Erm, but seriously, i dun think tt hod is practical. i would rather get meka for armour and healing purposes rather than depending the lifesteal for the healing. I say items are not bad for a 1v1. But 5v5 in a competent team, sorry to say this guide will not work the way you say it would be. Necrolyte is the ideal mekansm bearer and ward buyer for the Scourge. Buying wards delays all those power items, even HotD, by a lot.

Sadist is a crap ability cos Necro's atk animation is so horrible. He doesn't last-hit/deny well so it doesn't help him a lot in the mana dept. DP/Stats is better, and mana isn't a problem once void stone is in hand. I'm not bashing you, just i'm pointing out the badness of Sadist.

Conclusion: Yr guide is catered for pubs, for a potential 1v1 fight, and i'm always talking about team/leagues/etc. So i'm not qualified to judge your guide cos i do not use Necro that way. Peace.

i would include sheep stick in your main build as it nullifies a heros spell resistance. this way instead of having to wait for that 3k hp centaur to get down to 1350, you can kill him at about 1600 health (alittle under)

You've spelled out his strengths and weaknesses pretty well, justifications for the items, and tactics for various situations. More than many guides manage. Also synergies - very good, as well as setting them apart from other allies. One thing I will particularly stress, you've said 'disablers such as' and the others, instead of simply saying 'This guy this guy and don't even mention HER will ALL own you every time' or something similarly lame.
Whether this works or will replace what I normally get (what I normally get is a low score or supremely fed o0), I don't know, but its a good, well-thought out and explained guide and is getting 10/10 from me. Good work.

Note to all, Dagon is only efficient if you manage to rush it (based on this, probably before HoD or immediately after), otherwise the extra 400 damage is shrugged off by late-gamers. Dagon 5, incredibly expensive, but if you can use it as your first item it works pretty well because of the synergy with Reaper Scythe.

Battle Nercro or not Threads is still a bad item on him, He needs to chase in order to kill and threads doesn't give you enough ms to do that.

Lifesteal doesn't help in your survivability by much since you have low damage, Mekasm is a much better idea for survivability and armor even in 1 vs 1.

Blink is also a good item t help you catch kills and escape death.

Oh, Refresher is horrible don't bother.

Saddist isn't as horrible as Capsain said it is though, even if Nercro is horrible at last hitting due to his attack animation it's not impossible to last hit. You'll still be redeeming mana, even more than what stats can provide and it indirectly lowers the mana cost of death pulse since you'll usually score a creep kill or 2 when you cast it.

Nice strategy for a 1v1 game. But if you look at 5v5 then i would like to differ. i would prefer Meck to HoD and go for Skadi as its a gr8 boost for his stats. i would also have my Aganhim's in place.

Overall a good atartegy!!! Well developed and good Hero Killing ability as u mentioned. I would rate it 7/10.

Rgding Sadist:

If you want you can take Sadist at the time when pushes start to occur, so that plus void stone you can be compensated for casting DP to kill creeps. Otherwise early game it's uselsss. You don't spam DP, one DP is not strong enough to kill creeps, and you don't wanna push creeps too far. All these is enough to tell you Sadist shouldn't be taken so early.

The same thing for Diffusion. Stats 1st, and when you have exhausted all stat pts, then take Diffusion. Diffusion AoE is so small that Necro has to be at the frontlines for it to take effect, and that's bad for such a low hp support. Again i'm talking about team, if it's 1v1 i've no comments.

@everyone (almost at least): why in the hells would you want screenshots for a hero like Necro? I mean, I understand for someone like Pudge or Mirana, but Necro doesn't have to aim his abilities, it's just click, point, die....

Few comments:

Generally when I play Rotund'jere I don't take the initial Reaper Scythe at level 6. The reason is, Its 200 mana compared to Death Pulse's 185 and yields only 0.40 damage per HP lost, so chances are at level 6 your Death Pulse will be doing more damage OR at least very close to under all circumstances (few exceptions). That and its situational, it does 0 damage if the enemy is at full health... So by going DP/Sadist levels 1-8, you maximize farming capabilities at level 8. I also love to get sadist early because if your a great last hitter/denier, you have a crazy amount of mana regen.

