Micheal Martreb - The Forsaker
Micheal Martreb - The Forsaker
Range: 120 | Move Speed: 305
Primary: STR
Str: 35 + 3 | Agi: 24 + 2.5 | Int: 12 + 0.5
Damage: 68 - 81 | HP: 815 | Mana: 156

Attack Speed: 1.43 | Armor: 2
The Scourge asked little when Micheal Martreb joined their ranks, nor did they know his motives. Any other man would have died had he been encountered by the Scourge raiding party, but the liches and ghouls knew something was not right, their had been something unnerving about the man who had stood before them, peculiar because he had seemed to wield no power of his own, yet his mere presence had struck their cold hearts colder. Micheal knew his effect, knew he would have died had they not felt him, or more precisely felt themselves grow weaker, the magic holding and binding them and their strength, slowly slip away. Magic was for the weak and the corrupt, Dalaran was a prime example of his beliefs, the vast power of the magi, mere mortals who considered themselves above the gods because of their arcane arts, were no match for the brute force of the Scourge. When the encircling wards, once thought indestructible, had fallen, abominations, practically impervious to the most powerful of spells had ripped the populace limb from limb. It was only then that the fools had learnt their mistake, learnt that magic alone would not be able to save them…but unfortunately magic was all they had. Micheal could still hear the screams that had escaped lips of his family, before they were all shredded to pieces by mere ghouls. All had died or fled the ensuing carnage of the Scourge war host, but Micheal had stayed and watched and eventually he had made his choice. Even though his own city was destroyed, Micheal had felt no guilt at his decision to join its destroyers and more importantly denounce his own power. He was going to be the first Martreb since the Magi Wars to bring dishonor to his family, by making war against everything they believed in and destroying that which had given them their power in the first place. The World Tree, the source of all magic would burn, guarded by the creatures of Elune, a vile race bred on and fueled by magic, they would stand no chance against his form of attack. It amused him to think they had even summoned his own ancestor to their side for aid. It mattered little who they summoned, Micheal knew history would repeat itself, and that this battle would be Dalaran all over again.
Hatred of Magic Hatred of Magic (D)
The thing that defines a Forsaker is his absolute hatred for all things arcane. a forsaker sees magic as a perverse and evil thing. Micheal is no exception. When anyone, be they friend of foe, casts a spell around Micheal, his anger will build. This rage fuels Micheal's strength as he pummels any eneemies that stand in his way.
Level 1 - Increases attack damage by 4% and attack speed by 5% for every spell cast in a 450 AoE of Micheal.
Level 2 - Increases attack damage by 8% and attack speed by 10% for every spell cast in a 500 AoE of Micheal.
Level 3 - Increases attack damage by 12% and attack speed by 15% for every spell cast in a 550 AoE of Micheal.
Level 4 - Increases attack damage by 16% and attack speed by 20% for every spell cast in a 600 AoE of Micheal.
Cap is 6. Lasts for 25 seconds after the last spell is cast.

