Early Game:
Introduction to Magina
Anti-mage really lives up to his named. Armed with the skill “Mana Break,” Magina can burn mana from units with just his attacks and deal extra damage while he’s at it. His skill “Blink” also allows him to teleport short distances, gaining him extreme maneuverability. He also has “Spell Shield,” making him more durable against magical spells. Finally, his ultimate skill “Mana Void,” greatly damages units that are low on mana. This skill works extremely well with his “Mana Break.” Although Magina’s early game may be shaky, he will definitely be able to take down even the greatest of spellcaster’s down later in the game.
Why Play Magina?
Pros and Cons
Pros
Very strong against nukers Very maneuverable Strong Carry Very good attack animation Good armor Good Agility Gain (2.8) Good starting movespeed (320) Blind, but he can see…with his mind.
Cons
Tiny strength gain (1.2) Blink’s animation shows which direction you go Not that great of a mana pool Not that great of an intelligence gain (1.8) Early game is a bit hard to get through
Starting Items There is no specific starting item build. You should just basically revolve around these items…

If you noticed, they are all stat items. Stat items are very important, especially the Ironwood Branches. They are the most cost efficient items in the game and can be turned into a nifty Magic Wand later on.
You should also have some of these in your items…

Laning
Justifications
If you’re laning against those hardcore spamming nukers like Magnus, then this would be a better Skill Build. Blink 2. Spell Shield 3. Spell Shield 4. Mana Break 5. Blink 6. Mana Void 7. Blink 8. Blink 9. Mana Break 10. Mana Break 11. Mana Void 12. Mana Break
The side lanes are recommended because of the access to goblin shops. You can make Power Treads and Poor Man’s Shield without ever going back to base.
Understanding Your Skills Mana Burn • Damage type: normal Look here for some extra information.
• Deals 0.6 damage per point of mana burnt.
• Mana Burn is blocked by magic immunity.
• This skill is an Orb Effect.
• You can lifeleech the damage dealt by this skill with a Lifesteal aura.
Blink
Why max blink asap?
Blink gives Magina extreme maneuverability. Although he lacks health, his speed and agility make up for it. Blink is extremely versatile and you will find yourself banging your head saying, “Why didn’t I max Blink first?!” because of dying to your blink’s cooldown.

Mana Void
Mana Void deals damage according to your targets mana and how much of it is missing. The more mana the target is missing, the more damage you do. Furthermore, Mana Void deals Area of Effect (AoE) damage. But the skill only targets one unit. The damage dealt in the AoE is the same (ignoring each units separate magic damage resistance). But all the damage comes from whatever damage the targeted unit takes. For example, you use Mana Void on some hero. That hero takes 200 damage. That means all the other units within the area of effect will also take damage, regardless if they have mana or not. Also, you can’t target units with no mana pool at all, like ghouls and treants.

Make sure you get the Quelling Blade as soon as possible. It is a great tool to help you farm.

You do not have to get vanguard, although it is a fairly good item considering Magina’s strength gain. But if you want to skip vanguard and go for other items faster, you can try out this build.

This gives you some damage along with the health of strength treads and some protection from Poor Man’s Shield. However, if you pursue this build, I would advise you not to play too aggressively because you have less health than you would having a vanguard.
