His axes cut through the battlefield, his prowess hastens his attacks, his allies aid in battle, his roar crushes resistance. The Beastmaster. With skills that allow him to deal high damage per second, as well as for farming and scouting, he is good in both solo and team battles.
Rexxar

Rexxar - The Beastmaster

Range: | Move Speed: 310
Primary: STR
Str: 23 + 2.2 | Agi: 18 + 1.6 | Int: 16 + 1.9
Damage: 56 - 60 | HP: 587 | Mana: 208
HP Regen: 0.94 | Mana Regen: 0.65
Attack Speed: 0.69 | Armor: 5
Wild Axes
Wild Axes (W)

Level 1 - Each axe deals 90 damage.
Level 2 - Each axe deals 120 damage.
Level 3 - Each axe deals 150 damage.
Level 4 - Each axe deals 180 damage.
Damage type: mixed
This ability can hit magic immune units.
Wild Axes destroys trees.
This skill will not damage invisible units.
Casting range: 1300
Area of Effect: 100
Mana Cost: 120
Cooldown: 13
Comment: High potential damage and a good farming skill.

Call of the Wild
Call of the Wild (D)
Rexxar calls upon wild beasts to aid him. The duration, strength and number of beasts increases per level. Previous summons are removed upon casting. Summons last for 60 seconds.

Quilbeast has a poisonous attack which slows enemy movement speed and attack speed by 20% (35% for Greater Quilbeast).
Mana Cost: 25
Cooldown: 40 seconds
Comment: Useful summons for a very low mana cost. Hawk is good for scouting, quillbeast attacks slow the target.

Inner Beast (B)
Releases the inner beast inside nearby allies, passively increasing their attack speed.

Level 2 - 26% Attack Speed.

Level 4 - 40% Attack Speed.
Area of Effect: 1000

Cooldown: N/A
Comment: Is equivalent to roughly 2 Hyperstones when at its maximum. Very high attack speed bonus.
Primal Roar
Primal Roar (R)
The Beastmaster looses a deafening roar which deals damage and stuns its target. Enemy units near the roar wave take minor damage and have their movement speed and attack rate reduced. Due to the force of the roar, all units between the Beastmaster and his prey are shoved aside, creating an open path.
Level 1 - 200 primary damage, stun lasts 3 seconds, 100 side damage, slows for 50% and lasts 2 seconds.
Level 2 - 250 primary damage, stun lasts 3.5 seconds, 200 side damage, slows for 50% and lasts 3 seconds.

Skill Build

Early Game:

GAME START:

  • Purchase a Ring of Regeneration and/or consumables (lesser clarity potion/Ancient Tango of Essifation) Excess money can be used to buy Null Talisman or its components for more mana. no preferance in lanes, but opt for the top lane if Sentinel and bottom lane if Scourge.

LANE SCENARIOS:

  • 1 melee enemy: Best scenario for you. Harass enemy with quillbeast. If they keep distance, it is easier to do last hits. Win-win situation.
  • 1 ranged enemy: Slight disadvantage. Use quillbeast to harass the enemy or to get the last hit. If enemy has nukes and harasses you a lot, a lane switch may be a good option.
  • 2 melee enemies: Okay scenario. harass them with quillboar and gel last hits. Try to deny to build a level gap.
  • 2 ranged enemies: Request for assistance/lane switch. Very difficult to handle if the enemies are sensible(they will focus on you).
  • 1 ranged, 1 melee: Harass the ranged hero with quillbeast. Try not getting the quillbeast killed. Request for assistance if needed.

FARMING:

  • Use wild axes sparingly, make sure the hero and the whole wave is hit(killing 1 or 2 creeps). This is because you need to save mana for level 6.
  • Use quillbeast to increase chances of getting the kill.

PUSHING:

  • Do not push yet. Allow your opponents creeps to reach close to your tower. The opponent gets undeniable exp if the creeps get in their tower's range. Also provides safety that your tower is close, as well as keeps the enemy away from their tower.

