I wish to add another thing: you forgot Hyperstone. With 2 bashers+ hyperstone, you pwn ALL! And even all those 'feared' heros above can be pwned with speed and permastun.

I usually go with: (2 bashers) + (Bfly) + (threads) + (Buriza) + (hood)

With those, after lvl 16, I usually get BEYOND GODLIKE streak unless all my teammates are nubs.....

this is a good solo build IMO but in 5v5 games i prefer to go dps only because your main goal in 5v5 team games is to take out heroes ASAP. you do this buy buying crazy damage + items. my 5v5 build for him is...

You forgot to state that you need to complete the HoD before you get a level of Spell Shield for it to stack properly. If you don't the HoD is pretty pointless.

Also a minor point, item orb effects will override manaburn, not the other way around.

Overall not a bad guide.

If you look in the mid game pics you had bracers treads and two R.o.R (supposedly working towards H.o.D) at level 11.

but you said get spell shield at level EIGHT.

this is why i recommend getting spell shield after maxing out blink and mana burn.

1. IMO to use Blink effectively i believe that you have to level it up to level 4 right away because the cooldown decreases very much to the point where you can chase. a level 2 blink (which you got early game and them maxed out blink later) will only provide you with one blink-two blinks for a chase. and most times they can out run you after that.

2.also its very hard to farm for 2 bracers, treads, AND H.o.D by level SEVEN. (you got mana shield at level 8).

so saving it for later is logical in that sense. also if you put a skill point into mana shield once, you have to maxe it out because 10% does nothing.

alright i'm done.

one last thing. i wouldn't neccessarily say that brad and fuzzy wuzzy are worst enemies. i mean, u will have a hard time killing them, but they will have a hard time killing you (you have blink) and they have no long range stuns/slows/disables ETC. so yea.

And if you need to get spell shield before finishing defiance, why not just make HoD, then when you learn lvl 1 spell shield (after making HoD) just drop the hood of defiance and pick it up again? Would that allow proper magic reduc stacking?

youre comment is confusing...

If you get Spell Shield BEFORE H.o.D it doesnt stack.

If you get Spell Shield AFTER H.o.D it WILL stack.

Zzzzz, Well your typical Magina guide, nothing really special or new here, I mean how many ways are there to play Magina anyway? Simple straight forward and puts you in the right direction.

You don't need hyperstones if you have a Butterfly its kinda of a waste of money.

there are two ways to play magina, first is the perma-basher magina, the other is the dps magina.
your guide explains the perma basher magina well enough, so gj on that.

item build:
i think cuirass is a good late game item for magina. (i) the hyperstone increases your permabashing capabilities. (ii) the armor bonuses together with butterfly will make you almost immune to physical attacks. (iii) going perma-basher has one drawback: relatively low dps. the armor reduction from cuirass helps solve that problem.

skill build:
the other posters are right, you should elay mana shield to stack it with defiance.

other important stuff:
blink - in my oipnion, the blinking should be the top priority of a magina guide. you ahould discuss what, how, when, where to blink. instead of putting screenies about killing with magina, i feel screenies of blink spots are more important.

Kinda every Magina I meet use this build...:P So it's very common. But remeber that you don't need the Hood if your not facing nuker heroes.

Thanks for the tips guys, I made a mistake and put one level of spell shield at level 8 but that was meant to be a stat point after i maxed out blink and mana burn. Spell shield would be levels 12-15

Cuirass is a good item if you are building a DPS Magina and the extra armor makes you incredibly damage resistant. The effects of the cuirass also helps you kill easier.

good guide, i liked the pics. pretty standard magina guide, although im suprised you didn't include SnY. yes i know its an orb effect, but only on the maim hits will it cancel out the mana burn. id rather have the slow from the maim then the mana burn on one hit, and it makes you attack and move faster

and "how" to blink? uh, point and click?

and the where and the when were already discussed on the guide dude. look in mid game...

So you should almost always blink behind the hero, this answers your "where"

what im saying is:

WHAT - what is blink, not what to blink. what is blink, its many uses, its range (1000 is max but if you click it somewhere more than 1000 units away, you'll blink for only about 800 units), and other stuff like you're invulnerable a split second when blinking.

