Athanasia is a human Archmage who is a member of the Kirin Tor and also was associated with the Order of Tirisfal. As the Burning Legion made their way to Dalaran, Athanasia was ordered to stall their advance. Unfortunately, their outpost were overrun by their enemies and they were defeated. Facing death by the hands of the Burning Legion, Athanasia chose to sacrifice herself by channeling her energies to create a dimensional rift in the surrounding area. The process destroyed her body, but left her soul intact. As a result, she is forced to recreate an ethereal body using her magic and enclose it in a barrier so it will not dissipate. She joined the Sentinel force to take vengeance on the destruction of Dalaran. She is always willing to sacrifice herself for the victory of the greater good.

Negation (G)
When a spell affects Athanasia, she breaks it down to its components, analyzes it, and forms a defense against that spell. When activated, it captures the first targeted spell that hits Athanasia. Renders her immune to that spell for a certain duration, or until a new spell is chosen to be negated. Cannot negate skills which deal instant damage above 800.
Level 1 - 270 mana consumed when negation is successful, 60 second duration.
Level 2 - 235 mana consumed when negation is successful, 100 second duration.
Level 3 - 200 ana consumed when negation is successful, 140 second duration.
Level 4 - 175 mana consumed when negation is successful, 180 second duration.
Cast Time: Instant. If Athanasia does not have the mana requirement to negate the spell, it will pass through Negation and damage her.
Mana Cost: 150 at all levels
Cooldown: 75/70/65/60

Framework: A mana-shield effect when a spell is negated.

Notes: Athanasia will still be damaged or affected by the spell when it first hits her.

Astral Curtain (N)
Athanasia has a bounded field that protects her. Reduces any damage by 30% when it is beyond the damage threshold. Has a chance to reduce damage that lower than the threshold. Does not reduce lethal damage. The reduced damage is dissipated in an area around her.
Level 1 - Any damage over 600 is reduced. Has a 20% chance to reduce damage over 300. Dissipates reduced damage in a 250 AoE
Level 2 - Any damage over 550 is reduced. Has a 25% chance to reduce damage over 250. Dissipates reduced damage in a 400 AoE
Level 3 - Any damage over 475 is reduced. Has a 30% chance to reduce damage over 200. Dissipates reduced damage in a 550 AoE
Level 4 - Any damage over 400 is reduced. Has a 35% chance to reduce damage over 150. Dissipates reduced damage in a 800 AoE

Cooldown: n/a

Framework: Red Disentangle effect

Notes: - This is instant damage DEALT. Skills that deal damage per second will not be affected unless the damage they deal per second exceeds the threshold. - This resistance is different from spell and armor resistance, meaning it will stack fully. - Example: You receive 1000 damage. You reduce 30% of it, which is 300. You take 700 damage, not counting armor and spell resistance. You dissipate 300 damage in an area around you.

Vitality Bind (T)
Athanasia binds her life to a target. Any damage dealt to her will also be taken by the affected unit. Does not work the other way around. Deals bonus damage whenever the damage dealt by Vitality Bind reaches a certain amount. Lasts 12 seconds.
Level 1 - Affected unit takes 15% of damage dealt to Athanasia. Whenever Vitality Bind deals 350 damage to the target, it deals an additional 100 damage to it.
Level 2 - Affected unit takes 30% of damage dealt to Athanasia. Whenever Vitality Bind deals 300 damage to the target, it deals an additional 150 damage to it.
Level 3 - Affected unit takes 45% of damage dealt to Athanasia. Whenever Vitality Bind deals 250 damage to the target, it deals an additional 200 damage to it.
Level 4 - Affected unit takes 60% of damage dealt to Athanasia. Whenever Vitality Bind deals 200 damage to the target, it deals an additional 250 damage to it.
Cast Time: 0.5 seconds
Cast Range: 600
The spell resistance of the target will reduce the damage from this skill.
Mana Cost: 175 at all levels
Cooldown: 40/33/26/20

Framework: Purple Maledict effect on Athanasia and the target

Notes: Damage DEALT, not RECEIVED. Scenario as follows: Damage Dealt -> Vitality Bind -> Skill/item reduction [Includes Astral Curtain] -> Armor/resistance reduction -> Damage received. Example: A unit deals 100 damage to Athanasia. She will take 100 damage [not reduced by resistance/armor] and binded unit will take 60 damage.

Martyrdom (R)
Athanasia grants her allied heroes a portion of her barrier, thus taking some of the damage dealt to her allies. Affects all allied heroes in the map. When she dies, she heals her allies equal to a portion of her maximum HP. Passively increases the effectiveness of Astral Curtain.
Level 1 - Reduces 10% of the damage received by allied heroes and deals them to Athanasia instead. Heals for 5% of her maximum HP. Lasts 4 seconds. Passively increases the trigger chance of the bonus reduction of Astral Curtain by 5%
Level 2 - Reduces 15% of the damage received by allied heroes and deals them to Athanasia instead. Heals for 7% of her maximum HP. Lasts 6 seconds. Passively increases the trigger chance of the bonus reduction of Astral Curtain by 10%
Level 3 - Reduces 20% of the damage received by allied heroes and deals them to Athanasia instead. Heals for 10% of her maximum HP. Lasts 8 seconds. Passively increases the trigger chance of the bonus reduction of Astral Curtain by 15%

Cooldown: 120 at all levels

Notes: The damage type dealt to you is spell damage. Example for the passive ability: When you have Astral Curtain[4] and Martyrdom[3], you will have 50% chance to reduce damage over 150.