You really should add radiance as an optional item, I love radiance on Rotund'jere, and I see it alot. Radiance's 35 dps aura + death pulse = you kill entire creep waves every single time. Rotund'jere is also a chaser, so while running along side enemies casting DP you are also getting that 35 dps. Its a great item for rotund'jere. And since hes a farming master at level 8, you can rush radiance pretty easily. In a team push, radiance helps get creep kills while you focus on enemy heroes as well... Creep kills = mana (sadist) = money.

I agree that the key items for rotund'jere are soul booster and skadi though, with those items you become an HP sponge that has great AOE damage/heals, a HUGE mana pool, and a finisher that gains power over the course of the game. Mekanism is also a great item for Rotund'jere, helps with his armor and hes got the mana to use it. Not sure about scepter on Rotund'jere though, the difference between 0.9 and 1.1 really isn't that much, there was a post about it on dota-allstars.com You pay quite a bit of money for a very very small difference. Consider bloodstone as an alternate item, the regen boost doesn't hurt, and its not hard to get a kill with rotund'jere =].

One other thing to note is that by not using Reaper Scythe you cause fear in your enemies. If they know you have it ready to cast, they won't go near your push with anything less than 50% hp, so it causes enemies to flee much earlier. Alot of times I won't even use reaper scythe, as its costly in mana as well, mana that can be used to spam DP on allies to heal.

Well the guide is great for your first, and your item build is surprising to say the least. i think your trying to turn nercrolyte in to something his not. you should be played as more of a support hero than killer. i would get a meke inseatd of HoD, plus maybe a couple of bracers to be more survival...

Good but I'm not sure about HoD and Skadi.

I think this guide is a little wierd since it uses a HoD but I guess i do see his point... Usually, other Int Heroes carry the Mekansm for support and this could be a reason for not using Mekansm since multiple ones don't stack. Also, HoD IS an orb effect but since Necro is ranged, Skadi will still work...

Good guide overall, needs a little work and a little more explanations on some parts but this is ok as long as you like fighting 1v1.... 8/10

HoD is a strong earlier item, meka too.. The different is HoD good for battle build and not bad for regain hp, however meka is a pure n superb healing n pushing build..
I love both, it actually just depend what u like or what u aim for Necrolyte n ur team..
PT is not my piece of cake, BoT is better for him.. BoT offer u more movement speed n teleport.. It expensive but do worth it at mid n late game...

In case of attackspeed, u may need find another item for him, PT is a waste especially most of the heroes now have high movement speed

I think it would be best if you go with boots of travel rather than treads. He's a good pusher too with his deathpulse.

How about buying bloodstone it makes you get more hp and mana regen + it makes ur death time reduced and exp vision that makes u level when ur in death if theres a hero or creeps dying in ur exp vison after you use bloodstone then dissensemble the blood stone to ahganims and linkin sphere its good to have linken to save u from some disabling and damge dealing skills

unlike the other posters, i dont agree with your item build (for a team necro. i am not interested in 1v1)

dominator- like what the others said, getting this item for the lifesteal and armor is not worth it. mekansm is a much better item since it is an instant aoe heal, unlike a heal per hit dominator provides. also, it gives armor that lasts long enough to protect you in team battles.

aghanims - i dont think the damage increase is better than the hex guinsoo gives. like what you've said, RS is affected by magic resistance so at level3, it will kill heroes with 39% remaining hp, while with scepter, it will kill heroes with 46% remaining hp- a 7% difference. so if an enemy hero has 3000 hp, its only 210hp difference (you can kill them at 1170hp without scepter, 1380 with scepter). if you want to increase your damage, i think a dagon will be soo much better(damage per gold ratio)

treads - DP is spammable, necrolyte has crap damage and attack speed(so the atk sped from treads wont really matter), you need a much bigger ms to catch up, you need tele necrolyte is a good pusher/defender.

also, you dont need arcane ring, refresher will drain all your mana, a heart provides better survivability than cuirass, and because you are a great farmer but is not item dependent, you dont get a gem, you fill the map with wards instead.

also, against noobs, radiance is good. radiance + DP = gold for virtually 0 mana.

in conclusion/summary, i think mek/guinsoo/heart/BoT/wards is the way to go for necrolyte.