WHERE - blinking next to enemy doesnt answer everything about where to blink. he already provided some screenies of cliffs, but there are lots of more common and useful places he didnt include (from sent secret shop to sent first tower top). im asking for those places.

WHEN- again, blinking when creeps engage isnt the answer to 'when to blink'. answers to when to blink include team battle scenarios, especially against disablers. simply blinking at the wrong place at the wrong time will get you killed.

HOW- the answers to 'how to blink' may include spell dodging, and blink-catching. spell dodging is blinking a split-second before a spell hits you, thus dodging the spell. blink-catching is not just blinking right next to enemy, but blinking to the place the enemy is going to. so when you land on the place, you will "creep block" your enemy, allowing for a few more hits.

But as many people has told:
- Delay Spell Shield before completing HoD
- Only get HoD if you face multi heavy nukers. Because if they have only one, you will probably wipe him/her out very easily
- If you face multi tankers, you must get Vladimir Offering/Assault Cuirass (if you farm well) because you are too fragile - 5 seconds is enough for Mortred to finish you !
-In the Epic battle if you may face all type (nukers, tankers, hunters),use the
same methods as for Nukers because they are most powerful.Remember that Vladimir Offering is an luxury item so get the needy item first :HoD,Basher, Butterfly,
Vanguard, Assault Cuirass. After all, Farming/Lvling takes 40% of victory so try to farm well and become the One !

Wow awesome. I personally go for a Vanguard because it makes farming so much easier (creeps don't do squat to you), but Hood works just as well I think. I really like Hood actually, because you can start with the two Rings (assuming you randomed -.-) and THEN buy the Helm without losing exp. But hey, I've only gotten good with AM recently so I'm sticking to what I know for sure...

nc guide, but i actually dont get hood. reasons: 1. yah already have a skill which reduces spell damage, 2. it would be better to replace that with linkens. 3.or you could replace it with some other better attacking items like buriza vladimirs(since its no orb effect),devine or something else, yah dont need spell reduc cause your enemy is permastuned. Nothing new, the average antimage. twin basher butterfly combination.
oh yeah! before i forgot. i only get teras if its 5 on 5. i only use vladimir since he is atack oriented hero. tip: only engage anti mage if there are 1-2 heroes. . but its a very nice guide.

You should get the bashers first because u have high atk speed without your butterfly so you can still get the chance to bash often. The butterfly comes after to make it worst for your opponents.

If you want to make it more precise,Diffusal Blade should not be added in the 'ITEMS NOT TO GET' section as well...........

If i play as magina i go for two basher and power treads and vanguards and if my enemy is spell caster,i buy HoD...i think Power treads,basher and vanguard are primary item that you could get first to dominate your lane and hunting heroes...after that maybe butterfly,buriza,etc...

AH!! U mostly went for the ATTACK but @ Late game ur opponent will basically aim @ u coz u leak there mana + MAGINA 's HP suxx totally ... the only thing to do is blink Hood of defiance with 3/2 bracers is a must .

I know orb effecks do not stack but, do manta style's orb override your mana break? If does not and you use manta's ability all your images will have your Mana break. Will someone test this plz??

i think you should add assault cuirass here. it helps with mana burning. also, hood of defiance is optional whenever your enemy relies on magic, otherwise get vanguard. nice guide.

mana burn does not stack with diffusal blade/manta style, nor does any other orb effect, the problem is now, does mana burn override certain orb effects? please mention them..

this item build is the standard for most magina users i think, glad you pointed out the uselessness of orb efects on magina, i think you can consider revising your game tactics, show when to use mana burn etc.

Yeah Vlads is a good idea because it lets you be able to stay in lanes longer without having to return to the fountain to heal.

i dont agree..with battle fury the enemy can still fight back but with 2 basher the hardly can..and what if your fighting a strenght hero with higher DPS? youd get pawned quick!...but with bashers it hardly matters his bashed anyway

actually if the basher triggers then the MKB triggers the MKB cancels the bashers effect therfore you end up with a shorter bash...bad build.

