or damages 20 hit points per second, lasts 8 seconds.
Level 3 - Heals or damages 30 hit points per second, lasts 8 seconds.
Level 4 - Heals or damages 40 hit points per second, lasts 8 seconds.

• A hero affected by Shadow Word may be denied once it falls below 25% of its maximum health.

Upheaval Upheaval (E)
Stirs up inert magic in a target area, channeling the force into a powerful slowing current that grows more powerful with every passing second it's channeled. Can channel up to 10 seconds and up to 84% slow.
Level 1 - Slows by 7% per second, slow lasts 3 seconds.
Level 2 - Slows by 14% per second, slow lasts 3 seconds.
Level 3 - Slows by 21% per second, slow lasts 3 seconds.
Level 4 - Slows by 28% per second, slow lasts 3 seconds.
• Slow amount is calculating with duration of channel, not with how long enemy was in area of effect.

Rain of Chaos Rain of Chaos (R)
Calls an Infernal down from the sky, dealing 100 damage and stunning nearby enemies for 1 second. The infernal lasts 45 seconds, takes reduced damage from spells, has Permanent Immolation and a chance to Pulverize an area on attack.
Level 1 - Summons an Infernal with weak Pulverize and average attack, lasts 30 seconds.
Level 2 - Summons an Infernal with a mighty Pulverize and powerful attack, lasts 30 seconds.
Level 3 - Summons an Infernal with a devastating Pulverize and deadly attack, lasts 30 seconds.
Mana Cost: 200/250/300
Cooldown: 165
• Damage type: magical
• Magic immune units will be stunned.
• Destroys trees in its AoE.
• Casting range: 1200
• Area of Effect: 600


Flaming Fists ()


Description: Gives Infernal a 40% chance that an attack will deal 75/115/150 bonus damage to nearby units.
Area of Effect: 300(Full damage AoE)/350(Half damage AoE)

Permanent Immolation ()


Description: Burns Infernal's nearby enemy units for 20/30/40 damage per second.
Area of Effect: 250
• Damage type: magical
Resistant Skin ()


Description: Reduces the duration of negative spells and renders the Infernal immune to certain spells.
• Regarding damage and duration from different spells (like Cyclone and Frost Bite) will consider this unit a hero.
• Cannot be transmuted.
• Cannot be dominated.
• N'aix cannot use Infest on Infernal.

A build like this (Phase/BoT, Dagon, Refresher) has worked for me plenty of times and has made my team win. That's all that matters. Don't be afraid to go outside your role. Its worked for me with minimal deaths so can it really be called a noob build, or just common sense?

It's all about how creative you can be with a hero. No one is going to expect a Prophet with max attack speed getting criticals but Ive seen it and it works awesome. I've seen Lich get a Mekka and no kills, but I've seen Lich get nothing but strong INT items and such and become a serious hero killer with a lv5 Dagon. Don't be getting on me because of a build sounding creative or different.

Heres my thing- If you pick Rylai or AA or Witch Doctor how often do you REALLY play the intended role of support? I would appreciate stuff like "idiot" and "noob" being left out because this is a serious conversation. Anyways, how often you do (or anybody) else play the roll of support? Rarely, though it DOES happen. I've seen Witch Doctors get more kills than a Bloodseker and Lions go 18-0. They obviously played ganker.

Pantera, you're an idiot. If you have disables than why not assemble items that help your team? All teams are gonna have a carry so do your job as a disabler and stop posting noob builds.

Lion is the same way- he's built to be a support hero by having all the disables and a nuke. Imagine if troll has Fervor, Bash, and Empale and sheep? He would own. So, why not turn a hero wiht all the disables into a DPS hero? Ive seen Lion and even Prophet built with Hyperstones, Midas, Mjollnir, and Bflys and they do awesome. You can make a hero any way you want to-it all depends on how YOU play and what works best for you. Some builds are selfish, I know, but arent most Bnet players?

I build my Warlock to be able to push and tank towers. he's a pusher. I RARELY get refresher as I found he's much more dangerous with just a Dagon. I may try necronomican just to try it out.
So, why not have 2 infernal+necro? Broodmother can do the same thing, and so could Meepo, just Warlocks minions are a bit stronger. I just find him to be more useful in tanking towers.