Passive
Mana Cost: None
Cooldown: None
Framework: A Fire orb swirls around Micheal's weapon for each increase in damage and ASPD gained.
Notes: Taking this skill means you cannot use any items with an active ability (Manta Style, BoT, etc.).
Inhuman Power Inhuman Power (F)
Forsakers would rather cut off thier own heads then be touched by healing magic. Rather then risk having to be healed by 'The Dark Forces of magic', Most Forsakers train thier bodies to an extreme level, speeding up natural regeneration along with making them incredibly strong.
Level 1 - Increases Health Regeneration by 1.5 and icreases damage by 5%
Level 2 - Increases Health Regeneration by 2 and icreases damage by 11%
Level 3 - Increases Health Regeneration by 2.5 and icreases damage by 18%
Level 4 - Increases Health Regeneration by 3 and icreases damage by 26%
Passive
Mana Cost: N/a
Cooldown: n/a
Framework: The icon appears in your status bar.
Notes: A little skill to help keep Micheal alive and help him smash skulls.
Rejection of Magic Rejection of Magic (G)
Forsakers reject magic in every form, be it positive or negative. Those who try to harm Micheal with magic soon find out just what a mistake it is. Unfortunately, this also means he cannot be empowered or healed by an allies magic.
Level 1 - Magic Resistance is increased by 10%
Level 2 - Magic Resistance is increased by 22%
Level 3 - Magic Resistance is increased by 34%
Level 4 - Magic Resistance is increased by 46%
Just like it says, Micheal is immune to friendly magic when he gets this skill. Pretty sure that cancels out the big percentage.
Mana Cost: N/a
Cooldown: N/a
Framework: Micheal has a white aura from now on.
Notes: No, Bard Man isn't joking. When you take this skill, you cannot be healed by your allies or be effected by thier spells in any way, but you can still be healed by the fountain and be empowered by auras.
Arcane Destroyer Arcane Destroyer (G)
The goal of all Forsakers is to prove the weakness of magic. For this reason, they are able to strike with great strength against any who wield magic as a weapon.
Level 1 - 20% chance to deal 5% of the difference in Micheal's mana pool and the enemy's mana pool.
Level 2 - 25% chance to deal 15% of the difference in Micheal's mana pool and the enemy's mana pool.
Level 3 - 30% chance to deal 25% of the difference in Micheal's mana pool and the enemy's mana pool.
Orb Effect
Mana Cost:
Cooldown:
Framework: When this skill hits, it creates a mini Thunder Clap around the enemy unit
Notes: If you get this and go up against someone like Harbinger, he'll be begging for the game to end, but against heroes with low INT and more AGI or STR (Like Rikimaru or Leoric) this will suck balls.

Discussion:

Alrighty people. If you actually looked at the skills above, you can already see that Micheal is an all passive hero. Well right now, Bard Man is gonna tell ya one more little catch regarding Micheal. He CANNOT wield any item that has an active ability. You know, like say... Guinshoo or Satanic? Nope. None of that. He can still use items with passive effects like Vladamir's offering and Buriza.

Now Then, on with the show!

Hatred of Magic  Hatred of Magic: Behold Micheal's first skill. A skill that will make you very happy if either your team or the enemy team consists of alot of INT heroes. As long as you have this, most people won't wanna cast spells at you, less they be the target of your rage. Here's hoping that you like this.  Oh, but just remember the thorn to this rose. If you have this skill at ANY level, you cannot use an item with an active ability. If you bought an Active Item before taking this skill, prepare to feel juked, cause if you did you will auto-drop it and won't be able to pick it up. Of course, you can pick it up using the ol' chicken, but then you can't sell them. Keep that in mind when you use Micheal.

Inhuman Power Inhuman Power: Micheal's Second skill. A great boon to your blows and some minor regeneration to keep you alive just a bit longer. Bard Man was kinda thinking of Razor when he made this skill. Good passive boost coppled with a weak one. Seemed nice. Is Bard Man rambling? He is. Moving on!

Rejection of Magic Rejection of Magic: If you noobs didn't learn this from his first skill, here's a reminder. Micheal does not like magic. If it's from an enemy, he will beat thier asses. If it's from an ally, he'll thwack it away, but not hit the guy giving him the magic boost. Yea, the resistance seems imba, but when you factor in that you can't get buffed by spells like Blood Rage or Bloodlust, or Surge, it seems pretty fair. And Bard Man knows you tard-monkeys will ask, so yes, Micheal can be effected by auras.

Arcane DestructionArcane Destroyer:  This is a pretty straight forward skill. With it, you have achance to really deal some damage against any hero with a big INT score and/or one too many items boosting his mana. As long as you have this skill, no INT hero will dare come near you. It's like how people that use melee heroes react when the see Axe after he's gorged on a feeder. Sure, they might try to hit him a few times, but never would dare to take him on head first. But, on the downside, this skill is all but useless when you're fighting tanks like Bradwarden unless he's dumb enough to grab a Bloodstone or something.