This is a great guide with nice pictures. I've just started to own with AM, so what I've noticed is that the most critical part of his build is what order to build after the HoD. I usually get Bfly afterward, and it works fine. Do you get bashers first or Bfly? That's a very important question, given that 1/3 of the game will be spent getting gold for one of these. Otherwise, good AM strat that I see used often. HoD ROX on AM!

Can Magina kill Meepo the Geomancer?

Well Magina would have to do what most heroes do in order to beat Meepo and that is constantly kill him in early and mid game in order to keep him from getting his items and levels. However if you let him fulfil his inventory and levels it may be a hard fight.

I think its a good guide, except that I get a vanguard instead for a hood of definance. It boosts hp and you can take additional dmg from creeps while going for the kill. I also get two wraithbands to boost my atk speed and dmg. I also get the butterfly before the second basher. Otherwise a good strat. I can recommend vladimirs offering on magina since it is not an orb. It really pwns.

THIS IS THE MOST BEST OWNAGE GUIDE EVER. This is EXACTLY the same as what i get. Except i dont get hood of defiance and i get 2 wraiths insted of 2 bracers.

Vlads is excellent, especially if they have, say, Axe, or Mortred, when you SERIOUSLY need the lifesteal. I get Bashers first (after a tank item - I still prefer Vanguard and I have not gotten AM since I said that, somewhere up there, so I haven't tried HoD yet -.-) and then Butterfly + Vlads + Linken etc.
Funny how I manage to do better than 0-7 (ie, opposite) about two days BEFORE this guide comes out. Lol. I reckon I'd've used this though. Good guide (again).

that is a good build. but you have 1 more item that u could fit in. i would get hyperstone. then eventually assult cuirass.

This has many flaws. Trust me.. i got beyond godlike 3 times yesterday.
1. Don't waste money on hood when 40% spell reduction is enuf.
2. Don't sell your bracers cos u need to str.
3. Blink is very very very very very important.
Overall exactly same items i get.. besides hood. LOL got beyond godlike HOOLY SHIT HOOLY SHIT DOUBLE KILL with AM so fun.

Your build is good but i dont think u will need the hyperstone if you have butterfly so you can change the hyperstone to an assault cuirass or something that increases hp if you think you need it.

It will but you dont need more than two because more bashers will be useless.

1x Basher = 15%
2x Basher = 15% + 15% OF THE REMAINING 85% (12.75%) = 27.75%
3x Basher = 15% + 12.75 + 15% of 72.25% (10.8375%) = 38.59%
Now, if AM is attacking how fast, how much Bash does he NEED? He can easily attack four times in a second with the right items, so thats an 100% chance to Bash once per second with 2x Bashers, thus achieving permabash - so why 3? It is not necessary.

I dont think that might be such a good idea bcuz its likely that Fvoid will go for almost the same build (the 2 bashers) so u might want to try another hero such as a disabler (shadow shaman,demon witch) or maybe centaur.

2 bashers + speeding item like bfly or hyper.. perfect for AM provided that you won't get killed early games. My frend tried AM and I'm Viper. I guess he's very agressive that's why he didn't even stand a chance against my viper.. He didn't even care I have 2 blademills hehe..

However, it would help if you went on to emphasise not to blink next to the opponent your chasing, but INFRONT of him

Also sorry for the double post, but the advantage of blinking infront of your opponent is that u may get 2-3 hits in before you have to chase him down again. Also if you do it properly it's called a blink catch, this is when you precisely blink infront of the hero and it's timed so that the hero your chasing moves back slightly this enables you to get 3-4 hits in. Blink Catching requires a lot of practice but it's well worth it.

