I think you can use meld in early game you know just in case that someone will try to kill, you can hide using meld isn't it?? And your build item is the one that I have done but I don't skadi that time when I play lanaya instead, I use 2 desolator so I'm wrong, thatmeans I should only use 1 desolator so thanks for the guide! Its fascinating but at least you can put meld at level 2 or 3 for hiding and for killing too. Nice guide!

Very nice guide. I haven't managed to play Lanaya very well yet, but this guide looks like something I would try.

One of the things with Lanaya is that its very hard to choose which skills to get:
Meld - only works with Psi Blades, therefore:
Meld + Psi Blades
But wait? You HAVE to have Refraction! So then its Meld + Refraction, since the invisibility skill is better than getting semi-splash.
But wait again? Meld is useless without Psi Blades! So NOW its Refraction Psi Blades.

And thats not even counting the Psionic Traps. Which, personally, I think you've done well with by moving them to last-learned seeing as you desperately need the synergy as soon as possible.

What I noticed about your item builds, despite having so many different ones, is that theres no suggestion to get Lifesteal. What if you're fighting a pack of huge, gigantic DPS heroes like Mortred Clinkz and Bloodseeker or something? Go figure...

And your allies and enemies section is sort of... generalized. Like, Zeus to finish off fleeing targets, Echo Slam hurts all the time, things like that...
What I mean is you should have more things like, synergies with your abilities. The key thing that Lanaya does that nobody else really does is the Traps. So find someone who would HUGELY benefit from an enemy or enemies being slowed like that. Say... Ursa? Chow down on them while they can't go anywhere? Things like that would be better.
And as for enemies... Refraction, in my experience, totally owns Slayer. But Leshrac? He has lots and lots of TINY bits of damage that will overrun Refraction. So you can't counter HIM with Refraction while several other nukers will be repelled. I know you said Leshrac but you also put in Slayer, and Leshrac is vastly more dangerous in this area.

Oh my god this is a huge comment and my fingers hurt... its a guide for a new hero, and also your first guide, and its quite good. Details, different scenarios... but mind the points I said. I think 9/10 for now but I won't vote that since I think you could modify this a bit. Potential 10/10.

She's a ranged hero... Skadi is not an orb effect when it comes to ranged heroes... Why not try this dream build: remember: TRY..! only..
Treads(u need atk spd as much as ms)
Skadi(throw ur vanguard and take a skadi)
Desolator(skadi + deso = beyond godlike..!)
Assault Cuirass(-armor + atkspd = oWNiNG..!)
Radiance(damage ROCKS..!; and finally..)
Butterfly(atkspd + damage + evasion = the has WON..!

Nice guide , but meld is sometimes an escape option, when you're ambushed just meld and wait for help

You can add MoM on the build with crystalys, the build is slow i'd rather go Level 1 refract and meld early on for hero kills.

I also suggest getting a perseverance then linkens if you have a lot of enemy nukers.. this will help you a lot! refract and linkens own nukers... make sure to time it correctly!

I would also suggest to get a bracer and a wraith instead of 2 wraith bands... this helps early game!

yeah, at least you should get lvl 1 meld early game for safety and her ultimate at lvl 6 for support and escaping and also for countering enemy escapes... and I think you should simplify your items, which is which? thats all..

I think ur strategy will be rated as 10... 10/100... Why? Because your items are really that expensive... The fact that not at all times can you easily gain a lot of money... And because she is an agi hero, there is a big possibility that she will killed a lot of times and cannot save for ur items...

Good guide, you explain why you do the things you do, I use this strategy when I play Lanaya too, and I can say that it works...
However, the item build, is a little TOO expensive...
The only way to achieve such a godlike inventory, is by getting leaver's money, or by playing in small games (or of course, by owning the crap out of every noob that gets in your way, but that's not everyday is it?)...
Your allies and enemies section is a bit too general though, you say why those heroes are scary/helpful, but you don't say why those heroes are scary/helpful to LANAYA....
Anyway, it's a good guide, but you may want to make some changes...
8/10 (for now, still not completely decided)

some questions:
1. will the armor reductions from two melds stack?
2. why double meld a single hero when you can meld two heroes? that way your team's other dps can quickly finish one hero while you deal with the other.

3. you said this in your early game strat: "i'd say you push until you reach 3,000 gold, then run back". why would you or anybody want to do that? pushing makes you go deeper into the enemies' territory, hence more prone to gank.