hey ur guide is pretty good , ur bad luck is there are a lot noobz that have commented stupidly about this guide, I was mostly interested in the item build cuz the rest comes with the skill of the player, so: I'm surprized u didn't put dager... not even on the optional item list, an actual serious mistake is not putting boots of travel on the items list, u don;t need treads, this hero needs to run free fast and tp alot to help push and defend in the same time, he is not a damage dealer so treads is useless(well u can make him 1 but there is no point in doing that cuz simply Necrolyte was not made to be a damage dealer), skady is ok enhanching everything so is aganim, but then dominator has nothing to do with this hero, a HOT or at least a river is more usefull and u desperately need guinsoo. But then again it's ur build so It's ur opinion. The part about efectivly using the hero was better written, but I can recomand using Ultimate (RS) even when the oponent hero doesen't have low hp, I mean If the oponent is running away and u think that the RS 1 sec stun can help the team cover ground enough to cach him with a more consistent disable and eventually kill the oponent... DO IT! no remorse this hero farms well enough all through the game, u won't cry for a stupid frag... better to help the team ,

With his low attack speed and damage lifesteal is almost worthless. Its a waste of money. I tried playin that and it sucked... Kept on getting ganked and i heal very slowly with it. Replace it with dagon then it would be better. He can kill any hero with a sceptar, refresher, dagon 5. Dagon, ulty, refresher, dagon ulty.(800+ 880+ 1680+ 1848= DEADLY!)
Sheep stick is good too. (reason: enemys have no magic resistance when they are sheeped.)

to all the people bashing this guy because THEY play this guy as a support hero go make your own guide saying how you use him and leave this guy alone. He does say in his guide that the item build/strategy ect is to be used so that he is a good hero killer and the way he has it set up it will work very effectively and by being a good hero killer in his own right necro is thus supporting his team (duh). The eye of skadi will stack with HoD because it is not an orb effect and HoD is good for lifesteal armor and to be upgraded to Satanic which gives armor massive health and more lifesteal which combined with health from skadi and aghanims sceptre would make this guy the ultimate tank and hero killer which is very rare for an int hero (he will easily have about 2400-2600 health at lvl 25 and the armor from satanic/HoD)and because that is the way nazarite has said he will play him his guide is probly a lot better than ne thing you people would make in terms of hero killing. Good work mate 10/10.

I think this strategy lacks depth. I usually get boots, perserverance, point booster and then make dagon. Dagon is the best zap to combo with scythe. This makes necro deadly. If you can try making refresher after aghanims. My best combo so far is sheep stick hex, pulse, dagon, scythe, refresh, sheep stick hex, dagon, scythe. I killed a 4000 hp pudge with this.

Satanic with necro? lol? that would be the most wasted 6150gold ever rofl. He has low base attack so he wont heal himself a lot. His main atribute is int NOT STR. if u want him to get HP u got plenty from scepter. and im sure that u can find better ways to use 6150gold than on satanic...

Just thought I'd add my $.02...

First off I don't think HotD is a great item for Nec. It doesn't synergize with his strengths at all. If you are going to advocate the use of HotD you should describe ways to utilize the item more efficiently though. For instance you should explain that with HotD you can grab centaurs and furlbogs out in the woods. My main problem with this guide is there is no way for you to escape a dangerous encounter, however a stomping creep with 1000 hp will help you. Not to mention the more disables the better.

Second this guide is here to help you hero kill in 1v1 situations. Now I'm not going to say that Dagon is the greatest item out there but... If you are playing a 1v1 match and get dagon as your first item you will own with Dagon then Reapers Scythe. Honestly in 1v1 this imo is Necrolytes strongest combo.

I really only play 5v5 so team battles are a huge focus in that respect so when I play Nec (which really isn't often) I start with a couple branches and a RoR. Then proceed to build Eul's. Finish Mekansm. At this point it is early mid game and you bring alot more to team battles/pushes. You have 2 heals one for 250 and the other for 150 i believe. You also have a cyclone to kill off enemy straglers or sending their biggest threaght into the sky while you fight. Euls also can be useful for escaping ganks. At this point I would grab what is most useful. Refresher, finish Guinsui, Necrimonicon, Aghanim's Scepter. It honestly depends on how your team is doing.

