Lady Liadrin was the first to take the holy powers of the Naaru. She is the leader of the Blood Knights, an order of former priests and warriors who use the Light magics from the enslaved naaru M'uru. Her reasons to join the Scourge are unknown at this point, but her new allegiance is definitely a sign of malefice. She has great control upon mana being able to use it to heal herself or damper it from her foes. She is also able to summon her own magical pet while carefully enchanting her blade with siphoning powers. As any other Blood Elf, she is also capable of draining the magical abilities of another spellcaster.

Arkanikros (N)
Warps the mind of a foe, depleting some of its mana. If the unit has less mana than should be stolen, it is stunned for the rest of it. The skill can also be used to heal Liadrin.
Level 1 - Dampers 90 mana. Stun lasts 0.015 seconds/mana point. Heals 130 hit points.
Level 2 - Dampers 160 mana. Stun lasts 0.015 seconds/mana point. Heals 195 hit points.
Level 3 - Dampers 235 mana. Stun lasts 0.015 seconds/mana point. Heals 260 hit points.
Level 4 - Dampers 340 mana. Stun lasts 0.015 seconds/mana point. Heals 310 hit points.
Mana Cost: 85/100/115/130
Cooldown: 10 sec

Notes: If cast on an enemy with 100 mana at level 4, it will deplete his whole mana, and stun the unit for 2.34 seconds [0.0195*|100-340|].

Mana Wyrm (W)
Summons a Mana Wyrm in the vicinity of a unit with a minimum amount of mana points. At each level, the Wyrm is granted a new skill. The Wyrm has only 1 hit point, but a fixed amount of mana points and a 100% absorbing Mana Shield ability. The Wyrm has a -1.5 mana regeneration per second. If the skill is recast while a Wyrm already exists, the Wyrm's mana points are fully regenerated but a second Wyrm is not created.
Level 1 - Target must have atleast 100 current mana. Wyrm has 300 mana and deals 10-18 magical damage. Has Mana Flare ability.
Level 2 - Target must have atleast 150 current mana. Wyrm has 450 mana and deals 14-25 magical damage. Has Mana Flare and Detonate abilities.
Level 3 - Target must have atleast 200 current mana. Wyrm has 575 mana and deals 18-32 magical damage. Has Mana Flare, Detonate and Cleansing (removes all buffs from a friendly unit) abilities.
Level 4 - Target must have atleast 300 current mana. Wyrm has 650 mana and deals 24-39 magical damage. Has Mana Flare, Detonate and Cleansing and Arcane Blast (sacrifices half its mana to damage an unit for a quarter of it and slows its movement speed by 25% for 4 seconds) abilities.
Mana Cost: 120
Cooldown: 40 s

Notes: If you have a lower level Wyrm (let's say level 1) and you recast the ability for a higher level (level 2,3 or 4), the current Wyrm is not upgraded to the higher level.

Crescent Fury (U)
The following blows dealt by the Blood Knight cause double damage and drain life. Can be dispelled and lasts 20 seconds.
Level 1 - The spell lasts 2 blows and drains 15% of the damage dealt.
Level 2 - The spell lasts 2 blows and drains 23% of the damage dealt.
Level 3 - The spell lasts 3 blows and drains 31% of the damage dealt.
Level 4 - The spell lasts 3 blows and drains 38% of the damage dealt.
Mana Cost: 60/80/100/120
Cooldown: 15 s

Notes: By blow we refer to a successful attack (which causes damage and doesn't miss).

Leeching Spirit (N/A)
Permanently imbues Knights’ attack with a mana leeching attack. Moreover everytime a unit casts a spell around the Knight, he restores part of the spell’s mana cost.
Level 1 - Leeches 23 mana per hit, and restores 10% of the spell's cost.
Level 2 - Leeches 36 mana per hit, and restores 18% of the spell's cost.
Level 3 - Leeches 43 mana per hit, and restores 24% of the spell's cost.

Item-Build Strategy
Liadrin is mostly a support hero. Her skills define her like one. If you want to turn her into a hero killer you will need to rely on the right items.

Power Treads
Almost every hero could benefit from Power Treads, but Liadrin has a special use for it. She can move more swiftly and approach ranged heroes faster, in order to fully benefit from Crescent Fury and Leeching Spirit. It is also an excellent item for early running. You should get this really soon.

Sange and Yasha
Consider these a great addition to Power Treads. They grant even higher mobility and attack speed, necessary for Liadrin to unleash her melee skills. Maim can sometimes prove lethal, and in tandem with a stunning Arkanikros the enemy hero can't run effectively anymore.