4. i dont understand the logic in this sentence: "pick a lane and push up to the point where you know your opponent will retreat in your direction. In advance, use Meld to render yourself invisible." you are pushing yet your enemies will retreat?

5.why not get traps at level 6? its your free ward. it lets you see and escape ganks, and provide a slow even if you are not really participating in ganks. also usually only one or two is needed in ganks, the rest will be used to ward the map.

6. oh, nevermind number 5. i just read your comment on traps: "As far as ultimates go, this isn't what I expected from the Templar Assassin. This skill goes pretty far in terms of ganking, and support. I placed this after everything else, because you won't really be using this too much." Clearly, you dont now anything about map control and its benefits in ganking and surviving.

6. it would be nice if you can explain the skill's mechanics. like the 'aoe' of psi blades(how wide does the back of your target go? will the sides get affected?)

7. DoT spells (damage over time) is one of lanaya's nightmares but you did not include it in the worst enemies section. refraction blocks 6 damage, regardless of the source. hence it will be used up very quickly get wasted if you are hit by shadowstrike, scorched earth, radiance.

8. "You can set Psionic traps in all of your lanes, then using your BoT to get there and gank!" If I remember it correctly, teleporting to traps is a bug and has been fixed.

I think getting traps at 6 is at your advantage....It can give you kills you dont even need to Set it in there escape paths Just click C and Tap T to slow repeating and reapeatable process....


I use Lanaya she is my most favorite hero I took out centaur and doom at health...because of her skills


Rushing Buriza is bad....getting Wraiths is bad she is fragile Get 2 bracers to solve health problems



There are two builds i suggest


1.Slowing Build

Skadi-hard to farm but worth it
Bot-Push and defending
HOT-to Be the ultimate tank of the team
Radiance- a good alternative but....id get that later
Buriza-For the crits

Getting buriza early is not worth it cuz you dont have that good IAS

2nd build

1.SNY-incase you cant farm skadi
2.Tarasque-Ultimate tanker
3.Radiance-Another good build
4.Buriza-yeah i know.
5.Bfly-Optional

Again Why SNY and tarasque first For health Getting SNY first....means farming faster i usually kill a creep wave in 3 hits or so... plus with the Added IAS you maim faster unlike other heroes

3rd build is a deso build


1.Deso-Does not stack with meld but... getting deso first and stopping at lvl3 meld will stack

2.Tarasque

3.Radiance

4.Butterfly

Worst enemies here are AOE heroes you got Raigor Lina Leshrac there Zeus is not a problem i usually escape him at some time..

And you also forgot Some ENDPOINT hitting heroes meaning Pudge or Mirana...they still can hit you ..lol

About traps you are correct scattering them on the map.... since your allies can Tele to them...

you dont necessarily Need to Plant a trap...at entrances or exits....

TRAPS HAVE 2000 Range!!! You can repeat this everytime..... you can trap and slow him all day and get a kill.

Deso and skadi dont stack because you cant launch 2 negative buffs in one attack. Armor reduction is a buff cause it last for a duration of time.(same as skadi)

deso stacks with meld. however there's a bug with deso and level 4 meld. i dont know if they fixed it already.

...i think that psi blades must go first before refraction...and at early game i think refraction is enough to defend lanayauntil he reach the certain level which she can use meld..magandang item dito ung kiras! bakit wla jan ?...and when i play lanaya i can dominate all phases of the game ..she's not that fragile in the early game

You forgot these things:

-Meld can serve as a semi-escape skill in early game, or can be used to regen urself if u have a flask.
-Psionic Traps are MAPHACKERS lol. Get at least 1 level of it at level 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 or 10.

I would have to agree with everyone and say that this build is nearly impossible to acheive. You could never farm that much and the only possible way to attain all that is if you get a lot of leaver items.

ur strat works but i like to go treads, deso,butterfly,then i get buriza,and my skill build is meld,blades,refraction,meld,meld,blades,blades,meld,blades,blades,refraction,refraction,refraction,traps,traps,traps, then rest stats cuz u dont need traps early cuz ur meld does so much dmg and i use refraction early game just to charge the tower with when they run, but overall nice strat

well i did not rad the strat actually, but want to comment on the item build (since my strat fro lanya did not get posted months ago for whatever reason). I agree wit the skill build totlay, but the items...

