The sight of a rain of arrows, soaring through the air, striking down enemies true, unable to miss their target. They may run, but they will not escape, she will not miss - each arrow will find its target without fail. They can try to fight back, but before they even notice whats happening, before they even find the lone archer, dozens of arrows will already lay rested in their chest - dead before they even hit the ground. She will stand upon their dead bodies, victorious, and roar like a predator of the wild, before disappearing again, not to be seen until arrows start raining again, and everything repeats again. She is Maria - the Lone Archer, the soul of the wild, the eye of the falcon, the arrow that does not miss.
Dual Shot Dual Shot (D)
Marina can fire two arrows at once, but she can only aim one of them perfectly, while the other will be only partially accurate.
Level 1 - Shoots two arrows - the first one deals your full attack damage, while the other deals 12.5% of your attack damage, and has a 47.5% chance to miss.
Level 2 - Shoots two arrows - the first one deals your full attack damage, while the other deals 25% of your attack damage, and has a 40% chance to miss.
Level 3 - Shoots two arrows - the first one deals your full attack damage, while the other deals 37.5% of your attack damage, and has a 32.5% chance to miss.
Level 4 - Shoots two arrows - the first one deals your full attack damage, while the other deals 50% of your attack damage, and has a 25% chance to miss.
Mana Cost: 15/15/15/15
Cooldown: 3/2/1/0
Framework: Two arrows, very close to eachother, the one that deals less damage is the second.
Notes: I think the premise of this skill is quite clear. Its an autocast orb effect, and effectivly increases your DPS by an average of 5.375% at lvl 1 and 37.5% at lvl 4. I believe its quite balanced, underpowered by its own, but balanced in synergy with other skills.
Enchanted arrow Enchanted arrow (E)
Maria enchants her arrows, so that they search and hit weak spots of the enemy, bypassing their defenses.
Level 1 - Bypasses 7% of the enemies evasion and penetrates 2.5 armor. Every 7th arrow deals pure damage and slows by 22.5%. Lasts for 4 seconds.
Level 2 - Bypasses 13% of the enemies evasion and penetrates 4 armor. Every 6th arrow deals pure damage and slows by 25%. Lasts for 6 seconds.
Level 3 - Bypasses 19% of the enemies evasion and penetrates 5.5 armor. Every 5th arrow deals pure damage and slows by 27.5%. Lasts for 8 seconds.
Level 4 - Bypasses 25% of the enemies evasion and penetrates 7 armor. Every 4th arrow deals pure damage and slows by 30%. Lasts for 10 seconds.
Mana Cost: 50/80/110/140
Cooldown: 32/28/24/20
Framework: Nothing fancy. The arrows just shine yellow-greenish.
Notes: So, your attacks ignore a certain part of the evasion and armor of the enemies you hit - there is no actual armor reduction though, it only applies for attacks made by you. The slow does not stack, and applies to both MS and AS. The slow lasts for 2 seconds.
Guided arrows Guided arrows (G)
Maria is able to focus on an enemy, and all her arrows will immediately seek him, hitting without fail, even if Maria herself is unable to aim properly.
Level 1 - Marks an enemy for 7.5 seconds. Every shot Maria fires at that enemy will ignore all effects that would cause her to miss or reduce her damage, including high terrain and fog of war. Every consecutive attack on that enemy increases her AS and MS by 0.75%.
Level 2 - Marks an enemy for 10 seconds. Every shot Maria fires at that enemy will ignore all effects that would cause her to miss or reduce her damage, including high terrain and fog of war. Every consecutive attack on that enemy increases her AS and MS by 1.5%.
Level 3 - Marks an enemy for 12.5 seconds. Every shot Maria fires at that enemy will ignore all effects that would cause her to miss or reduce her damage, including high terrain and fog of war. Every consecutive attack on that enemy increases her AS and MS by 2.25%.
Level 4 - Marks an enemy for 15 seconds. Every shot Maria fires at that enemy will ignore all that would cause her to miss or reduce her damage, including high terrain and fog of war. Every consecutive attack on that enemy increases her AS and MS by 3%.
Mana Cost: 70/100/130/160
Cooldown: 30/30/30/30
Framework: No special effect.
Notes: Bonus AS/MS stacks up to 10 times. Consecutive attacks are those made in a 3 second span from the previous. Does not bypass evasion or armor, just things like blind and things that would reduce her damage like enfeeble.
Rain of arrows Rain of arrows (R)
Marina is able to draw strength and speed from the nature around her, and thus fire multiple arrows at once at tremendous speeds, but only for a limited time. Also, with the connection to the forces of nature, she is able to increase her skills with each shot fired.
Level 1 - Fires 3 extra arrows with each shot that hit an AoE of 200 around her target - the arrows deal 25% of her attack damage. Each arrow that hits a target increases her AS and MS by 0.75%. Lasts for 10 seconds. Passive effect: Each Marinas arrow that hits her target increases her agility by 0.02. Each shot she misses decreases agility by 0.04
Level 2 - Fires 4 extra arrows with each shot that hit an AoE of 250 around her target - the arrows deal 25% of her attack damage. Each arrow that hits a target increases her AS and MS by 1.25%. Lasts for 12.5 seconds. Passive effect: Each Marinas arrow that hits her target increases her agility by 0.03. Each shot she misses decreases agility by 0.06
Level 3 - Fires 5 extra arrows with each shot that hit an AoE of 300 around her target - the arrows deal 25% of her attack damage. Each arrow that hits a target increases her AS and MS by 1.75%. Lasts for 15 seconds. Passive effect: Each Marinas arrow that hits her target increases her agility by 0.04. Each shot she misses decreases agility by 0.08
Level 4 - Aghanims: Increases duration on all levels by 2.5 seconds. Increases agility gain on all levels by 0.01. Decreases cooldown on all levels by 10 seconds.