3 Bashers stack. They just stack very... very badly. Not worth it, get more attack speed. Late game, easily replace one Basher with another Butterfly; when you have no choice that is.

what the heck's wrong with Linken Sphere? why is it that it doesn't work on Magina's Mana Void. I've tried it, I mean it works the time Magina cast to you the Mana Void (the item activates) but still you get the damage.. uh! what's the use? activated but still you get the damage and get killed, useless!

first level of mana void deal .6 damage for each mana missing.If the oppenent has 100/200 of his mana, i cast level 1 mana void one him/her. After calculation the opponent will receive 100*0.6-20%(20% reduction in a hero natural casted spell resist,right?i read from the comment) = 48 damage?

second-spell sheild
as people here comments that getting HoD then only go for spell sheild,with this only they stack. So is the stack here means total spell reduction is 30+40=70% or indirectly 30+(70*40%)= 58%? Again, each hero has 20% castable spell reduction,so does it stack into it?

third-not a magina question,hope u guys dont mind

this is also why your only teammate is a spirit breaker, whilst you seem to be fighting 3 or more enemies...

dude. don't get ai screenshots. it doesnt prove anything. unstoppable at level 11 isnt much if you're fighting ais. which is why u never really see any of his allies/enemies casting any spells. and also why he erased the names..just play with real people.

If you're pondering whether getting a bfly or a hyperstone for any agi hero just remember that 1 agi point for a agi hero is roughly around 1% aspd bonus. thats why i dont suggest the hyper on AM

The reason for that is that i dont have any replays against people with anti-mage and since magina is not hard to use i just played against an AI to show the basic things to do wen u r using Magina. @ Pro200™ = Satanic is one of those things, starts with 'O' has an 'r' and ends with 'b'... Bashers are preferable. Especially against people who can disable you. Which is most of them.

I think maybe is better at begin use Vanguard instead of bracers so now you dont need hood of defiance either.Then do Power Treads and one basher.Over one basher you can buy quarterstaff and spare on butterfly or you can buy hyperstone and create cuirras or simply use usual hyperstone and do butterfly earlier.Your atkspeed is good enought for 1 basher so you couldt waste for another one.Other free bars you can use for Monkey king bar (does your patk more faster yet) or you can buy Vladmirs Offering and replace Vanguard by Heart and no one cans bring you a stop

Ministun off MKB will terminate Bash permaturely. Bad idea. And until you get at least one Butterfly - Hyperstones aren't nearly as good - you will need Twin Bashers. Swap one Basher for a THIRD Butterfly if you're in that scenario.

I do the same item build except I do butterfly first and no second basher but hyperstone, but usually game ends at power treads, hod and one basher and some bracers.
I think u do not need 2 bashers cuz with the agility u already have enough bash and a second basher which costs more then 3000 isnt in my opinion really worth the extra Pct bash/dmg. I prefer butterfly first & hyperstone.

i just played against a krob/luci in the same game and got owned because i couldnt blink in the early game pushes i think you should add silencing heros into your guide as to stay away from but goog guide 9/10

@ 100pct_skillz = I think others will agree with me when I say that Twin Bashers is necessary for permabash. You can't guarantee you'll be able to SUDDENLY have a whole Butterfly and Hyperstone (see above point on Hyperstones, not worth it...). Also - regardless of whether this applies to anyone else - my next item after the second Basher is Vlads at least 50% of the time: not more attack speed. Again, as I've commented somewhere recent, cutting it to one Basher should only be when you have lvl25 and +120% or so attack speed from 2-3 Butterflies.

When facing those heroes in early game just last hit and deny as usual and only blink in if u are goin for a sure kill so u wont have to rely on blink to escape.

The linkens is a good idea becuz it also blocks a spell such as a stun or silence which may stop u from blinking away to safety.

No no no no no, Bashers are good. Its just once you have the twin Bashers you go straight for a Butterfly, then another one, then another one. Y'know. BUT, you still need the Bashers. Thats the point in all the attack speed, otherwise you could go for a Buriza or something.

Hood//(Vanguard hehe); Treads; Basher; Basher; Butterfly; Butterfly; then start removing non-essentials. Second Basher - Vlads or a third Butterfly. Etc.

i think you should learn blink at level 1.
and then max out spell shield and mana break after. you need to blink only once in early game because there are towers to hug. But you really need spell shield early as protection for early game nukers such as lina, zeus, lich etc..