although i would recomend crystalys to any non int hero, the desolator works sooooooo good with meld and i try to get it asap. I dunno weather 2 meld will stack, if they do that would be a potential od -22armor... I also almost always favor the treadsfor any hero, despite what anyone says about the BoT. So i say, vanguard, treads, desolator and assault c. that is my build and it works excelent, tried it many, many many times.

i believe this skill build is quite difficult to reach for n00bs like me, but anyway this is great! 9/10

i think lanaya is a hero which is only for dota professionals, since her ultimate needs you to move, click and use hotkeys as quick as possible. why don't you take her ultimate at least once when you reach lvl 6?
if you do this, you can spam your psionic traps all the way to your tower, and activate them one by one when enemy creeps and hero come... they'll come slower, slower and slower to reach your tower. maybe they won't even reach it because they're stuck at your creepwaves. think about it man, her ultimate is great! this is amazing, trust me, she is super annoying with her ultimate skill!!!

Actually, this build is not so hard to use....
The only real problem is recognizing the right time to cast refraction....
Most players underestimate this skill, and will try to outlast you in a hand to hand combat....Which early, is exactly what you need to get First Blood or at least a kill..
And about the trap thing, just place the traps BEFORE you are chasing the guy on the places he'll most likely go to, and then you just have to tap T at the time he is above (or around) one of the mines....
However, one thing that IS hard, is reaching the item build...

Oh almost forgot, to maximize the effect of Psi Blades, try to attack the creeps from the side.... Psi Blades is not splash damage, it damages on a straight line behind the unit you're attacking....
It's also good to harass but you have to practice a lot (I still have trouble XD)

Power Threads(ms and aspd for better farming)
Desolator(-6 armor and damage)
Butterfly(evasion & armor & damage)
Buriza do Kyanon( CRIT!! OUCH!)
Assault Cuirass(-5 armor+ attack speed)
HoT/ Vanguard( for HP BOOST)

this build is a fast killer -19 armor + crits! ouch!

I test a fight with brad warden that has 2 HOT and 1 sange and yasha...

after 1 meld and the 3 hits from the refraction, he's already dead...

while bradwarden can't even damage lanaya..

also try in a line of creeps, hit the 1st one and they will all die in just one hit...bcoz of psi blades

Meld actually is more efficient than Psi blades

This is pretty much how I play layana except i get traps earlier. BTW I don't find consumables a waste at all, at most I only need 4 sets of tangooes which will last throughout the game, I don't see why ring of health is a cost effective choice.

Wait a sec, doesnt refraction protects 6 times from any type of damage infliction??? This means bradwarden (centaur)'s thorn aura thingy will trigger/waste this part of refraction. I'm sure axe's helix also will trigger/waste as well. Won't centaur be able to defeat lanaya??? Considering centaur has more hp at lv6...
One more qn, does radience trigger/waste refraction as well? In that case pudge/tormented soul with radience can easily waste refraction within 2 secs? hope to clarify

yes to radiance, yes to centaur's 3rd skill.

You don't need any chasing power at all, because psionic traps have 1000 range or so. Far from techie mines.

Also, this build seems to be made for EM, as you simply can't have all of those items in a decent normal game.

too many items, games shouldnt go that long, if they do, u dont deserve to win. Just go Treads Bottle and Stygian if ur enemies have a lot of agi int stygian 3-4 hit kills them with meld and refraction. Then butterfly. If your vsering strength heros it mite be wise to get a bracer or 2, or maybe even a vangaurd.

Max psitrap, it's a free maphack and chasing skill. If you have deployed traps while farming, fleeing enemy can't escape coz you can slow them in advance.

maybe nice strategy but your items suck, 1st desolator end i think you cant ahve more then 1 orb then buterfly, this after early game items.end meld is 1 of yours main skill. think you hide in a line, wait for enemy, your cooldown for meld is gone then he com you atack then meld again then atack, thets 400 damege end -armor for 10 sec. so thet is importent. if he run ulti end i take ulti in begin only once. in late game more ulti..

It seems like you've never really tried this strategy.

1) like someone said... you NEED at least 1 level of meld early on.
2) You have a lot of expensive items, but nothing to address HP... enemies will tear you up at this rate.
3) Enemies... add enchantress... here's why... Enchantress vs lanaya early game is a stalemate. If enchant gets low she casts heal, if you get low you meld, but later on, enchant can tear out half your hp with one cast of her first skill. if you have refract on, that doesn't matter because the skill has almost no cooldown.

This strat I find is much lacking in practicality and is largly a schoolboy daydream, sorry.

