This is my first ever strategy! I chose Zeus because he is quite a powerful spellcaster if handled right and given the right items. My strategy will focus more on making the most out of his spells, particularly Lightning Bolt and Thundergod's Wrath.
Zeus

Zeus - Lord of Olympia

Range: | Move Speed: 295
Primary: INT
Str: 19 + 1.8 | Agi: 11 + 1.2 | Int: 20 + 2.7
Damage: 41 49 | HP: 511 | Mana: 260
HP Regen: 0.82 | Mana Regen: 0.81
Attack Speed: 0.65 | Armor: 2
Arc Lightning
Arc Lightning (C)
Hurls a bolt of arcing energy that laces through many nearby enemy units.
Level 1 - Arcs 5 times, deals 85 damage.
Level 2 - Arcs 7 times, deals 100 damage.
Level 3 - Arcs 9 times, deals 115 damage.
Level 4 - Arcs 15 times, deals 130 damage.
Damage type: magical
The damage of Arc Lightning is not reduced with each bounce.
500 Area of Effect: the distance the Arc Lightning can bounce.
Arc Lightning becomes available for casting immediately after cooldown.
Mana Cost: 65/70/75/80
Cooldown: 2 seconds
Comment: I treat Arc Lightning as Zeus' main attack because: 1. His direct attack damage isn't so great. 2. I would spend most of my money on mana/spell and life items rather than damage enhancing items. 3. Arc Lightning's refresh rate is quite fast, so casting it again and again would be no problem.

Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt (G)
Summons a bolt of lightning from the heavens to strike a target enemy.
Level 1 - Deals 100 damage.
Level 2 - Deals 175 damage.
Level 3 - Deals 275 damage.
Level 4 - Deals 350 damage.
Damage type: magical
Gives true sight within 900 range.
Reveals the surrounding area (1000 and 1000 range on day and night, respectively) for 3 seconds.
Posseses a mini-stun, which allows Zeus to interrupt channeling spells and items with this ability.
Mana Cost: 75/ 95/ 115/ 135
Cooldown: 6.5 Seconds
Comment: Out of all, this is Zeus' best spell. For merely 75 mana, you can damage your enemy for 100, and even at 135 mana, the 350 damage is quite hefty.
Static Field
Static Field (F)
Whenever Zeus casts a spell, he will shock enemy heroes within 1000 AoE a % of their current HP.
Level 1 - Shocks for 5% of current hit points.
Level 2 - Shocks for 7% of current hit points.
Level 3 - Shocks for 9% of current hit points.
Level 4 - Shocks for 11% of current hit points.
The damage from Static Field is dealt before the damage from the used spell.
Using items does not trigger Static Field.
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Comment: Static field is useful if you cast spells beside strength heroes. But generally I leave this out of my build up until I've maxed out my stats. You'd want to give all the stats he can get because he needs extra hit points and mana if you want him to survive longer in the game.
Thundergod`s Wrath
Thundergod`s Wrath (W)
Strike down all enemy heroes with a bolt of lightning.
Level 1 - Deals 210 (400*) damage.
Level 2 - Deals 335 (500*) damage.
Level 3 - Deals 460 (600*) damage.
Damage type: magical
Reveals the surrounding area (1000 and 1000 range on day and night, respectively) for 3 seconds.
Gives true sight 900 range around each affected target for 3 seconds.
If a target is invisible it will get revealed (both vision and true sight) but not damaged.
Can be improved by Aghanim's Scepter (* shows the improved values).
Mana Cost: 225/ 350/ 450
Cooldown: 120 Seconds
Comment: Thungergod's Wrath is Zeus' finishing spell. I don't cast this until I'm sure that one of my enemies will die. Don't cast this in the middle of your attack, or else it will be a big waste.

Item Build:

1.View Details for Boots of Speed
Boots of Speed
(450)
50 Movement Speed
Note: Movement speed bonus doesn't stack with Boots of Travel, Phase Boots, Power Treads, or Boots of Speed.
Boots of Speed is optional at the start of the game. If you have enough money to buy this after buying the Ring of Health, go ahead.
2.View Details for Ring of Health
Ring of Health
(875)
5 HP Regeneration
I buy the Ring of Health basically to last longer and gain money and experience faster.
3.View Details for Perseverance
Perseverance
(1750)
10 Damage
5 HP Regeneration
125% Mana Regeneration
Note : Can be disassembled.
Ring of Health + Void Stone
After saving up 900, buy the Void Stone to form Perseverance.
4.View Details for Null Talisman
Null Talisman
(480)
6 Intelligence
3 Strength
3 Agility
3 Damage

