well.. strat about pushing and harrass only.. does not hlp much in hero killing.. hmm as for me... up ur fatal bond and upheval to assist u in killing... much effective
Hmmm...good guide Bryan, it mainly focuses on pushing. Although it lacks some tactics when killing, and you didn't mention the proper tactics using Upheaval as a support...... But overall good guide 8/10!!
his team mate must be naix because naix has poison sting that slow the enemy and this is how you do it:
naix rage then attack the enemy
warlock fatal bonds then rain of chaos
then continue the attack and the hero is dying use shadow word no one resist that
Upheaval pwns man, 84% slow is nothing to be laughing about. But non the less an OK guide
.
nice guide. but i think your item build lacks items for the Warlock's defense. Yes, he's a pusher, disabler... but he's also as soft as a tissue.
I'll give it 7/10 :)
It doesnt mean that if we lose we didnt make ur strategy its also in ur opponent how good theyare in using and countering this hero
5/10
nice guide 6/10 but i prefer warlock as support hero. meka, dagger, skaddi
actually i will play damage....
usually i farm until i have 3800 and buy a relic...then refresher...
i dont think the arcane ring is helpful to me
Vanguard early on for defense and two nulls.. and after refresher go for skadi for an added mana and life not to mention the frost so the infernal could whack the opposing hero more as it excapes.. of course a blink dagger won't hurt against gang bangs
Your style of playing warlock is correct. Stats/SW allows for awesome lane control.
HOwever, i feel that you over-did a few things,
1) Arcane ring, GG-Refresher gives warlock all the mana regen he needs.THe only spell u're usinng is shadow words and occasional ultimate. SW only cost 150 mana, Arcane ring is over kill
2) lack of survivability . Warlock is a fragile hero(not very but still am) and your build does not address this issue.(Necrominion does solve it, but its way late)
3) Fatal Bonds : I feel if you mentioned its usefulness in a team battle it would make for a more efficient warlock. Fatal bonding 5 enemy hero (or at least 3) is very very devastating for the opponent. Especially so if you are playing AOE strategies as it effectively increases all AOE damage by 20% or so.
4) Your guide contain alot of essence of playing warlock and it would be beneficial to readers if you paragraph it and put some images in to prevent your guide from becoming "A Wall Of Text" . (Your only image is the PL at the end :X )
I guess your guide would get 9/10 if you organised your details out and make a few changes to it in terms of items and skill build.
Hope that helps =)
GG-Strategy
Fatal Bound is quite useless?
>> Early game yes, but late game it is a good skill when all 10 heroes fight at the same place....
upheaval is useless?
>>nope u wrong, a good player will show u how great this skill is. it is definitely a good skill no matter 1 on 1 or 5 on 5...
the way u play warlock is good but not best... He such a great int hero with his nice skill....
he have more potential than what u wrote...
i didnt like it that much. not very presices not indepth not informative. try to make everything a bit morew detailed if you are planing anotehr guide. screenies help.
Ahh its ok but uvheaval is great with ur stone giant
TBH, I don't know how you can think Upheaval and Fatal Bonds are somewhat useless, Fatal Bonds goes brilliant with any AOE... Just Fatal Bond a group of heroes together, cast infernal on top of them cast upheaval strategically behind the enemy. Micro your Infernal and watch how all their health will drop! Permanent immolation + Pulverize AoE damage, on everyone, then as they're fatally bonded, each person who recieved the damage will give everyone who is bonded another 24%, if you link 5 heroes together, and aoe them all, you're basically doing double damage to them.
dagon and refresher orb....
much better!!!
you forgot to mention that Medusa is this guy's weakest enemy because a purge can instantly kill inferno. and try to add a counter if the enemy is medusa
A BIG MISTAKE FOR walalang medusa's purge now deals 600 damage to summoned units or illusions
refresher orb?? duh.. hav u heard of the item DIFFUSAL BLADE?? one purge, one golem.. easiest way to feed your enemies... tink about it...
I would buy Radiance for this guy...
This is an "ok" strategy..
In my opinion, you should lvl up your fatal bounds, before lvl 22-25, becouse its very usefull.
Otherwise i agree on your skillbuild... stats and "word" is the only way to go, thats why i dont agree in arcane ring.. you dont need that..
you dont need exstra mana when u did stats and word only..
Dota 6.43b is a bit unstable, warlock still needs to be nerfed a bit, he is too overpowered.
good strat thoufg.
