Discussion:
Background Story of Cyrus - The Celestial Being Before I start rambling about stories, this part is optional to read. I love to express my own fiction. If you are interested in how this character come to be as I see it, read on but if you are not a reading type of person just skip this part. BUT I promise it will be interesting, enjoy: The myriads of heavenly armies, they are spirit creatures, sons and angels of the Almighty God. Every one them were created in a unique way. Each of them have their own personal names, personality, unique powers and even a title for themselves. One are known as the angel of the skies, another is called angel of the earth, another as the angel of life, another as angel of death and another as the angel of darkness. Yes, there are myriads of myriads of them, each distinctive among each other. They are all individuals having their own thoughts and consciences. Their Creator gave them free will, to choose their decisions personally. However, the Almighty did provide them their personal names and title, just like a father toward sons. Cyrus is well-known as the angel of light. He was created in the form of pure light energy. So, he is, more or less, a walking living light itself. Cyrus was used by the Almighty in the creations of the universal stars. Yes, he was involved in the divine work of lighting the once dark universe. Although having such godlike powers, Cyrus is a meek person. He had always credited his heavenly Creator for his wonderful existence. When the Almighty requested volunteers in the effort to end wickedness on Azeroth, Cyrus stepped forward without hesitation, offering himself to aid the Sentinel. His motive were pure. He was doing it for the glory and justice of the Almighty. When he was in the midst of his allies, Cyrus did not use his angelic title (the angel of light), rather identified himself as the celestial being of the heavens, meaning a heavenly creature sent by the Almighty himself. In order to battle the wicked mortals, Cyrus has to be in mortal form himself. He materializes his spirit body but still retaining a part of his light energy form. Hence, his powers are toned down. However, this never stopped Cyrus. He knows the purpose that he was sent. To live or be destroyed, Cyrus shall gladly embrace it for the glory of the Most High.
Appearance I really took some time thinking and searching for an artwork that fits the look of Cyrus that is in my mind. Well this the best I can find in Hive Workshop: (If you are unable to see clearly what is in this icon, press CTRL + mouse wheel to zoom in) Cyrus' look is basically similar to the Archangel Tyrael from the Diablo series. Here is a look of Tyrael if any of you never knew or seen him: http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/?rhtml=y Do look at the artwork of Diablo 3 website. It has an artwork of Tyrael as well (An angel with bright tenticlelike wings floating). Well, now that you have an idea of how Cyrus looks like, here is my idea of how Cyrus looks like. He is more muscular. He is wearing a robe-like armor. His face is unable to be seen under the robe but his glowing, beaming eyes is obvious. He holds two blade swords as his weapon. His wings are like eagle wings but wings made of light. His whole self (armor, weapons, wings) shines brightly but only under his robe, his face is unseen. Skill Discussion
NOTE: This section explain things/situations to the most extreme it can be. Beaming Eyes This skill is used mainly for detecting enemy heroes from afar and to teleport himself distance away to aid his allies. Thus, you can use it for hunting or checking surrounding areas of enemy heroes goes missing when you are laning. It can also be used for last hitting (it has 11 seconds cooldown and cost at level 4, 110 mana). I originally made this skill for revealing fogged area use only. But this skill would not have much use if without damage. So, now you can finish your almost dead enemy heroes from afar, if you are good at timing (for goodness sake do not use it for KS (kill steal)). Omnipresence
Being present at many locations simultaneously is what inspires me to create this skill. Similar to Spectre's Haunt (ultimate). So, it is also opposite of Spectre's Haunt. It also works similar to Axe's Counter Helix. Yes, the more enemy units tries to attack an allied hero, the higher chances it is of conjuring an illusion of Cyrus. But for balancing issue, the chances of conjuring an illusion is quite low that is 11% at level 4 (Axe's Counter Helix triggers at 17%). However, if conjured, that illusion might prove to be a big help. At level 4, it takes 45% more damage and deals 50% of Cyrus. So, the illusion is quite durable (plus, each lasts for 8 seconds). Whenever an illusion is conjured, the player of Cyrus will have a light link appear. It is optional to share controls with all allies, so when an illusion appears, that allied heroes can control it directly instead needing a divided attention from Cyrus. Accumulating Light This for Cyrus alone does not help much. Why? Because it meant to stack with other Cyrus illusions, useful for multiple illusions to be present. Yes, it also works on Manta Style's illusions and rune illusions. If you are fortunate enough, 2 Manta's Illusion + 2 rune illusions + 5 Omnipresence illusions + 1 Cyrus himself = 10 Cyrus-es. 1 Cyrus = 9% evasion and 7% reduced damage to enemy units. 9% x 10 & 7% x 10 = 90% evasion and 70% reduced damage. That is, sadly, a very rare occurance. So, stick close (not too close of course) for the effect of this skill works more effective when there is a togetherness. Light Speed Cyrus' escape, HP regeneration and support skill. It has three uses: 1) Run while healing youself. 2) Chase while healing yourself and attacking your prey. 3) Materialize at an illusion and heal your allies. Unfortunately, to balance Cyrus, this skill requires beyond decent mana cost. Pros & Cons The Good - A new type of supportive hero - Reveals foggy areas with ease - A killer/pursuer - Anti-DPS - A scary being if loaded with suitable items The Bad - A low MS for a start - Skills does not work well at early game - A low start for HP & MP - Not many synergies - You cannot see his face Skill Build - Apply as soon as possible all for Beaming Eyes because its damage is low and best use for farming and spamming enemy heroes from afar. - Omnipresence or Accumulating, either of which can be applied second after Beaming Eyes. - Apply Light Speed as soon as u reach level 6 because it is useful. You can avoid returning to base and use it to escape gank. - Do not apply stats before finish applying other skills. Trust me it is useful when applied and used properly.