ITEM build is so large, just put in a stygan desolator will do

i hope you have read my comment before (number 50 in the list), i talked about how effective lanaya's ultimate can be.

i want to give an advise about lanaya's ultimate.

when you farm, always, i emphasize this, always plant traps all the way to enemy's tower (not near the tower, because it will see the trap). and plant them also on suspicious spots, such as intersections and near neutral creeps/ roshan.

those traps should be put in near places from one to another. don't trigger them all yet, but if it is urgent, it's okay. when you think it's enough, or you need to go back to the base, go back.

then trigger them one by one (simultaneously) ONLY when an enemy hero is passing.

it's a psychological game. instinctively, he will feel unsafe. and there will be two possibilities.

first, he will return to his base quickly.

second, he will continue going through the ling sloooowlyyy... and that's the perfect time to backdoor him with your friends!

The way you can kill your enemies without the traps, is by killing them BEFORE they have the chance to run away...
That's where meld comes into play....
Meld somewhere you KNOW the enemy will go through, and wait till they're right next to you, double meld, bla bla it's all in the guide...
And it works really damn good (unless they have gem, which makes meld useful only by the minus to armor, but it's still nice)

I left Meld out only because your killing won't necessarily start until you finish Psi Blades, for optimal effect.

Traps were your choice. You could use them as wards, as I've seen before...and as killing tools. But for me PERSONALLY, in my sense only, I'm not a trap sorta person. xD

Ward-trapping for Lanaya isn't very effective in terms of sight; It doesn't see too far. =/ Cluster-trapping would work, though.

As I type this using my Wii...my aim at the screen is finely honed. You didn't need to know that. =]

The ally/enemy portion is generalized for one reason. And one reason only.

u shouldve got at least lvl 1 meld to prevent gankage.
also, u do realise phy blades do very low damage at early game right? and it would be hard to stand on the sideline without being harassed so u could farm creeps. the range is only far enough to hurt the 3 creeps next to it at early game (lvl 4 PsyBlades)

theres no point of gettin psyblades if ur damage is pitiful and it is hard to get into a good placement where u can actually spill ur damage without being harassed.

nice guide nice. i would differ from it when it comes to traps just because they are fun to spam with.

the strategy is ok but the item build, its just way too expensive. anybody can own with any hero with these set of items.

After looking over majority of comments, I've seen that the desolator-oriented build is most useful to people.

Then other comments indirectly tell me I'm a 'tard about traps.

I actually originally submitted this sometime around late-June, maybe a little later, and I'm pretty sure I've learned more tricks about our dear Lanaya, and I'll be sure to include them as well as slim down the strat slightly.

The point is whether or not you can see Lanaya under her Meld.
I see that you give Pudge a gem. In which case, all heroes are a potential threat to Lanaya if they can spot her in the Meld.

You know, you could get assault cuirass for farther more armor reduction, ive gotten someones armor down to -19 so yaeh. 6 from deso, 5 from assault, and 8 from meld. Deadly lol

The only suggestion that will best suite lanaya is to create a build, depending on your enemies... you could always check it in the player info / -ma unless it is disabled...

meld pwnz every hero early game you can do 400 dmg + 2 hits + -8 armour in 2 seconds... thats what makes lanaya special... low cooldown

I could also suggest an early game experience denial trick that you can do [needs creep blocking trick]. You can harass the opponent and push him far back until he/she tower hugs. Make sure to gap the hero from the creeps where you only get the exp not the other hero.. usually this is easier for ranged hero but with meld and the - armor really hurts early to mid game!

I could also suggest an early game experience denial trick that you can do [needs creep blocking trick]. You can harass the opponent and push him far back until he/she tower hugs. Make sure to gap the hero from the creeps where you only get the exp not the other hero.. usually this is easier for ranged hero but with meld and the - armor really hurts early to mid game!

Hello Laelion. I would like to say that congrats on getting the first strat mine has been awaiting approval FOREVER, but i dont think you should have let these people push you. I agree full-heartedly with not getting Meld early game. If your playing against good people then using it as an escape early game is retarded. You meld you cant move. Next thing you know if your top or bot, which you should be, youve got 3-4 heroes standing around you. I myself prefer the stygian build it works well then radiance after stygian but the guy down there that proposed Mjollnir i dont know about that. why waste a perfectly good orb effect. As for skadi build if you practice with the traps you wont need to have skadi. Other than that i think the build is great and very similar to mine.