Basically I normally play Necrolyte as a team support hero, not so much as a hero killer. I havn't played this build before, it is innovative but not extremely practical imho.

The dmg makes full usage of the lifesteal.

you have this all wrong go for crits first, hs long range and relatively fast attack speed... you get lotsa creep kills, so... because of sadist you have no mana worries. and his long range lets you work them down, and if it comes to a battle you can death pulse for life and damage... believe me try just hard damage with him, play it as a melee hero.

I assume that you're going for a battle build Necrolyte. The For me, HotD will not fit Necrolyte for survivability. If you want more health, i suggest Meka, which have more benefits compared to HoD. Still, you dare to be different, and I truly respect that. However, i can't rate this guide yet since i've not tested it.

i randomed Rotund'jere today in a 3v3 arem game.
i read this strat once and decided to try it out, since i find your reasons why to use it really good.

anyways, my team mate declared me a noob after i bought the Mask of Death (to all, not just the team) without even listening to my reasons.
then he asked me to share my chiken "if i knew how to" (omfg)
im not a bad guy, so i did it.

after finishing my HotD (while i was in town) HE ACTUALY SOLD MY HotD!!!!! OMFG yes he f*cking sold my items because he thought it was bad for me! the frikkin' noob.

well, i was SOOO pissed i forgot to write his name down before leaving (not without explaining why tho)

Helm of dominator is a risky item, but mainly the only reason why I don't like it is because it implies you'll be autoattacking when you should be trying to farm.

Listen, get a solo lane or Deny creeps, if your good. You will have about a Sacred Relic in 20ish minutes. You should already got a few hero kills. By 30 min, you will have a radiance, yhou should get it sooner. After that is just hero killing..Then get whatever you want.

Of all the heroes I've been playing with for so loooong, RotundJere would be my favorite. I have tinkered ALOT with him and sad to say, your guide just made him weaker by getting him items that he really doesn't need.

Why bother getting an HoD on a hero that already can heal himself? Also, you don't have to get Sadist. Why? Simple. Get stats and a void stone to end your mana problems. Of course, you still can't spam DP at low levels, but once you turn that stone into Eul's, you'll have basically unlimited mana. You need stats for ASpd, health, mana + damage. Eul's will help you get out of sticky situations too. Then farm some more, and get a sheep stick.

As for the his boots, it's OK to get treads at first, since the IASpd will help you in hero killing and farming. With the sheep stick (and a good ally if you're about to pawn a hero with HI hp), all you have to do is Hex, run up next to him, cast DP, whack him twice, then reaper. If he's not dead by then, the 1 second stun should help you catch up to him, and pull off another DP. Or, get an ally to help you out.

Also, why bother getting agha & skadi (10k+ total gold)? I'm not saying that it's useless on him, I just think that wasting all that money to improve your ulti by .2 and a pathetic slow ain't worth it. I would rather get a desolator (-6 armor) since this would help your team alot on killing those tanks! Hex(!) + (-6) armor, + your allies could easily bring down the toughest of tanks to less than half their HP. Less than half HP heroes = dead to you.

Also, a dagger would be a nice; you don't want those -50%HP heroes running away from your Scythe.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Why not Dagon? For it's HIGH damage and LOW cooldown, it could be very useful for Rotund'jere. You could DP, dagon, then RS, or DP and just dagon (being helped by allies)...................................

guides pretty cool but pretty lame.........max out death pulse and sadist within level 7 and its gold time..when the creep comes try a death pulse....and after 5 sec try again....u will get all the creeps and mana due to sadist......free gold..

Nice strategy. But I wouldnt get HoD. My build: Mekansm -> sheep stick -> mystic staff. Agree that dagon is optional item sometimes it make u kill faster, dagon then ulti combined. Eye of Shadi is a good choice for late game and dont for get Assault Cruiass.

Shit. You said, he is vulnerable because of his low armor? YOU SHOULD SAY, because of HIS LOW HP POOL! And almost 2k of gold only for some armor and lifesteal????? Cmon, He is not a DPS Hero at all! Lifesteal can't do much for him. Some bracer, or booster, or mekans will do. And Mekans is much more useful in team battles. Eul early is almost a must. He has no escape mechanism.