Mana Cost: 120/150/180
Cooldown: 70/60/50
Notes: The bonus AS/MS caps at 50%. Fires one arrow at an enemy, plus 3/4/5 into the area around him. All the arrows shot will hit the enemy she is attacking if the enemy is marked. Dual shot can still be active while the ultimate is active, and its effects will apply. The bonus agi is gained for every attack made at any time that hits the targeted enemy. Extra agi caps at 20. The misses can only decrease the agi gained by this skill, not base agi or agi gained from items.

 
 

Discussion:

First, I will start by clarifying the skills. I believe I clarified them enough in the notes, but lets do it again, for those people *cough* fags *cough* that don't read the notes, shall we?

 

SKILLS & SYNERGIES

 

Dual Shot - An auto-cast orb effect. She fires two arrows in one attack - that doesn't slow her attack animation, just fires two arrows close to eachother, maybe a 0.1 second between them. The second  arrow is the one that deals less damage and has a chance of missing. Now, this skill is not powerful by its own, possibly even weak. But, in conjunction with other skills it really shines. I could even go as far to say that this is the core skill.

Now lets see its synergies with the other skills.

Enchanted arrow - by firing two arrows at once, it helps you achieve the fourth arrows sooner, along with its slow and pure damage. Also you deal more damage cause of the armor penetration.

Guided arrows - Removes the miss chance on your second arrow. When attacking the enemy marked with this, Dual shot effectively increases your DPS to 150% with lvl4 Dual Shot.

Rain of Arrows - Makes you shoot one more arrow for a total of 5/6/7 arrows. That's quite a shitload of damage.

 

 

Enchanted Arrow - This skill makes your attacks deadlier, by effectively ignoring most of the enemies evasion(if he posses it) and a nice deal of his armor. It also makes your every 7th/6th/5th/4th arrow slow and deal pure damage. It doesn't last for very long, only 4/6/8/10 seconds, but in lategame that can mean a lot. Also, synergises with the other skills to make it more deadly.

Lets see the synergies.

Dual Shot - More arrows, thus you reach the slow/pure damage arrow sooner.

Guided Arrow - Makes you shoot faster at that enemy, dealing more damage to him, and reaching more slow/pure damage arrows. Also makes any effects that could reduce your damage or make you miss ineffective.