Sorry to double post but also i read comments about assualt Curaiss. Dont do it. Seriously assault is the worst upgrade, period imo, but terrible for Lanaya. For close to the same price you can get a Hyperstone and a Stygian. Assault adds no extra Atk Speed over hyperstone so i suggest you use the 4025 gold to make a Stygian.

Regarding the meld thing that is your discretion.. if you are defensive then dont get meld if you are offensive and would like to finish the game early I suggest that you get meld even if Level 1 as this skill can kill early on [-armor is a bit harassing as you get the full damage w/o reductions]

i agree with TOPAK™ get atleast lvl 1 Psionic Trap on lvl6,7,8,9 or 10 cuz you'll be needing it for escaping/killing/chasing and its really fun to use...i tried it and my friends are annoyed with Psiotic Trap cuz its cooldown is really fast and 5traps are not bad...nice guide!

i usually played lanaya at public game and i got beyond godlike with this items : 2 vanguard ( makes ur refraction imba ),BoT, burize,bloodstone..but if the game is still going on i will definitly get a butterfly..coz make it clear ( all agi heroes are sutable to use butterfly).

For 1v1 games it's best to only get meld and refraction in the beginning.

nice guide. I look down on this hero at 1st, and always died at the early game. But later, when i figure the way she works,wow,awesome! She's truely an assasin,super ganker at the late game. just make sure u increase her damage and attack speed high enough..then make good use of the meld,refract and the trap, u can give any running away heroes 1hit ko.

zeus is quite spammable in early game, i believe... his skills will cost much mana but he won't even hurt you in refraction state.
Lanaya's refraction is weak against venomancer, jakiro, lucifer, (and other poison-like damage heroes) and radiance...

i think thats a good strat b/c your right meld costs too much early game and maxing out blades and refract are better early game nice job!!

i buy a dagger for lanaya. Refract, Blink near the enemy, quickly meld then attack. That should do a lot of initial damage to scare the enemy off. Chase him by planting a trap in front of him and activating it quickly.

Dude no offense, but your strategy sux. First of all, one point early on in meld(at level 2 or 4), and PSIONIC TRAPS ARE FRIGGIN IMBA! most other heroes will have to pay lots of mana or sacrifice their orb effect for a slow effect, so I think having an instant AOE 50% slow effect with lots of range is pretty strong.

And btw her best item is Lothar's edge. You put a bunch of items that are almost impossible to obtain in a normal match!

Lothar's will do fine for lanaya for the suprise but for the damage and the cost it is better to get crystalys.. if the enemy puts up a ward your lothar's will be useless as the element of surprise is gone while for crystaly's you still have the chance for crit.. and need to say more no armor + bonus damage + chance to crit =

instead of getting meld on lvl 1 I would rather suggest to get refract then psi blades then meld.. gives you protection chance to farm better and do an early damage/kill

BUT this is grat guide for pot heads like me whos micro mangement is out the door and in the drain therefore traps arnt to effective to me but i still think if you have the slgihtest micro skills you should spec into the tult its really worth it if you can use it right

As of now, I don't think so.
Skadi states that being on a ranged hero, it is NOT an orba effect and will stack with other orb effects. But with Desolator, it doesn't stack.

for people wondering what double meld is, it is simply staying in meld until meld cools down, attacking a hero and then quickly melding and attacking again, as they run away. I am a fan of skadi becauase i dont was to have to have another finger on the hotkey for activate trap, but desolater is the most common lvl 3 item i see on her.

i think your skill build is wrong. You should try to max out meld and refraction. Meld will give you lane control and it's good for harrassing.Why isn't there Cuirass for decrease armor?You don't even lay traps before hand when chasing just lay it infront and then activate it quickly if your timing is good you'll slow them. You should get buriza as your 2nd preference. So stygian then buriza this is because buriza only pwns when you attack fast so i suggest to get deso first. Rofl, I skipped Deso and went straight for buriza. Then BF And then Skadi. By the time I finished Skadi, score was 19-1. This hero is a gank GODDESS. Slap down traps on escape routes and explode them as they pass by, Hide near your traps and break out of hide for bonus, break again and then finish.

And also, Skill build should be Blades, meld, blades, meld etc. Till both are maxed, then put skill in your traps and max out refraction. Getting blades and meld early on help you scare away people so you can farm without getting owned and also it helps with early kills. (Dual meld at lv 8 = IMBA? 400 bonus dmg.)