You said, point 1, treads, HotD, and ironwoodbranch. You should show us his HP too in the screenshot!
Having a bit higher armor but with low hp is very very useless!
Also treads early game for him is not beneficial. 1k to change the boots to tread. It's better to buy voidstone, or staff, or 2 bracers.

Again, this build Sucks!

Nice when i play necro i usually solo, go good early and early mid game but i get my ass whooped late game cus of the life thing so ty for the info

My first hero was Rotund'jere.And now my most powerful hero.The item bulid is correct but if you can buy a refresher orb to latest item cuz there are no hero who stand up after two RS:).(sorry my englsih but i'm hungarian)

i thought this guide was very helpful but i would def. get mek over HoD.

ive also found that since i have a hard time getting last hits on creep i have a hard time regenerating mana... but i solved this problem by simply buying a sobi mask at beg. of game.

Mortred is easy to counter as your guide clearly is a great start to owning with Rotun. Rooftrellen isn't to much of a problem aswell. The only opponent I had any trouble with was sniper because of his huge range. He could harass me with ease and I would have to wait till he ran up to get a chance to use DP. But overall, a fun suppourt/push hero to play with but even when fed, won't stand up to better players.

u didn't include a dagger a you only escape/chase mechanism...u'll never know if the enemy target you first since ur a HELL of a problem to them....

lol @ all the noobs on this thread the item build sucks balls.hex is a MUST and is a perfect build esp as you can get euls very quickly if your able to last hit. once you have euls you can really start battling hard because its a perfect escape tool.HoD is a very silly idea unless late game and your looking to get satanic.. i only say this is a good idea if you've got high damage items.
deso is a good idea, i havent actually tried that from a normal build.. usually only if late game leaver drops it haha. hex and AS are good for your ulti..

I like your guide. Very helpful. Only odd things is your refresher orb and Balanr being a perma basher. Balanar isn't exactly a perma basher. He just... owns. I'll definitely say doombringer's one of your worst enemies too. And btw, there...shouldn't be a need for a double RS. You just use RS whenever half a hero's life is gone. That easy...

his ulti takes away 40% of their max hp, and necro's takes away the remaining 45%.

so basically:

huskar ult
death pulse
necro ult

since it's a percentage, you'll be killing centaur almost as easily as zeus.

Good strat. But I absolutely hate necrolyte. I find him probably one of the weakest heroes in the game next to medusa

dont get the skill sadist its not woth-it its better of if u get stats. dont buy dagon coz guinsoo is much beter for damage and much usefull.

nazarite, i see wot u r trying 2 do with this build, like satanic 2 stay in lanes and aghnims 2 boost ur ulti, but i think its all far 2 late game for necrolyte. Necrolyte is a hero who can shine early and mid game (believe it or not) with certain items. I usually get him a vanguard which stacks BEAUTIFULLY with DA (u literally take NO dmg from creeps and low dmg meele heroes). If there are int heroes i also go for HoD (like i think u said) which by now, is insane regen stacked with vanguard-

why go for extra hp regen (helm of denominator). Skadi is WAY 2 expensive, and BoT work way better coz u then dont need slow from Skadi and can now play much better as a support hero due 2 teleport (seeing as though necrolyte is a support hero) Basically, try vanguard and Hood, so u play a more early 2 mid game which allows naturally 4 a good late game item build. my skill choices are slightly different, but urs are good. otherwise, good strat, necrolyte FTW!

The ultimate is sick, can take out CW.....

Don't agree with helm of dominator/skadi as necrolyte was never created for battle mode and will never be. His attack speed is too slow and base attack damage is too low

BY the way, when i say HoD, i mean hood of defiance not helm of dominator (ie, dont get helm, get hood).

This is the first actual strategy in this whole site that didn't have bothersome and distinct typos and grammatical errors.

I got Godlike following this strategy. Very Nice...

I go allways for aghemis first, then BoT. After that i buy dagon and start upgrading it and buying refresher.
And then u dont need nothing else.
Also i use to buy (if game steel going on?!) frost armor.

If i got good teammets, u will win 100%, and have around 15-3 in stats?

why not necrnominion? it is a great item... you can use it for hero killing like 1 uses mana burn and the other hits, while you dp, then rs... but anyway, nice guide ^^