Rain of Arrows -  Since with this you shoot loads of arrows, there will be plenty slow/pure damage arrows. Also makes you shoot arrows faster, using the duration of Enchanted Arrow more effectively.

 

 

Guided Arrow -  This skill is made for targeting one enemy, singling him out of his teammates, or when attacking one lone hero. Blind and damage reduction is effectively useless on her when attacking the targeted enemy. But that is only one purpose of his skill - the second one being the AS/MS increase that helps your other skills. Also, the synergy with the ulti is devasting.

Now, the synergies.

Dual Shot - the second arrow cannot miss, which I already mentioned. The AS/MS increase is also quite good.

Enchanted Arrow - helps you achieve the pure/slow arrow sooner, and generally helps you avoid the disables that would cause your second skill to be useless(blind, enfeeble)

Rain of Arrows - This one is great - all arrows fired by the ultimate will hit the marked enemy instead of the area around him. At lvl16, with Guided Arrow and Dual shot you will be able to shoot 7 arrows at one enemy at once. Guided Arrow will effectively make you deal 160/210/250% of your original DPS. Neat, eh?

 

 

Rain of Arrows -  A skill that makes you into a real arrow machine - you will be able to damage not only the enemy, but those standing beside him - quite nice in a team battle - also there is the possiblity  of multiple arrows hitting the enemy if he is running from you. The passive part of this skill is also quite neat, since it allows you to gain agi from just simple attacks, and each arrow is counted as 1 attack, thus allowing you to amass agi fast with the help of Double Shot and the ultimate itself. If you miss though, you lose some of it, but that can be avoided with the help of Enchanted Arrow and Guided Arrow.

Ok, the synergies!

Double Shot -  Allows you to get more agi, because you shoot 2 arrows. Comes with the risk of losing some agi though, do to the miss chance of the second arrow. This skill can also be used while the ultimate is active to raise your total arrow count per attack to 5/6/7.

Enchanted Arrow - Makes all your arrows penetrate armor, and bypass evasion. That's quite neat but there is more - the pure/slow arrow of this skill can also be achieved really quickly with the use of the ultimate, thus allowing you to deal massive damage to an enemy, with the help of other skills.

Guided Arrow - As mentioned before, allows all the arrows you fire to hit the marked enemy, which in turn increases your total DPS to 160/210/250% of normal, while also making you impervious to miss/damage decrease effects that would hinder the power of your arrows. With the help of lvl4 Dual Shot the total damage with each shot can even increase as far as 210/260/300%. Add Enchanted Arrows armor penetration, evasion bypass and the pure damage arrow and you got yourself a truly unmatched DPS - the only problem being that activating all those skills would take some time, and mana.

 

 

The skill build - There are a few ways to play her. One is going for survivability in early game, helping in ganks only when you have to, farming so you could pwn lategame. The other one is going for the ganks and plenty of early kills to get fed. Also, you could go for a certain mix of the two.

Recommended items  -Each player makes his own build. Recommended ones are considered generally the best, but they are not the best for each player. These are just items I consider would work best on her.

 

 CrystalisBuriza-do Kyanon

Possible core item(s) - with her attackspeed and multiple shots with Dual Shot and Rain of Arrows + Guided Arrows she will get plenty of crits for sure, easily dealing massive loads of damage to her enemies. Offers no survivability though.

 Monkey King Bar

A core item - with Maria's attackspeed, and the bunch of attacks she can deliver, MKB is bound to proc often. Also, it would effectivly remove the miss chance on Dual Shot at any time, withouth the need to activate Guided Arrows. With the combo of Guided Arrows, Rain of Arrows and Dual Shot, this can be incredibly deadly. Just like Buriza, this offers no survivability.

 Vanguard

Optional item for survivability. I myself am not a fan of vanguard, but it can be usefull in certain situations.

 Linken`s Sphere

Optional survivability item. Preservance early would offer you some much neede mana and health regen - later upgrading it to this offers some stats to go with that.

 Eye of Skadi

Slow, stats,mana, health...nice item for most agi heroes. Its orb effect will not be an orb considering Maria is ranged, and will stack with the slow of her second skill, so I might even dare say this could be a core item.