Moving right along, it's time to talk about items. Hopefully you read what was up at the top of the discussion area. If you didn't go back and read it again you dee dee dee.

Power Treads Since you can't use the Boots of Travel due to it's active skill, the Powers Treads are your main mode of movement. STR or AGI is fine, but going INT is just asking to get your ass kicked..

Vanguard If Bard Man has to explain why you should get this, he will smack you.

Heart of TarrasquePlease read the above statement.

Vladmir`s OfferingThis is of course your only choice for lifesteal. Not only cause of your orb, but because all the other Lifestealing items have active spells.

Buriza-do KyanonMicheal's magic resistance and high damage already make him wicked scary. This just knocks it up a knotch. BAM!

Hood of Defiance If somehow the enemy casters are hurting you, the Hood of Defiance can make you alll but immune to thier spells. Still, it's not worth it in the long run when you could just as easily tank up.

One last tip: You all read that Micheal can't wield magic items and it's quite true. But his courier isn't so bound. Give him a dagon and learn why kill stealing rules.

Alright ladies, here are your best allies and worst enemies. Enjoy.

Allies:

Zeus - Lord of OlympiaShendelzare Silkwood - The Vengeful SpiritRigwarl - The BristlebackKing Leoric - The Skeleton KingBone Clinkz - The Bone FletcherHarbinger - The Obsidian DestroyerAiushtha - The EnchantressNortrom - The Silencer

The fellas above, along with others are all good allies for you. Why? Well take a look. Most of them have auto-cast spells. Why are they friends with you? Your first skill, Hatred of Magic. Yes, the auto-casts spells will make your skill go off if they're in range. It's the same principle behind Harbinger's Essence aura. Others are there cause they can spam like hell. You've probably wondering why Leoric and the Vengeful Spirit are up there. Well they have auras and auras can make you even more deadly. Moving on

Enemies:

Dark Terror - The Faceless VoidSlardar - The Slithereen GuardRhasta - The Shadow ShamanTiny - The Stone GiantRooftrellen - The Treant ProtectorRikimaru - The Stealth AssassinRaigor Stonehoof - The EarthshakerJah’rakal - The Troll Warlord

The fellas above are gonna be the biggest pains in the ass for Micheal. The reason? They can disable and/or stun him. For all his great strength and magic resistance, Micheal is still in trouble if he faces someone with disabling spells. Wondering why Riki's up there? Well Bard Man likes to play him from time to time and always gives him bashers. His high AGI gain and attack speed make him great at perma-bashing and his Permenant Invisibility makes him really hard to keep your distance from.

 Slaughterfest:

Boush - The TinkerEzalor - The Keeper of the LightPuck - Faerie DragonLeshrac - The Tormented SoulPugna - The OblivionHarbinger - The Obsidian DestroyerRhasta - The Shadow ShamanDarchrow - The Enigma

All of these dudes are fodder for Micheal. They all have very good INT scores, and therefore, lots of mana. All that extra mana makes them easy pickin's for Micheal and his ult. Plus, thier spells are all but useless thanks to Rejection of Magic.

Well Bard Man is done now.

I personally think the rejection of magic is not too powerful at all. When you look at Magina, this skill only gives 46% more than his and it prevents any allied help.

69 By Bard Man 2009-12-18

For everyone who thinks Rejection of Magic is too high, take into account a very important detail: HE CANNOT BE HEALED BE HEALED BY ALLIES. He can't even be buffed by them unless it's by an aura. Hence the need for Inhuman Power.

Also, no. He cannot use TP scrolls. No active items at all. Consider it a balance to his abnormally powerful skills.

If you liked the Story, thank Mangoman. Dunno if he's still around, but he wrote it.

Wow. Bard Man just noticed this hero was approved. I'd almost kinda forgotten about him.

