Venomancer is one of my top heroes in DOTA. You can build him either as a hero killer or a pusher. It depends on how you want to play him. This guide is dedicated to build him as a hero killer
Lesale Deathbringer

Lesale Deathbringer - The Venomancer

Range: | Move Speed: 290
Primary: AGI
Str: 18 + 1.85 | Agi: 22 + 2.6 | Int: 15 + 1.75
Damage: 46 48 | HP: 492 | Mana: 195
HP Regen: 1.29 | Mana Regen: 0.61
Attack Speed: 0.72 | Armor: 3
Venomous Gale
Venomous Gale (E)
Releases a Venomous Gale which poisons enemy units it comes in contact with. Poisoned units take initial damage, damage over time, and have their movement speed slowed for a short duration. Lasts for 15 seconds.
Level 1 - 50 strike damage, 10 duration damage.
Level 2 - 70 strike damage, 20 duration damage.
Level 3 - 70 strike damage, 40 duration damage.
Level 4 - 100 strike damage, 50 duration damage.
Damage type: magical
Allied unit can be denied if under effect of this spell and has less than 25% of his Max HP.
Duration damage is dealt every 3 seconds.
Casting range: 800
Area of Effect: 125
Mana Cost: 90/105/120/135
Cooldown: 22
Comment: This is an essential skill for Venomancer. This will set your hero killing. Once you have inflicted shadow strike it will deal an inital damage and poison damage for a duration of time and most importantly it slows the opponent and you can hit him with your normal attack.

Poison Sting
Poison Sting (T)
Adds poison damage to this hero's normal attacks, slowing movement speed. Lasts 7 seconds.
Level 1 - Deals 5 damage per second. Slows movement speed for 11%.
Level 2 - Deals 10 damage per second. Slows movement speed for 12%.
Level 3 - Deals 15 damage per second. Slows movement speed for 13%.
Level 4 - Deals 20 damage per second. Slows movement speed for 14%.
Damage type: magical
Damage from Poison Sting can kill.
Poison sting is a buff placer.
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Comment: Another good skill for Venomancer, since it adds poison damage to your normal attack and it slows opponents' movement slightly.
Plague Ward
Plague Ward (W)
Summons an immobile serpentine ward. The ward is immune to magic. Lasts 40 seconds.
Level 1 - 75 hit points, 11 max damage.
Level 2 - 200 hit points, 21 max damage.

Level 4 - 450 hit points, 42 max damage.
Damage type: piercing
Casting range: 850
Mana Cost: 20
Cooldown: 5
Comment: Since this is a hero killer build, having this skill is not advisable. Just priotize on the 2 skills above his ultimate skills and his stats.
Poison Nova
Poison Nova (V)
Creates a ring of noxious poison that damages enemy units.
Level 1 - 36 (58*) damage per second. Lasts for 12 (14*) seconds.
Level 2 - 58 (81*) damage per second. Lasts for 14 (15*) seconds.
Level 3 - 81 (108*) damage per second. Lasts for 15 (16*) seconds.
Damage type: magical
Cannot deal lethal damage (target will be left with 1 HP).

Can be improved by Aghanim's Scepter (* shows the improved values).
Mana Cost: 200/ 300/ 400
Cooldown: 140/120/100(60)
Comment: This one of the deadliest ultimate skills in DoTA. It poisons everyone hit by it for 12 seconds and if it is in level 3 it deals 81 damage/sec (w/ aghanim scepter 108 damage/sec). Ouch...

