There a different between sentry ward and dust. Most people prefer dust because of the "distance" it provide.

Sentry Ward - Use in early game to prevent harassment from invisible hero. Also allow you to control ur lane better. Sometime use in surprise ganks.

Dust - Use for mostly for ganks. It is prefered by most people because the enemy doesn't have to be in the "area" for u to see them. It make it easier to chase and kill.

Dust is used more for invisible heroes, and sentries are used to counterward.

i was playing a kor game as riki, so the other team got few wards. But my teammates just went around and every now and then, they would say, there's a ward here and break the ward. How'd they do this? btw, my teammates were gondar, rigwarl... forgot the rest

My opinion...I would use sentry wards at the begining of the game..if i knew that i would be facing a riki/gondar or any other invi hero...like in mid game i would get dust...just because u will be moving more and more from your lane and not farming that much...

This isn't a waste of money. What do you prefer early in beating broodmother. A gem worth of 750 or a ward (2 charges which is only 1/3 of the price) that costs 200. Even if you die in first blood, you lose 200+ gold. Why just buy those some wards for survival.

Rikimaru has always been able to buy wards. Its good to get Rikimaru Gem of True Sight cos it will counter this item. If your Rikimaru, don't buy the gem, wait for someone to drop it.