6/10
WTF why not get fatal bonds !!! this is his 2nd signature skill because it makes your allies ulti more powerful!!! try using fatal bonds + golem + epicentr(sandking) + reverse(magnataur) + chain frost(lich) + golem(refresher) + sonic wave(akasha) !!!!!!!! in a 5v5 game it equals into a 3845 DAMAGE !!! PER HERO !!! EXTREME OWNAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, nice strategy..
buy dagon for killing rain of chaos +refresher orb+rain of chaos + dagon + upheaval = death
IMO all this guys needs for his main items are skadi and refresher, his infernal is so good, that skadi allows it to get more movement speed, also necro allows to be fast, but it only lasts for a cetain period of time. Skadi, refresher has got to be a give for this guy. Nice Guide though 8/10
I think.. Fatal Bond the hero + shadow word the hero + kill the creeps with fatal bonds = Nice Dammage
Your dammage 46-56
46-Armor = 40 dammage
40 * 6% =2,4 dammage/hit - Armor = 2 Dammage
10 Dammage/Second + Extra 2 extra dammage/hit when ur creeping = he/she can't go near, if he's far he still recive dammage
Fatal isa a good skill
Since the guide writer hasnt got time to answer , i'll pick off some points that i wanna comment on .
@ Aliyns (Essence of flaming due to fact that original comment show this guide no love)
Your strategy of bonding 5 units together and casting rain of chaos and pounding on them followed by upheavel is theortically logical, but practically flawed. Which decent team are you going to find without a stunner or disabler - As if they would let u channel upheavel while they are busily running away from a warlock that looks stupid
@ lari
Everyone single hero has a certain counter. Although diffusal is a sure-kill for enemies, its also vital to rememeber that not many league-viable heroes are suitable for diffusals (one eg of a viable league hero is vs - but shes so gank-oriented its hard to farm one diffusal w/o sacrificing her team's overall interest)
@ the dagon idea
As interesting as it sounds, dagon doesnt suit warlock . Dagon diminishes as the game proceeds and serves no team value (unlike necro book) and it actually costs MORE than lvl 1 necrobook..so-no-no-item-for-warlock
last point:
Dont know if you mention, i have read somewhere (reliable sourcE) that shadow words deals divine damage(ignores hero's resistance)
I usually use this strategy too...
Okay heres how it should go:
lvl 1-11 word, stats and rain.
lvl 12-18 bonds, stats and rain
lvl 19-25 finish stats and upheaval
fatal bonds is useless early game, ignore it completely!
upheaval can be useful in battles if you can use it properly but otherwise its useless.
items:
1. refresher
2. vanguard (optional)
3. skadi
the stats would cover you early game but you'd need to invest in a defensive item eg. vanguard.
otherwise good job 7/10
Why do you say upheaval isn't good? It is. To kill, have an enemy hero in your sight. The use rain of chaos*. Then use upheaval to slow the enemy hero while the infernal is killing him. Then if he's not dead use Shadow word. *If you have enough mana use refresher orb and summon 2 infernals.
um what does the infenal's pulverize do (again)?
@dWanderingNuts
Pulverize is the Infernal has a X% chance of doing X% of his total damage to units around him.kinda like battle fury cept random.
I'm sorry. I'm not sure if you can summon 2 infernals. Anyway, what do you do against Blinking heroes? Maybe a radiance or a Lothars edge will help. Unless you give the infernal a Kelens. Lol!!!!!
what about if i use dagon will that be a good item for that hero?coz thats what ive been using on him -WORD then Rain of Chaos and DAGON the hero....
i agree with the way your lvling skill build by the way dota aint a single player game its much more than that... TEAMWORK needed which means Upheaval needed also... Upheaval is a good skill when gang... somemore i dont think that the arcane ring is so an important item for warlock... since you master just 1 skill.... and willing to get a refresher....peseverence is good enough for that..6/10 for you.. chill dude
ya i played the warlock with dagoon also
but just for bnet game only ... for clan match or any of the match ..i prefer warlock to be a supporter but not a fighter
Your guide is messed up. Bonds midgame is a MUST. Tell me how bonds suck when the new cookiecutter scourge lineup is warlock, pudga, qop,sk and ts... bonds basically means double damage. Also, you forgot my favourite, CARRY WARLOCK. Arcane ring? nah, waste of 1.7k. Mention skadi/radiance combo or dr/hyperstones:D
i think warlock should be careful too when fighting with gorgon
I prefer some Power treads :D
@emotionally22
probably not that much now because purge only does 600 damage to summoned units "not"
Hmmm its a pretty good build. All I get for lock early game is a void stone and boots but I dont usally get boots untill lvl 7 then get Eules, then sheepstick, then get a refresher then a eules and just use him as A supporter but hes fun to haraas with
nice guide though you must equip him with a stygian desolator if ur going to be an offensive type... i'll give it a 7/10
Fatal bond useless is funny, upheaval is the useless skill here.
Fatal bonds can be used in team clashes to improve the damage of AOE nukes.
nice strategy dude
try buying refresher orb then skadi!!!!!!!!!!
BLADDDDDE..