Skill Synergies It is hard to think of synergies for Cyrus. Well, these are the few I can think of.
The most obvious combo. If you apply either one of these skills, you need to apply the other to make it more useful. For escaping from a gank or dying situation. If running and healing at the same time is not enough, evasion might save you. Turn the table around. Heal yourself when you are almost dead then at a distance, beam them with your eyes, which also slows them. Then kill that guy who damaged you if possible. When an illusion is conjured, your allies can use it to block your enemy heroes from chasing you, use Beaming Eyes to slow them to further save them (please to not KS).
Best Allies The shown above are all tankers, which the longer they are still alive when attacked, the higher chances of Omnipresence's illusion will conjure. No Good Allies Heroes which can conjure illusions also. They will have lower chances of conjuring an illusion of Cyrus because enemy units will most likely not to attack the real hero. Also, allied heroes which has evasion, which also lower the chances of conjuring Cyrus illusion when they need one. Worst Foes Heroes of which clears illusions fast and slows your movement speed when your on Light Speed. While you are moving fast and healing, Bloodseeker's Rupture is sure to deal more damage to you than your HP regenaration's healing. Recommended Items Accordingly, 1. BOT is the best to get as MS because when there is an illusion conjure, you teleport to that location (if there is any allied creeps or building) and help that allied hero to evade attack or turn the table to the attacking enemy heroes. 2. Phase mode which helps you to heal more HP when travels faster. 3. For AS and MS at the same time. Not to forget Stat gain which also work on illusion. No. 1 item to get for Cyrus. It has slow and burn effect to enemy units, which compliments with Omnipresence very well. Massive stat gain items (especially for AGI and STR) that works well with illusion. Well, Cyrus' illusions are also melee. So, burn those enemy heroes mana from the other side without you even knowing it. Conclusion Wow, I have reach a third submission of hero ideas in only more than a month. None of it is yet been approved (I hope it is not because my previous ones are no good ideas, Dzarzir - The Dimensional Remnant & Slig'na - The Heart Pounder). Well, it is may be because I am constantly updating my heroes (spelling, grammar, tenses mistakes & balancing or changing better looking hero/skill icons). Thank you all for reading, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I creating it. If there is suggestions in improving this hero idea, I welcome it very much. Special Thanks to Senkei77 I always have a fondness to know divine things. after reading the Gabriel - The Archangel hero idea from Senkei77, it inspired me to create my own angel character. No, it was not the anti-DPS idea that motivates me to create this butit was the angelic theme. We (me and Senkei77) came to form a partnership to create Cyrus. He actually contributed for the Beaming Eyes, Omnipresence and Light Speed skills. My role was just naming, balancing and put into digital words all mentioned those skills. I tried to widen the gap between Gabriel and Cyrus and this is the best I ccould do while still maintaining the angelic theme. Thank you for the help, senkei77, he is imaginative I would say. Thanks also to: - Drew for creating DS that we can share our ideas and views. - Modders for approving this new hero idea. - Everyone for reading and future comments. - Hive Workshop (OgeRfaCes, KelThuzad, Norinrad and rakemaster) for their hero and skills icons.
- My new job that is bores me to death (which also provides me free time to invent new heroes)
