nice strat, youll have to end the game by level 13-14 since Lion is not very strong at late game. Beware of Purist, his antimagic shield can ruin your entire strat.

soul booster is fine.. why go for aghanin's if you won't benefit from it? why not buy another soul booster with the money you have? you can go straight in purchasing items like eul's or guinsoo for spamming spells.. and i don't think you'll need a refresher orb anymore because Lion's Finger of Death has a pretty decent cool down for an ulti which damages high..

Your better off getting some lothars egde for escaping battles and you should really get Necro Book and you'll need mana drain at that start not the end...

for me i max out impale2 and mana drain first.... voodoo is useless in early game...... and for me aghanism scepter soulbooster , guinsoo and dagon5 or dagon 1 and boots of travel

nice strat but why not get mana drain? what if your enemy is an int hero because sometimes int heroes are strong only if they have lots of mana to cast a powerful spell sometimes mana drain is not for regen mana it is for weakening the hero by draining mana to not cast powerful spells

Not a good strat for me... Especially for team game.. For team game, guinsoo is always first to get the double hex which is great.. And why oh why would u get the scepter.. The scepter is just as useless for lion as for lina.. 850 is more than enough and there is no point wasting 2900 gold for a stupid 200 extra damage (150 after magic reduction).. Its just plain useless.. I always get guinsoo and 2 bracers and if the game goes on very long, get soul booster/ aegis/ heart to boost your hp.. Guinsoo is enough to make a combo late game..

And one more thing, Mana drain is one of the most important early game.. Melee creeps WON'T attack you while u are draining the ranged creep.. Its a 200 mana boost which is awesome.. Hex is just useless early game as u already have stun to cancel channeling spell..

uhh i think its kinda weird u go straight from basi to dagon. pick up maybe some treads and nulls, maybe not so quick to go instant dagon

why not get mana drain....INT players will be pissed if they don't have mana to pull of there combos...
such as ZEUS...if u use mana drain on him he wouldn't be able to use his Lightning attacks plus ur safe from his Wrath

I think the mana drain is a very good and very usable in the game because you dont want a mana regen items and you can buy the intelligence items with the money this.

Nice strat actually. I get voodoo atleast level 1 or 2 early game. This could ave your life when being ganked or when someone's going to kill you. can be a life saver.

The stuff in your conclusion should be explained throughout the strat... ANd the item build, be it a "pubbie" build is nout enough... You need more survivability in a real game... And you need to seperate sections... And you say stuff like "Hex and let your allies do the rest"... Did DotA become popular becaus people like to "hex and let their allies do the rest? And your attack section is lagging... Think thats bad? well, the rest is MISSING... The only impressive thing is the mana calculation... But that too you left to US to correct...

to upgrade dagon you just buy the components to get dagon lv 1, then buy the recipe scroll over and over again. And i like to get mana drain as well because you impale, then mana drain, mana drain has such a long range :D. and they're both a spell so the creeps wont agro to you.

I think you should get mana drain for draining the mana of heroes that have low mana and use impale on creeps then drain the neromancer and do it continouously

it gives 3000 damage in around 4 Seconds more over a.scepter increases damage and gives moremana for refresher orb

harrasing isn't just about taking health if u keep stealing an agilityor int heroes mana they can do practically nothing to u early game so u only have to worry about strength heroes in which case u just hex and run away. I tried playing lion with only getting voodoo and mana drain early game and i owned. didn't need impale till like level 20. And as you are a disabler once you get your guinsoo's, aghanims and whatever you should be focusing on getting as much damage done as possible as fast as possible before they can run away so items like carapace, mkb adn buriza would be better. Also your combo is good enuf but even though you say that lion doesn't have enuf mana to use it with ur item build he will have like 45 mana regen a second adn the combom isn't instantaneous so by thte time u get to the last finger you would have regenerated about 250 or so mana so thats plenty. overall the guide wasn't really appropriate for high level playing as once you have killed one hero with combo ur completely vulnerable but as it was designed for pubs good work.

why wouldnt you get mana drain? you can get an easy 200 mana just from using it on the ranged creeps.
lion was made to have aghanims. deals about 1000 damage on level three which is good in late game as well

Mana drain was useful skill in early game for harrassing your enemy. Use twice then their ready do death. Dont forget BoT because this hero very slow MS