Ever since i saw this guide i have been obsessed with am. I have played him everyday and each game is different. I lose and win around equal percentages. BUT i found a new build and i havent lost for the whole holidays of pure am. Your guide is not good/sux. i tested am and i figured out that the magical dmg did full to me when i had hood B4 i got my spell shield. also, GET VANGUARD !!! NOT HOOD

You can either get a vlads for lifesteal/a heart for some extra hp/ a buriza for more DPS. Choose whichever you think is appropriate at that time.

in lategame u can sell hood to buy tarraske amd make buriza

nice guide but I prefer using battle fury first for easy farming and get a hood AFTER you get atleast lvl 1 of spell shield so that the spell reduction stacks.

ok nice strat... but you forgot to mention that you should get hood first before getting the spell shield so that it would stack or add up.
and playing against good int players, you cant just gank them easily and sumtyms magina ends up dying instead. just for example, a good crystal maiden will never cast her frostbite on you first, she'll wait for you to blink in first then she'll bite you plus freezing field and if luckily your still alive, she still has the frost nova to slow you and by that time her frost bite is cool down already then frost bite again, so that's why its really important when to blink in and out. sometimes its advisable not to blink in first when ganking just rely on ur fast movement speed to enter a gank, i mwan i know magina can outrun any hero and in that way you still got your blink if anything bad happens and especially at early game when your blink still has a longer cooldown.
and why is there a pugna in the mana leakers it should have been the nerub assasin. and if you could get butterfly realier than bashers den u shud go for butter first. but still a nice guide... 8/10

everybody should know that you must get the hood before shield...And bashers are better first than butter IMO...

nice... it's good, you could also use a basher and a fury so that you have hp regen but you can still do damage

Vlads is generally necessary, it depends on the game. But not INSTEAD of the Hood. The thing with getting the Hood/coughVanguard is the spell resistance and tankiness. You sit there taking hit after hit after hit. Lifesteal is for pitched DPS fights which is later. Does is matter that you get 16% Lifesteal a hit... when you're only doing 80 a hit and you just got mowed by a stunlock and Laguna Blade?

a couple other things to mention:
Anub'arak is a GREAT teammate because of his mana burn

and also i usually get Vlad's because it has lifesteal without being an orb effect and I also grab Assault cuiraiss for extra attack speed and survivability

Those two items are VERY important to my general strategy

i still get treads and bashers and butterfly too, and i save the vlad's for later because it wont steal much health if i dont attack fast and deal lots of damage anways

BattleFury (enhance farming skill)
Vlad's (let's you stay and farm longer)
Cranium Basher
Butterfly (extra damage and IAS)
Cranium Basher
*Cuirass (replace 2nd Cranium Basher if the game has been dragged too long)

@ warlic24 = can't get Aegis at lvl7, CAN get Vanguard/HoD at lvl7. Or if not lvl7, easily applies to lvl10-11 or so - still can't get Aegis THEN.

@ viper_ecode = playing AM without an EARLY tanking item can probably be referred to as, whatsit, that thing starting with S, Techies does it... in my opinion anyway. Pers -> Fury might work well enough though.

2 bashers for magina is a must. 2 secs stun means 128 mana burnt. see??.. that's cool, they won't get away nor nuke you anymore coz they don't have mana left once you bashed them.. Plus mana void for the final touch!!

Far too late, the hacker got custom kicked due to the offenses becoming far too obvious; then his items got distributed and their Anti-Mage received a brand new Battle Fury. And then he went from about 4-10 to 18-10 in 20 minutes. So I'm not going to say Battle Fury sucks.

I think that instead of bashers, you can gradually work towards say, MKBs. These things have a higher chance to stun, even though it is 0.01 seconds. that o.01 second is enough to stop enemies in their tracks and their attacks wont get to you. it also gives better dmg and attack speed.

anyways, one time i played magina in an 1 on 1. My itembuild was powaer treads, two bashers and 3 hyperstones, and i rocked the house!

It is a good guide but since u have 40% spell resistance and + your spell resistance from the armor is 20% you don't need the Hood.What uneed is Vladimir's ofering.Imba for you and stacks with mana break

I get Battle Fury 1st then when it's mercy match, I use 2 Bashers 1st, then The Butterfly.. If playing seriously, I get The Butterfly 1st.. Thanks to this guide, the former noob is now OWNING! You're gonna need to put as much effort into future guides as into this one.
