This guide is the "Guide of the Month" winner for April 2009. Half-nasal, half-throaty - the noise of Rigwarl. Some players treat this hero as useless, hard to use, boring or hated. Its true that all he do is throw quills and snots, and all he say is gruntings and snortings. Still, you must use this beast. He is famous as a hard target to kill, and has potential to carry (which is rare on tanks). This is my third guide on DotA Strategy, and it's all about our quillboar hero.

great guide!

i am starting to like Bristleback....so i am trying to find a guide...and i find this one very useful...

444 By quale 2010-03-07

@ sandrikos
good for defense, bad for offense. with both vanguard and hood, rigwarl will just be a bulked tank. after one of the defensive item, go for the radiance and be a threatening tank.

443 By sandrikos 2010-03-07

awesome guide man!!!! and 1 question. Is it bad getting hood and vanguard together?

Rigwarl is such a great hero early game. Its easy to harass with him, just make sure you do it in bursts of mana.

I was able to harass the enemy laners early game, thus then giving ursa the opportunity to shred them to pieces. This secured the victory as ursa got a 6 minute killing spree.

Also, my lane enemy was RIKI :D what a coincidence

@ Nikolas21
thanks to your nice comment and vote. some readers suggest that i include that jungling video. it may be outdated, but it can still give the idea (especially for beginners) how to farm in the jungle with rigwarl.

@ KnightOfZer0
yes it is. it may not be that useful in team clashes, but this is your best item for defending and pushing. plus, tanks usually has huge HP. they will have fast HP regen with HoT. after surviving a clash, you won't need to retreat to the fountain.

434 By KnightOfZer0 2010-01-21

is HoT still a viable item on a tank like bristleback? (the regen is null in team clashes) is the hp and strngth increase worth it?

433 By Nikolas21 2009-12-23

Tbh I was bored to read the whole guide(I was even bored to try reading it). Finally I read it all 'n' I'm tellin' u that it worth the try.The guide is absolutely perfect. But I have to admit that the video showin BB jungling is very, very old.It has a creep camp near the tower of the scourge(the 2nd).Despite this there is nothing else to improve(just keep updating it as new maps are being published).10/10 OF COURSE.

This guild ROCKS !!!

Whenever I play BB
My usual build is
(In This Order)
Boots of speed
Vanguard
Treads
Vlads
Assualt Currias
Cranium Basher
Radiance
I have found this works find. The treads and AC give him incredible AS to go with his warpath, he doesn't really need MS b/c of goo and warpath. The radiance shelps with spray and basher turns him into a close to permabasher hero like Baratum or Troll.