Yes,can attack critter,it can do lot of damage,no armor resistance,i buy dagon,boots,blink,agham,guinsoo,refresher..In order.. Early game i try to kill hero that dangerous for late game..So i buy blink to suprise them early n mid game..Use guinso n vodoo for anti mage,he will cry,nyeyeye

i usally get impale and mana drain maxed out, and what i do to harrass is impale and then mana drain


it really helps harrassing specailly if the opponent is melee

Getting Voodoo early game is a waste.
If you use it,your mana drains quickly.
If you don't use it, it's a waste.
Maxing out Impale and getting stats in intervals allows you to spam Inpale very often.
Voodoo is just a diable, so in won't be so useful early game.One point of Voodoo is enough in case there is a hero with chenneling spell.

vodoo also stops some bitchy channel spells like rhastas mass serpent ward but otherwise it doesnt help much early game. But im usually pretty nice soz 10/10!

I would much prefer to go Sceptre and Refresher orb. you would get two sets of voodoo which would be like a Guinsoo and also the rest of the spells like finger of death. making an aghanims would also give you more life and enough mana to refresh and use spells again!!

Early game Lion's HP is very very small, and without any stats and recovery items, he can be nuked easily. Also, if you rush to get Dagon, he is still very very vulnerable. Imagine if the first time you get to the line, you face Clinkz, you won't stand a long time in the line. I'm sure of that.

i think mana drain is also important. u may use it on a ranged creep if there is no hero around. instead of going back to your base or waiting for your mana to regenerate. just use it wisely.. it's useless though in mid to late games.

eye of scadi, hyperstone, perseverance. I think thees are the nicest items for him, his hitpoints will be hight, and his mana to, and the mana regn is high, the hyperstone can help when u let voodoo on a enemy, so you can hit and hit and hit often, an with eye of scadi the damage is nice too

I agree with alcolitoz, but at lv. 20 I was godlike against my friends. NO KILLSTEALING. I was lucky. Mainly because my friends were foolish and kept battling with red life. (heh, heh.)

I've played lion before and i disagree with people who use refresher orb. If you're picking lion against a team of str. heroes, which u really shouldn't, go ahead and get the refresher just to TRY to kill them. It's a waste of money. All of his cds are short. Towards end game, i can spam his ult once every min.
Go get a desolator if u got tht much money. Helps the team out better and gives u good damage.

2. aghnams(for his hp n making his skills spammable early on n increasing his ulti which is very strong early game),
3. dagon(only lvl 1),
4. guinsoo,
5. hot,(game's over by then)
therefore my end items r:
bot,aghanams,dagon,guinsoo,hot.

getting mana drain or not depends on who u r laning with. If melee heroes, then get it, but not for ranged heroes. getting vodoo early could help you kill since when you vodoo, opponent's armor and magic resistence all go away and your finger deals massive damage.

i find mana drain to be a very useful skill drains 150 mana at lvl 2 with a 20 sec cooldown. allows you to spam impale. saves cash since no potions. harasses enemies. impale then drain. they cant touch you.

ummm i think that with a dagon lvl 5 and a freshor lion is unbeatable:
Impale, Dagon, FoD - Refresh - Impale, Dagon, FoD = ownage

i bought 1 bracer for health and depending on mana drain, i can spam impale in early game. to those who dunt believe me, go try it!

u dont need mana drain for lion... vodoo is more useful.. u dont need to spam imapale... if u want a real kill, play with ur team mates... lion is my favorit hero coz hes poerful in early and mid games.. hes also great in late games for he is a great disabler... hes a team hero as well as a solo hero... just buy null talisman at the beginning and u will not need mana drain in this early period.. just use ur mana wisely

Mana drain is 20/40/60/100 now. It great against WWers and Blinkers and allows very good harrass.

Don't need get voodoo too soon, not enough mana at early game (use all mana for impale is better). I often build skill like that:
Impale: lv 1-3-5-7 (max soon)
lv2:mana drain
lv4: stat or mana drain (only get 1 to 2 lv mana drain)
voodoo after level 7

Build item:
- Bracer
- Vanguard
- Eul's scepter
- Boot of traveler
- Agha's screpter

Sorry Mate but I totally disagee with getting voodoo instead of mana drain. Because if you get mana drain you can keep impaling them over and over. Plus I'm sure his drain is 20,40,60,80 unless you have the old version!

I'm sorry mate, but i think mana drain lvl 2 is much better than voodo.
it regens our mana pool almost to full and helps you to cast impale once time and once more time etc.
and i think dagon isn't good enough , to much gold for 400 dmg i think lion who have 2 disamblers must have a suport item like assault so you can hit more times and get beneficts from the impale and voodo.In second place your team mates will adore you.