Note: Clicking the item will toggle whether Armor Aura affects heroes and units, or just heroes. Can be disassembled.
Ring of Protection + Sobi Mask
For extra armor and mana regeneration. Good item early game since venomancer needs mana for shadow strike and poison nova
3.View Details for Ironwood Branch
Ironwood Branch

(450)
50 Movement Speed

18.View Details for Hyperstone
Hyperstone

this is a neat item for venomancer if you have enough damage... he would be like a machine gun
Skill Build

Early Game:

Start the game with buying ring of regeneration and ring of basilius.. for HP and mana regeneration.. if you have gold left you can purchase ironwood branches or spphire water and clarity potions... Then choose a lane.. i suggest going top or bottom lane so that you have an opportunity to backstab heroes. During early game all you can do is farm, farm and farm to have enough gold and also to level up... its nice to have boots and a sange atleast once you have earned enough gold... once you have reach level 7-8 here the killings begin... Here are my strategy for killing heroes using venomancer.. Killing Strategy 1: (Head On) - This is a face to face action against an opponent... you start it with hitting the opponent with shadow strike and once he is taking damage from poison and he slows down.. hit him with your normal attack then use poison nova. For sure kill. Killing Strategy 2: (Back Stab) - This can be done mostly on the top or bottom lanes.. wait behind the trees were the opponent's can't see you..Let him push up to or close to your tower.. then go behind him and activate poison nova then hit him with shadow strike. Once the opponent slows down hit him with your normal attack until it dies.. * usually target int and agi heroes since they have low HP * for str heroes i suggest doing strategy 1 since they have more HP and damage.. You can hit them once in awhile to lessen their HP then when you have damage him atleast 1/4 of its life you can do startegy 1.

You shouldn't be able to get loths and aghs, much less a travel in a serious game.

178 By McFLy_STuNKiNG 2012-08-05

i build him bottle, crow, threads/travel, lothars, then aghanims. . .

177 By ghost1997 2012-07-12

Go venomancer B)

176 By ian900 2011-08-07

i use wards to block my enemy's path. Use the poison sting bonus to pre-slow them using the wards too. What im trying to say is WARDS is anything you want to be. Wards open a door of possibility in micro-ing and mind games on enemy, its on the placement that determines ward use.

175 By Sentineled 2011-08-07

I used my own plan- hit until the enemy have his life below 40% use Venomous Gale to slow him and keep hitting until the enemy dies. I have gotten a first blood when Im Lv1.

174 By Akshay 2010-10-16

When i say it i meant to reffer to the plague wards

173 By Akshay 2010-10-16

Yeah I agee with Every thing except the Skill Build. Its Crazy.I think u need to upgrade it in mid game it self

172 By SpectreSho 2010-09-12

getting plague ward to kill Roshan is also good. you just need to tank him

171 By GawDzilla23 2010-06-17

1. I don't think they stack
2. Hotd is not necessary
3. If your opponents are smart, veno will never get a kill, poisoned heroes can be denied

170 By hani_cute 2010-06-16

1. Is sange stack with Poison Sting?
2. Movement speed is important, either in early, middle or late game,, if our enemy is pro, they will try to kill u anytime in any chance.
3.Ageis of immortal only charge one life lol.
4.If you take 2 butter, the evasion will not be accumulated, imagine if we get 4 butter,,100% miss?Aww...^^?
5. I usually get this build
starting:bassilus+tango
go to bottom,try to get:
>ring of health
>boot of speed
>finish vanguard
>thread agi or skip this to boot of travel later
>quarterstaff
>claymore
>finish lothar
>try to take butterfly
>helm of dominator
>if u don take thread,get travel

finish item:
1.thread/travel
2.vanguard
3.lothar
4.butter
5.dominator/can be upgraded to satanic
6.situasional,,manta/linken/etheralblade/dagon (for fun)

Great guide overall dude! But having all those expensive items would mean to much to earn for noobs like me. When I started to use venom, I tried phase instead of treads, then yasha, a buckler and some circlets. Then after that, you can obliterate enemies early. I've seen skilled gamers use easy-to-build skillset.

168 By _RedScar_ 2010-06-10

Not all can speak English that well. Instead of bad mouthing at his mistakes, let's try to teach what we think is appropriate.
Good, Better, Best! Never rest until good is better and better is best. Try to use 'better' dude instead of 'good' if you want to compare two things. =D

167 By zakaria 2010-06-10