He doesn't HAVE to be a support, cause to me supports are boring. He has the potential to be more so I bend his builds.

I agree with felix, a refresher is shit compared to other items for a warlock. 2 second stun isnt good at all plus the infernals are so slow even if they do the 80 dps dmg from immolation it will only last for like what erm 1 second b4 the other team runs. in all the laddr games ive played the warlocks who got a refresher were shit, and therefore they lost.

In pushing, Necromonicon will do as good as additional infernal, plus, in ganks and team clashes, they are far more usefull, as they give MS and AS increasing aura, heavy manaburn, and that blue one has TRUE SIGHT...

Hex as a 3,5 sec additional disable of everything, which is far better as it gives a chance for that 1 infernal to do some damage...

Shiva gives survivability, mana AND a nuke/slow...

Meka/Pipe/urn are awesome support items he needs to get asap in a real game

RoC is used in clashes to give your team a chance to setup hard to use skills (LSA and stuff), or when someone in your team is getting ganked so you can place an upheaval and stop them from killing him..

Late-game, when you summon 2 infernals, you'll only have 2 sec stun, 200 dmg, and 2 annoying yellow rocks blocking your path...

They tank towers when you push..but one infernal is enough so why buy refresher anyways?

Also, rushed refresher leaves u with no mana, meaning 0 support capabilities

Infernals are fucking slow..even if you channel upheaval, eventually enemies will escape them...they are good early game while enemies are still slow...late game it's just for pushing...

80 dps+fatal bonds?You do realize your infernals must be near the enemies, which lategame they'll never do (they got only 320 ms)...

When warlock goes into a gank, he doesn't use RoC, instead he cleverly places Upheaval so enemies won't be able to run away so easily

Sigh...you obviously don't get it...

1.Refresher gives you 40 damage, regen and refresh ability...
2.It gives you power for a 2 second stun instead of a 1 second stun...wow...
3.Babysitter/support/support ganker...he should NEVER GET THE KILL, instead leave the kill to his carry...
4.Necromonicon, Hex, Urn, BoT, HoT, Shiva, Meka, Pipe...
5.All of the above...

Warlock is cmplete supporter/babyshitter(in early game). But that is when u play in an official game with supports,tanks,carrys,gankers and all these. When u just play a pub game(which I prefer cos I have no clan ,U can even get Vlads if u want. My idea is that refresher's increases ur potentinal both as ganker and supporter too.2sec stun is of no joke.Furthermore 2 Infernals mean 80dps plus ur Fatal Bones which makes u a good AoE fighter. However when u play a challenging game u get ur item

And one more thing: I like Orchid on a lot of INT heroes BECAUSE:

1. Even the the total item is expensive, the smaller parts are cheapa nd gradually help you as you build for it.

2. Attack speed, Regen, Damage. I honestly get Orchid for the damage. For an INT item you can't go wrong with extra int, AS, damage, and regen.

3. SILENCE/AMP. Its godly on Pudge. No hooks or decay.

I usually do this for Lion, who i love greatly. With Warlock I now get Claws first then get Dagon ASAP.

But again, Warlock is VERY very versatile.
I saw someone go DPS/Pusher with Prophet a few games ago where he got Mjollnir, Hyperstone, and Butterfly. He raped, so it goes to a hero can really be any role AS LONG AS he has a versatile move set.

I think refresher is good if the fight has gone a while and you already have core items. I like being the person who nets those "WTF WAS THAT" kills. With Infernals Immolation and Word u have a nice DPS going on. Having a Dagon is awesome too.

1. Refresher is so you can summon 2 Infernals. It is for taking a tower, stunning in a LARGE area twice, but mainly for tanking.
2. I see Warlock as a support/ganker. Infernals works with ganking a great deal.
3. IMO, Support/Ganker
4. Yes, I just played a game where all i got was leaver Ptreads and lv5 Dagon. I owned.
5. IF you want to be full support, of course there are.

1.What does refresher actually give you?

2.What does refresher give you that actually fits your role?

3.What's Warlock's role?

4.Are there better items for Warlock?

5.Are there better items for Warlock that fit his role?

And you'll see just how crappy of an item refresher is on Warlock(I will also probably have to answer some of the questions for you, but what the heck, as long as you get the point)...