Healers [Purist Thunderwrath, Vol'jin, Aiushta, Terrorblade] = Prevents you from dying. Terrorblade with full HP can just cast Sunder on you when you are low on HP.

Worst Enemies

Heroes with DPS skills [Doom Bringer, Netherdrake, etc.] - The damage they deal is usually below the threshold of Astral Curtain.
Perma-bashers - They have a relatively low damage output since they rely on the bash to keep you in place while they eat your HP.

Exactly. That's for balancing reasons. I don't want people whining about having their stormbolts blocked by a weeny spell. So I put a drawback. However, later in the game, the mana drawback becomes negligible.

Well since Bard Man is here, he will put in his 2 cents.

Negation: A great way to counter annoying spells like Rhasta's net and others that just get really annoying. And you even made it balanced! Bard Man salutes this skill!

Astral Curtain: Hmmm.. This is hard for Bard Man to judge.... Looks like you were thinking of the Uber nuke twins, Lina and Lion, when you made this skill. One question though. Does this effect regular attacks over 150 damage? Even if it does, it's not that big of a deal.

Vitality Bind :This skill gives Bard Man thoughts of Abaddon's Death Coil used for both purposes at once. Suicide and getting a kill. Bard Man has used this trick many, many times. As for Vitality Bind, it's no more imba then Maledict. In a way, it's a COUNTER to Maledict. You cast it on Vol'Jin, he won't be able to use it on you without gettin killed himself. Bard Man approves!

Martyrdom: This is a very nice global skill. The best save for your friends if they're up against Axe.

Bard Man has not been doing anything to learn about Starcraft 2, but simple for the sake of excitement when he installs it. Bard Man thinks that DOTA will bridge the gap over to SC2. Maybe when it does, this hero will be added! Do you all agree?

I always look forward to a martyr-like hero who can do total support to the team. Huskar the Sacred Warrior can always make my allies gape at the daring kills I did (some include my own destruction soon after ).
This one will make another great supporting martyr! The one that will make great use of Bloodstone to its optimum use.

The key to balanced skills in many cases is to have only one variable that changes, unless they're less useful skills in the first place. I noticed in all of your skills the benefits increased so much per skill level, by level 4 they were way too imbalanced.

Some helpful criticism, consider these scenarios and ignore that there may be alternative ways to counteract:

Negation - Starts out too mana-intensive. Not a skill made for early game use. 270 mana is way too much to block a spell of the same level that won't do nearly enough damage for that spell to be useful. Maybe a high damage ultimate, but not a storm bolt or something. Also, it would be easy to back Athanasia into a corner using this skill. Imagine Zeus using arc lightning to nuke you early game. Being an int hero with no reliable retaliation spell would leave you incredibly vulnerable. You'd either have to take the damage or use negation, in which case your mana would only last 1 negation, if that, depending on your level. An easy way to drain Athanasia's mana. By late game the mana cost would be semi-negligible and it would be a ridiculously effective counter to easily-spammable spells such as orbs. Harbinger would be useless against you.

Astral Curtain - The damage thresholds get steadily lower while the chance to reduce lower amounts of damage gets much higher. The AoE of the dissipation is massive at level 4.
Here are some suggestions:
-Keep the %chance and AoE range static while decreasing the damage thresholds
-Keep the guaranteed damage threshold and AoE range static while increasing the %chance and decreasing the damage threshold on the chance to trigger

Remember that 30% of a high damage spell is a lot, and 30% of low damage attacks very often is a lot as well.

Vitality Bind - This is the most imbalanced of your spells. You increase the %damage the enemy takes, decrease the damage counter and increase the bonus damage. If the spells bonus damage adds to the counter as it does with Maledict, at level 4 it would be an instant kill after the first bonus damage because your bonus damage is higher than the amount required to deal the bonus, resulting in an infinite loop. Try keeping 2 variables static and changing the other one each level.

Martyrdom - I don't really have any problems with this one, fairly balanced only because of the short duration. Late game it might be a little unfair during a final push, considering the other team would have creeps and 5 heroes attacking, not to mention 4 of your team taking vastly reduced damage (including armor and spell reduction) and a big boost in health when you die from taking their damage. When combined with Vitality Bind enemies that have cleaving attacks would get owned fast.

All in all a pretty good hero but the skills could use a little reworking.

I have read your points and I know that Athanasia can be very imbalanced. However, I would have some comments of my own.

Negation:
This is not meant to be an early-game spell. I agree that late-game, this can definitely screw up heroes like Harbinger. However, this skill only screws up ONE hero. I feel this is balanced already, it counters only ONE spell from ONE hero, not for all heroes [save for storm bolts]. Ganking Athanasia can solve this.

Astral Curtain:
I actually agree with you on this one. I was thinking of making the bonus block percentage static [20% at all levels] since it's increased by Martyrdom anyway.

Vitality Bind:
I think I missed something. The bonus damage is not counted to the bonus damage threshold, so when it deals 250 damage at level 4, it will not trigger another 250 damage. Also, the damage here is still reduced by the target's spell resistance.

Martyrdom:
Yeah well.. Guardian Angel is evil too. Hahaha!