Perseverance/Linken Sphere
Liadrin doesn't really have super high mana or life. Therefore, she will have to rely on refilling them fast. Perseverance can cheaply do this for you, and save you from a lot of trips back-and-forth to the fountain. Upgraded to the Sphere it can save you in critical situations against targeted nukers
who will not only waste their skill, but also some mana (perhaps opening a path to a stunning Arkanikros).

Crystalis/Buriza
If you are not satisfied with Crescent Fury you might consider some critical striking from these. I'd rather go with the Butterfly but some might find Buriza useful because of a bonus critical strike. Liadrin cannot get a double-critical strike (while in Crescent Fury, Buriza's critical strike will not work).

The Butterfly
Lady Liadrin is an agility hero. Therefore, the Butterfly may be the right item for her. Though it's not very cheap, she can greatly benefit from some bonus agility, even more attack speed (you should be leeching Mana like hell now) and evasion which is always good. This is a great addition to the Blood Knight, though a bit expensive.

Soul Booster
Again, I'm not very pleased with this item on the Blood Knight, unless Aghanim will improve her ultimate. However, some of you might like the bonus mana and life.

Lothar's Edge
Now this is what I call a perfect skill for Liadrin. With this, she could be deadlier than ever. Though again, it is not very cheap, it can really get you some surprise kills. It can grant you access to ranged enemy heroes. With high attack speed (and perhaps a fortunate Mame) you will be freely leeching mana. Perhaps you should get this before Butterfly.

Skill Strategy
Lady Liadrin is not easy to play with. Atleast she is not noob friendly, especially because she doesn't have some hard nuking/direct disabling abilities. However, with some experience and perhaps one or two correct teammates she can cause real havoc.

Arkanikros
I find this skill incredibly useful against any type of hero. Mainly it is used to empty the mana pool of a foe. If it is an intelligence hero he or she will most likely have to either get back to the pool or get some great mana regeneration items. This skill can be really annoying. However, it doesn't stop here. It is also useful against physical nukers, but it can be a bit difficult to master. The trick is to reduce the mana pool of the enemy either by using your ultimate or mana disablers (Magina, Lion or Nerubian Assassin) and then at the right moment use this ability for a kick-ass stun. The ability can also be used to empower a friendly hero by boosting his mana, but cannot be used on self.

Mana Wyrm
If you are a Syllabear fan you will like this wonderful creature. The damage it causes is not great (it is also magical so can be disabled) but it is ranged so it can be quite hard to catch. The Mana Wyrm mostly relies on its mana, because of the single point of life, and the mana shield granting him protection. Use Arkanikros on him to further boost his life and abilities. His skills are the key to success. Use Mana Flare to harm heavy spellcasters and Detonate to remove some nasty buffs. However, his most useful skill is Cleansing because even though it removes beneficial buffs, it can save you from awful spells such as Amplify Damage, Battle Hunger (one of the deadliest buffs in the game) and Silence. And let's not forget about Arcane Blast which will most likely be the favorite of many of you, because it is a great disabling skill. True that it requires quite a lot of mana (250) but in tandem with Arkanikros, it shouldn't be a problem.

Crescent Fury
Initially when you read this skill, you might think at Ulfsaar. I don't deny the fact that it may sound like Overpower, but I had this skill in mind for quite some time. The bonus damage is
just great and the life drain is always welcome. Not to mention that it even avoid evade. That's just great. However, keep in mind that Lady Liadrin is still a melee hero. Do not get cocky and jump in front of a ranged hero (especially with Eye of Skadi) because the life leech shall not save you. I do not suggest that you get this skill early, until you have some decent damage, so that the critical bonus is worth the skill, followed of course by the life leeching which is direct proportional with the damage.

Leeching Spirit
It's time Lady Liadrin had a passive skill too. After all, she's not a spellcaster, yet more a support hero. I definitely suggest that you get this skill as soon as possible, mainly because it goes extremely well with Arkanikros. Not only does it drain mana from the target, but also transfers it to you. The mana regeneration from spellcasting is also good if you want to cast more Arkanikroses, Crescent Furies and empower your Mana Wyrm pet.

Skill Combos (with other heroes)

Mana Break Leeching Spirit followed by Mana Void

Mana depletion followed by Arkanikros Stun and Mana Void damage.

Curse of the Silent Arkanikros

Can both nicely deplete mana and maybe cause a stun.

Amplify Damage Crescent Fury

Amplify damage will allow you to deal even more damage with Crescent Fury, resulting greater life leeching.

Changelog:

2007-01-31: Slightly increased attack cooldown from 1.19 to 1.29. Intelligence bonus inscreased from 1.7 to 1.95. Agility bonus decreased from 2.7 to 2.6. Strength bonus decreased from 1.95 to 1.8. ***Arkanikros mana dampering reduced from 120/220/335/420 to 90/160/235/340. Stun duration increased accordingly from 0.015 to 0.0195. Skill no longer regenerates mana for allies yet can still be used to heal self for a greater amount. Cooldown slightly increased to 10s, up from 8,5.