Well, might as well check in. From what I can tell, you guys are mixed between love & Hate for him. So I'll just deal with the first page comments.

For those who don't like his STR being so high, please realizse that the points have to go somewhere when most is pulled out of his INT.

i want to see this guy in the game very much but he have one problem:if this guy will enter the arena antimage should leave dota at all.but i want to risk.anti is too item dependant and rarely played hero.this should be better one than magina.+ magina is good only in pvp. and this one should be good even in the 3v1 imao. so let the party begin

66 By Mr.BiBz 2009-11-02

OP... tank + dps? too much str and dmg... nice idea though..

65 By devil4dota 2009-11-01

and forgot about his ulti.. lol if ud give all passive skills and say 30% chance to deal 25% mana pool difference..thats totally ridiculous...
think of obsedian with some 2000 mana and this guy having having some 500 odd ... 25% wud give u 270 odd dmg... omg !! chaos.. and what for is mana for him ? to buy mech and pipe and use them ?

64 By devil4dota 2009-11-01

dude sorry to say this... but i guess u dont like int heros lol.. a total nightmare for an int hero... this guy and mage together..come on.. too much strength ..too much dmg a/s...

and now if u say pipe of insight's magical resistance stacks with his ..he wud hav 81% resistance with some inbuild resistance as well... thats insane...

63 By maomao888 2009-10-25

how bout he cant use the active skills on items but can use the passive skills, like he can get 25% lifesteal from santanic, but cant use unholy rage
and no tp scrolls cuz its magickz

62 By frano3 2009-10-24

Wow a passive agressive hero xD.
Altough his starting strenght is a bit OP.Maybe just decrease the STR grow. And also cant use magical items? What about tp scroll? xD

61 By Kollingk 2009-10-21

ok first unkillable hero :) but if one or two passives are reworked it is hero that is playable 8/10

60 By hyougen 2009-10-21

sweet story

too imba

59 By Blasting Illusions 2009-10-20

kinda dont like it
nice story, good hero idea but,...
the passive skills are... to passivly
like mr.leet said: literally anti-mage, but only difference is he has blink.

here is a active skill for this hero:

Power after Torment: deals dmg x-str and slows in AoE 250 for 30%

he hates magic right? then he gains power being tormented ok

58 By mr.leet 2009-10-20

too imba XD
hes like literally ANTI MAGE XD

57 By 7Heaven 2009-10-19

but forgot to tell:nice idea though.bravo

56 By Shimrra_3 2009-10-18

Tempted to warn you for using that thing-thats-not-a-word on this site, ever, at all. Tempted...

IMO the 35 STR is the only problem. That said, its quite a formidable problem ... this is good, particularly since I know exactly how old it is. 10/10, if only to balance out the deluded people giving 1s.

55 By Zorb effect 2009-10-17

I think he is seriously unbalanced. I mean, look at the initial STR, AGI+STR gain, and base damage! And psycho amount of starting health (probs from the STR). Nerf-stick, pl0x.

54 By nephritos 2009-10-17

i think it's quite balanced tbh. and just because he has 4 passives doesn't make him boring or a noobhero. Ever played troll? Activate melee+ulti-->smack. His just the same, only that the buffs and abilities he has are in-built as passive.

53 By Vita.NovA 2009-10-17

op?

also, i don't know what icreases means.

52 By Kevin-Oh-M-Gee 2009-10-16

Ok, first off all his skills are passive, which leads to a very boring hero, although it is a good idea perhaps you should add is at least 1 activation. However, that is just my opinion. This hero seems to be more geared towards someone who is new to dota. Good story, but with so much resistance to spells (46%), more than ANTI-MAGE. A good hero idea, but lets leave it at that. What with the all passive skills which are all imba skills (some what). Over all I'd give this a 6/10.

51 By Marcusstuff 2009-10-16

Great idea, don't let all these comments get to you Bard man, they're all crazy