 Sange and Yasha

A fairly good item, but not a great on. I myself don't like SnY that much, but it can benefit this hero nonetheless. 

 Manta Style

Since the remake, Manta is the wet dream of most DPS heroes, especialy the agi ones - attackspeed, movespeed, stats and illusions. What more could you want? Maria could increase her already insane DPS output even more with this, as well as getting some survivability. A likely core item.

 Aghanim`s Scepter

Boosts her ultimate, and gives stats. Can be used as a core in certain situations. Not a bad optional item also.

 Lothar`s Edge

An optional rush item. Can help you gank, survive when the enemies gank you, or just help you run away. The AS and Dmg from it are not wasted on Maria aswell.

 The Butterfly

All agi heroes like butterfly, its evasion helps you survive enemy DPS heroes, while the AS and Dmg let you pwn. Same with Maria.

 Assault Cuirass

Lots of attackspeed and loads of armor for lategame survivability. The armor reduction synergises with Enchanted Arrow.

 Orchid Malevolence

It gives you attack speed, some damage + mana and mana regen. And to be fair, you need mana. The silence can only be a bonus.

 Guinsoo`s Scythe of Vyse

An optional item that can help in some situations.

 Power Treads or

Its all up to you and your personal preferences. Both can work fine.

 Hand of Midas

 Optional Farming item.

 Cranium Basher

Extremly optional - the bash is bound to proc lots though, but still, MKB may be a better choice.

 Mjollnir

An item that gives plenty of attackspeed and damage as well as a survivability spell, but is not recomended because of its orb effect that will not stac kwith Dual Shot. Still can be useful on her. If yo uuse the ulti, only the main arrow can proc the lightning.

 Helm of the DominatorMask of MadnessSatanic

Lifesteal items - if you choose not to use dual shot, this can be a viable option. When you use Rain of Arrows, only the primary arrow can lifeasteal though.

Basicly everyone who can disable your enemies or buff your damage/health/armor/attackspeed, or heal you is your ally, while your worst enemies are disablers and silencers, as well as heavy tankers/magic imune hereos and nukers.

hmm... this hero might be a bit too unbalanced. If the player buys a butterfly, hyperstone, (anything with high atk speed), activate dual arrows, use ult... you would see an endless stream of arrows.

this hero IS dull if it just revolves around plain arrows and nothing else. Some players want that aesthetics in their characters.
her skills aren't that visually attractive(though quite decent),
just fancy her up a bit!

Dual Shot - A simple enough skill that does its job. Well done.

Enchanted Arrow - It boosts her DpS quite nicely. I disagree with Pure damage though. Slow is nice, but lasts too long.

Guided Arrows - Fog of War does not cause misses. Also, MKB ftw? This is just a copy of Troll's 3rd skill, except boosting MS.

Rain of Arrows - Very gimmicky. What it does: Attack/move faster, more damage, AoE, forced synergy /w Guided Arrows. Crap.

Overall, good solo; bad team. No stuns etc.

WOW! Nice synergy. But maybe must nerf a bit cause quite imba. And i don't think the true strike of MKB will stack with dual shot. However, this hero doesn't even nd the true strike. Also should include a buff placer for the first skill cause this skill with EoS is going to be very gay.

Ooo, yay! I'm not the only one that used Guild Wars to create awesome heroes :D

I like this, although the ult does resemble Windrunner's ult, it has better synergy with her other skills.

Oh and another thing, are you sure this should be an agillity hero? I mean 15 manacost for an autocast spell with 3 more activation spells with 140/160/180 manacoast are you INSAE?! I mean Clinkz will seem like he has little mana trouble compared to this hero!

Well... I can hardly criticize that hero :D. I belive her ultimate is strong enough to be scepter upgradable. I don't understad why did you give orb effects as good items since your Dual Shot is an orb effect? And another thing, if you make Skadi, will the frost attack be applied to your both arrows from Dual shot? Also in your disscution area you give good allies and bad enemies but you don't explain why are they good allier/ bad enemies? Some might not understand. Beside that- nice hero 9/10