KILLING:

  • Possible, but not a priority. To kill, harass enemy with quillbeast and wild axes until around half of their health. Make sure you have enough mana for another wild axes. Continuously attack enemy with quillbeast to slow it, then move forward and aim wild axes so that both axes hit the enemy, then kill with regular attacks.
  • When you have primal roar, primal roar a fleeing enemy, then wild axes to finish off.

FLEEING:

  • Continuously attack enemy with quillbeast to gain a speed advantage. Stay close to the tower unless you are at critical health(1 spell/attack can kill you). Return to base if at critical health(leave quillbeast to farm.

PURCHASES:

  • Build a Perseverance. Start with Ring of Health, then Void Stone.
  • Buy a Boots of Speed on your first return to the fountain. Buy a Scroll of Town Portal as well, for emergencies.

INVENTORY:

View Details for PerseveranceView Details for Boots of SpeedView Details for Ring of Regeneration

  • Inventory around level 7(may be easier/harder to get depending on lane scenario)

i usually get wild axes n beast rage first,i save call of the wild for later. my item build is: BoT,MoM,satanic, battle fury, linken's and heart.I also get MKB and divine.

211 By grimi 2011-07-02

feel this guid is a bit old....and MoM is waste of money for him instead go for vladmir's offering!(the life steal and the mana regen is good) and also update your bracer to a Jango, then you will just rock!!!

210 By warft 2010-12-24

@206 ur build same as mine :)

209 By hagrid952 2010-09-09

@206 i usually get 1 on call early, bird is like a free ward nd u can easily detect ganks (unless of course they have invi)

208 By shokwaav 2010-09-09

@206

altho you might think that call of the wild is useless because it's hard to control two.. the pig is amazing!!!! the slow is imba because during a battle, the enemy hero will attack you rather than the pig, giving you 'free damage' and 'free slow'... plus your friends get extra dps from primal roar

207 By Nochts 2010-09-09

i'll try this build:

PT
MoM
Bfury
Basher
HoT

Aegis used to be a buyable item with 3 charges of ressurecting you back at the fountain.

204 By kevinkillyou 2010-08-30

treads sorta suck

203 By Kel_Thuzad 2010-05-12

so I don't use Aegis but I buy Sange and Yasha for both stats and maim :)

202 By Kel_Thuzad 2010-05-12

sorry, but if your charges will ever runs out, that means you cannot have your Aegis anyomre an you'll be a soft punching bag in the next 10 minutes, is that item dependence?

201 By bennyhungry 2010-04-13

to everyone bagging on this guide for MoM, it was good in 2006 because inner beast was a totally different skill. instead of ias aura, the ias was cumulative with every additional attack you land on a single unit, so MoM would help the attack speed increase like crazy

200 By Stealth9 2010-02-20

sny
Treads
Assault cuirass
bfury
Vlads(only if nobody else on your team got)
Get stats instead of call of wild and focus on inner beast, onyl use your mana for ulti unless u can chase better with wild axes.

199 By Sarutobi[sasc] 2010-02-09

Lay off it guys, this build is from 2006. Any noob knows cranium basher is wortheless. -treads and phase are the boots. -necromicon is the core item. -AoM and HotD/satanic responds to rexxar's powerful dps. -assault cuirass helps his minions further. -And (first in leagues, one of the last in pubs) :) BKB!!!

198 By 123123 2010-02-09

So lame MoM for wat??bkb, heart better.useless guide

197 By sandallw 2010-01-14

nice build. i've try this and i get lot kill..

196 By Mar23 2009-12-27

No to linken shere!!!!

195 By l3uname 2009-12-02

NO WAY the most eficient gear is treads, vladimir, sny, mkb, buriza, and heart of terrasque

194 By gto3003 2009-11-22

i dun think MoM is needed for this hero....the third skill boosts enough atk speed for rexxar already. try offering+sny+bf+BoT+mkb+bkb. its better to hav sny to basher. 15% chance of stunning doesnt help much if that hero has high move speed like razor and sb