Wow, I like this one. Would be great to see how Mana Wyrm fairs in actual battle. Overall, a very well-thought hero. Puts Magina to shame. Hehe.

Whoah. Attack speed is waay too fast. Nerf to 1.4 for balance. Gains are fine. Stats are fine. Arkanikros is too powerful. Check Anub'arak's Mana Burn for comparison.

This isn't really Anub'arak. Liadrin deals less damage and attacks slower than Magina. But meh... I'll reduce it to 1.31.

You are right about Arkanikros, a bit too much mana drain. I'll reduce the dampering to 90/160/235/340. Keep in mind though that it does not deal any damage and the stun is highly improbable unless the unit is low on mana. Therefore, I will slightly increase the stun bonus (because in my opinion the stun duration was just fine) to 0.0195.

I'll just wait a bit more before I update it in case people come with other suggestions.

I reckon Arkanikros is too powerful as well - a huge mana attack + stunner OR healer?? Cooldown is pretty low too, its things like that that make, say Magic Missile really powerful and imba. Leeching Spirit, on the other hand, is confusing me, does it restore ALLIES' mana when they cast a spell? And would it work on Auto-Casts...? One more thing - item build. I hate hate hate HATE when people do this - why Treads AND BoT? If you want the Treads attack speed, grab a Butterfly or hyperstone, as long as you have the BoT movespeed. A cool hero overall, I'll wait to rate it after more people voice their opinions.

Ok, I will increase the cooldown, but the mana stuff simply reduces mana (does not cause damage) and the stunning takes place ONLY and ONLY if the spell completely depletes mana.

Leeching spirit strictly affects you and ONLY you. If let's say a unit near you casts a level 4 Dragon Slave (either enemy or friend) and you have level 2 leeching (meaning 18% regeneration), and you had 400 MP, then you would regenerate 25.2 MP, meaning that now you would have 425.2 MP. Clearer now?

And why both Power Treads and BoT? Simple! Power Treads remained from early game so you can get BoT for teleportation and THEN get the hyperstone or any other speed boosting item you want. I didn't go that far, because I usually end the game with power treads.

Really? Just because they are both mage disablers doesn't mean that she is a clone of Magina. Except the ultimate which passively steals mana instead of burning it, the abilities are completely different. I don't see how Crescent Fury could be a copy of Blink, Mana Wyrm a form of Spell Shield and Arkanikros some sort of Mana Void. I'm sorry, but this accusation is unfonded unless you can actually bring some serious proof. Just because two heroes serve a common purpose doesn't mean that one is the copy of another. Take Pudge and Centaur Khan. Don't tell me that because both of them rely on strength, one is the copy of another. I had this hero in mind even before I started playing DotA. You've really insulted me by coming with this unfonded comment.

Hmm, attack speed is a little high. Movespeed definitely. I still find these abilities a wee bit overpowered, combine with stat gain of, what, 6.35 per level? I dunno what to rate this yet, after a whole three weeks.

pretty good. i like the idea of the over all hero. but like everoyne else, im going to have to say that Arkanikros is uber imba. i love the idea of the stun effect for not having enough mana, just lessen the drain. like i would say have it drain maybe 280 max. think about it this way: if you were facing her, would you want to loose over 300 mana every 10 seconds? either cut down the mana leaching amount, or majorly upgrade the recast time. frost wryms would be an interesting one though to see in action. only other thing is i would take your ultimates mana leaching down a bit as well. this is an agi hero, so in the late game, it would be impossible for anyone to get a spell off facing her. besides that, a really nice hero idea. i would like to see her put into dota.

I think ppl are misunderstanding whats really imbalanced here. True the mana burn is rather harsh, but does no one see the effects of crescent fury? double dmg every 15seconds with those 3 hits being 38% life steal. And since the buff lasts 20 seconds, you can cast, wait, hit your tartget and cast again during the battle. Thats rather crazy, no?

good allies - mana drainers, also long disablers (to burn mana and to deal lots of damage to), maybe other synergy depending on how the mana wyrm works

Vlads for lifesteal and some mana regen, MoM if ulti isn't an orb (with this you could burn mana fast and then stun them and deal even more damage)

bfly for sure

linkens is good for extra hp and spell block

could get bfury for regen/cleave but not necessary

why? well I don't understand the wyrm so I wouldn't get it, Arkanikros is very useful early game for depleting mana and possibly stunning, once you get mana leech then you can spam crescent fury for plenty of lifesteal, stats help due to somewhat low health

wyrm not hard to catch with 1 hp, 1 attack kills

nice combos

creative, effort shows, needs some balancing, need to explain wyrm better