Mantle of Intelligence + Circlet of Nobility + Null Talisman Recipe Scroll (145)

5.View Details for Soul Booster
Soul Booster
(3300)
450 HP
400 Mana
4 HP Regeneration
100% Mana Regeneration
Energy Booster + Point Booster + Vitality Booster
The Soul Booster is great for Zeus, for one it adds +400 mana and adds +450 to your hit points. The added 400 mana is what you need to cast your primary spells without worrying about running out. The added life is also key because Zeus is a pretty weak character.
6.View Details for Oblivion Staff
Oblivion Staff
(1675)
6 Intelligence
10 Attack Speed
15 Damage
75% Mana Regeneration
Quarter Staff + Robe of the Magi + Sobi Mask
Gives additional intelligence and mana, but its main purpose is to form the Refresher Orb.
7.View Details for Refresher Orb
Refresher Orb

6 Intelligence
5 HP Regeneration
200% Mana Regeneration
40 Damage
Active: Reset Cooldowns
- Resets the cooldowns of all your abilities and items.
- 375 manacost.
- 160 seconds cooldown.

Perseverance + Oblivion Staff + Refresher Orb Recipe Scroll
Once you get this item, you're set to dominate your enemies to kingdom come! This item allows you to cast Thundergod's Wrath twice in succession, which equates to a handsome 920 damage. Also applies to your other spells.
8.View Details for Ultimate Orb
Ultimate Orb
(2100)
10 All Attributes
The Ultimate Orb is only optional if you have the extra cash.
9.View Details for Linken`s Sphere
Linken`s Sphere
(5175)
10 Damge
6 HP Regeneration
150% Mana Regeneration
15 All Attributes

Passive: Spell Block
- Blocks most targeted spells once every 20 seconds
- Not triggered by Medallion of Courage of Urn of Shadows

Perseverance + Ultimate Orb + Linken`s Sphere Recipe Scroll
Also optional, but useful if you have a lot of area effect damage enemies/stunners/silencers.
Skill Build

Early Game:

Early in the game, I tend to keep Zeus out of harm's way by purchasing the Ring of Health first, if my starting money allows it. If not, the Ring of Regeneration (375) is a decent alternative, coupled by a few Flasks of Sapphire Water (100) and some Clarity Potions (50). I'm not saying that these items will keep you from getting damaged, but they will help in maintaining your hit points at a safe level.

Don't count on Zeus' damage to increase your wealth. I cast Arc Lightning instead on the creeps when the main target creep is just about to die. That way I get credit for that kill and thus the gold. At this early a stage, the key is to save up on gold and gain experience. Don't be too aggressive toward ranged or spellcasting enemies, as they will attack you if you come too close. The main disadvantage with Zeus is that his attack range is only 350, which makes you vulnerable as a target for a kill. Only approach an enemy if:

1. You're going to cast Lightning Bolt or Arc Lightning.

2. But before #1 condition, there must be enough creeps on your side between you and the enemy.

3. Before #2 you gotta be sure that the enemy doesn't have enough mana to do anything to you.

With a little success, you must have saved up enough money for the Ring of Health if you purchased the Ring of Regeneration at the start of the game. If you have 700, sell the Ring of Regen to buy the Ring of Health. Your next aim is to buy the Void Stone (900), to form Perseverance. This nifty item gives +100% Mana Regeneration, +4 HP/Sec Regeneration and +7 Damage. It ain't good enough for you to go on a killing spree, but good enough to, yes, persevere and gain more experience and money.

You can try to kill your enemy by casting Lightning Bolt and Arc Lightning on him every once in a while. The trick is to keep an eye on his hit points and your mana pool. Just like you, your enemies will want to stay in their lane for as long as possible. You can use that to your advantage if you play your cards right. Do not go near the enemy tower too often though, as this will greatly decrease your hit points and make you easy prey. So cast LB and AL away from their tower.

Why you people still comment about this guide
And then
static field is bassed current hp not max hp
also static field is very usefull to lower enemy hp in the initial attack
with lvl 2 static field
if you hit enemy with HP 2000/2000=140damage
if you hit enemy with HP 1000/2000=70damage
i think 1 or 2 lvl is static field early game is needed

BLEH?!?$@% where did that number come from... you get around 4 times every ~7 seconds. crazy!

502 By nooblet_pwner 2010-08-13

i agree with zeus needing stats, but i think static field is very strong. 11% every 5~ seconds (9.625 for 2x if you have insta-fingers) is an insane amount of damage when you're facing people with a lot of HP. it has the potential to turn a 130 damage 2.25 sec CD spell into a 300 damage 2.25 sec CD spell.