Its a great Guide, tnks for sharing it with us!!
Can't agree with this build. Arcane ring is completely unnecessary. You can spam shadow word at will with pers/oblivion. Getting ring just slows down your refresher. The most valuable point in the game for Warlock is when he gets the refresher (around lvl 10-12) in that the dual ult dominates a push. You need to get refresher ASAP (and kill rosh right away with the dual ult). After refresher, I get travels and either skadi or dagon. I have like a 90% win percentage with Warlock.
I'd rather max up upheaval rather than stats for team support/ganking
the best item for warlock is refresher!!its unstoppable..keep up the gud work!!
U Can Do Something About Phantom Lancer Even he has manta
rain of chaos can be countered by a diffusal blade...
Fatal Bonds is a very good skill. One time I killed a hero with it. He had very little life and had gotten away but his creeps were fatal bonded. All I had to do was attack his creeps until his inevitable death came. Fatal bonds also works well if you link more than one hero with it.
i might sound like a noob for saying this but how do u deny anything such as your golem or w.e. or a friendly tower or a friendly creep? evrytime i try to deny something it doesnt work so plz could u tell me?
nice guide
i agree with respect and kula7,anyways i never knew he warlock was cool so thanks man
8/10

Support works better, IMO. Mekanism + Basilius + Arcane Ring gives you a lot of support to toss on your teammates.
seems ok 7/10 lol i usually get skadi first at level 12 but w/e!!
I think you underestimate the power of Upheaval in a team battle or when used in conjuction with Infernals.
good
this is my favorite..i did with it..Beyond GODLIKE!
...
this is what i do..
first..
i have eye of skadi..Guinsoo`s Scythe of Vyse..and refresher..and shivas guard...
and first i attack the person..and he attacks me..my hp gets low
then i use infernal..then i attack..the he wants to run...i HEX him! then another infernal..then slowing down him..HI IS FUCKED!
GET A DAGON SO YOU CAN NUKE THEM
not useful fatal bonds?!
deal 20% damage to heroes in big hero figt is sooo great!!
imagine using this spell on at least 3 heroes and hit them with infernal's aura and other harrass?! definitively useful to finish fleeing heroes
It depends on the game, to get Dagon or not. Refresher and Guinsoo's in a team game (with characters like axe, drow, ursa, etc, in your team) is plenty to win big fights. The bigger the fight, the better it is for Warlock ^_^.
Big-fight-sure-kill-combo:
open with Fatal bonds, Infernal, upheaval, guinsoo, (shadow word someone that needs healing/damage)refresher, fatal new heroes/units, infernal, upheaval, guinsoo... (another shadow word to finish...
two dagon works in place of guinsoo!
Upheaval is also NOT useless. *pouts*
84% slow is something when you got a dpser chasing him.(AFTER he's running from the infernal stun)
why would you fear phatom lancer? basicly warlock is the counter for him.
if you sue fatal bonds and hit the main one, all the images die pretty much :P
soryr but i disagree with upheaval, i use it regularly, 84% slow in 1 seocd in total, i chase down an opponent, send 2 infernals at them and sue upheaval in one direction, if they run at me, the golems catch up and get in 5 or 6 moe hits,
i agree with never using fatal bonds =]]
warlock is my main int hero asides from vol'jin
a stun is 100% slow.....beacuse the unit is not moving
upheavel will slow an entire and massive AOE with an 84% slow for a huge period of time and the colldown and mana cost isnt that hight either....its allmost like a huge AOE stun
Fatal bonds are very helpful IMO. 8/10
last game I played with lock, i had 0 death 0 kills but 10 assist. It is pretty simple from lvl 11 to be a murderer specially with ur build but not really with most of the items. But neway good strat
ok
ur not an idiot! but some things is there that makes u a moron^^ warlock is one of my favourite heros.. so dont fuck him upp.. get fatal bonds before u get uppheaval.. gj on the early stats though.. no need for bracers or shit if u got that.. but go BoT, refresher, guinsoo, shiva, ac and meka.. that makes 6.. what order u make it in u should consider depending on ur teammates.. and ur enemies (meaning heros ofc) but atleast go boots and refresher as first.. skip ur arcane, and to be continued!->
if ur really really good, like mealk goodwith necro, and G.O.D (Glory Of Destruction) u can go necromonicon instead of AC, mostly bcus there should be someone else going AC in ur team, someone who benefits more from itmore than u.. like Tiny for example! now.. i think i have said mine... to all who are smart.. do this and ull beat MYM, i did.. lol^^ peace! 8/10
alright guide if you're a MAJOR noob
but i don't think you described the full potential of the warlocke. i think he can be much more effective with his other two spells if used correctly. you don't go into any detail explaining the necronomicon.
nice guide but ur item build sucks...