Too much items, usually we can't farm that much. And i wouldn't get a vanguard if i play. And also you lvl up 1 meld to dissapear so you won't get kill early game. Without meld early you will die.

1-Meld-Refraction combo makes Lanaya deadly in early game especially against low hp int and agi heroes. If you don't start with meld, you lose your main advantage

2-Your item build, like all strategies in this forum, is so expensive and doesn't match main function(s) of Lanaya. Lanaya is a two-stage hero:

early stage: Skill oriented (meld and refraction) but not too much gold gain from creeps. she tries to hunt heroes unawared and kill them. so max meld and refraction and don't care of gp

late stage: Lanaya becomes a team play hero, not an individual killer(so eye of skadi is useless with your short range although it's increased with skill) make her a desolator so she can further decrease armor of enemy heroes. but main function of Lanaya is about her traps. Trap fleeing heroes, help your team. Assassinate by using your meld skill at certain points by using your estimation (try to estimate where your enemy is going; go there and cast a meld-refract combo)

So the appropriate item build for Lanaya is as follows:

1- Power treads
2- Vanguard
3- Desolator
4. doesnt matter
5. doesnt matter
6. doesnt matter

I recomend getting meld earlier then you have it, because to get 1st blood all you have to do is bait hero in, meld when they cant see you, then, when they go by you, you atk and refract and you got 1st blood. otherwise great guide 10/10

Its not too off from the mark. I generally try to avoid things like Buriza's with character who have +damage skills, because the bonus damage from Refraction doesn't work with the Buriza crit. Either way though, its a good item - I just prefer getting a Desolator first.

my stat build is meld, psi, meld psi, refract, meld, trap, psi and max out meld+psi

refract is useful enough at level 1, i only use refract to escape
meld is ur best weapon early game..
this is all you do at level 8:
put 1 trap near where the hero is standing and another trap slightly behind him, in the direction hes about to run
meld, but make sure he doenst see u, when he walks by, then you must hit him, meld, hit again, activitate trap then run infront of him and hit him like crzy, if he somehow escapes, active ur second trap and run ahead of him and then meld and k0

The reason Skadi and Desolator don't stack is not so odd. The slow from Skadi is a buff. The armour reduction from desolator is also a buff. The game does not let any 2 buffs be activated in a single strike, therefore, even though skadi is NOT an orb effect with Lanaya it will not skack with desolator.

Anyway great guide, could have used some pictures or even an attempt to explain the use of traps. An explanation of refraction would be better for people who have no clue what it does.

The build is expensive but I doubt laelion expects you to ALWAYS get EVERY item in the build.

there is a BUG in this HERO!!!

i think i'd prefer to use ring of basillus and tango as my first items. You need mana for your refraction and life regen especially when you are battling against nukers in your lane.
That would help you survive and avoid going to base often to avoid lvl gap.
You really need the refraction as protection against high damage spells and can give you damage as well to help you in farming...Treads and deso will be next in line for your hero killing...

I play very rare with this hero, but she sure earns the name of an assasin.Here is my item build:first of all i buy boots of speed and 2 wraith bands, and learn refraction and meld,With these 2 skills it's veru easy to kill in the early game; just do thge mel right and then a couple of hits using refraction and your opponent is gone.The first and the most important item that I get for her is a dagger of escape.You can use it to escape while being invisible and surrounded by enemy heroes, but first of all you use it in chasing.Meld, then you put the trap and activate it and beat your opponent with bonus damage from refraction, then you put another trap, blink, meld and all over again.

I would like to repeat what blooo said twice. Range of traps = 2000
This means you don’t even have to be on screen to set/activate the traps and it also means you can set traps behind them to slow them down if the run.

I would also like to highlight gilanc's explanatory strategy on how to use traps effectively. Using them right can help you get kills and also save you from kills if you are running.

@betik - bloodstone is way too expensive for what it does, its stat boosts are too weak and it needs charges to become better. But if you are getting the charges, you should already be winning because you're killing so much.

I'll say it again, the item build is way too expensive. And the radiance came out of nowhere (last line of mid game). Radiance is useful only for its damage as your psi blades provide the same function aoe function. Vanguard is also pretty bad at protecting you. I recommend ring of health or essences in early game.

Lanaya is very fragile early game so I get bracers instead of wraith bands because it helps out with hp and the difference in 3 dmg isn't much.

Eye of skadi is only useful for its stat boosts. The traps can stop people from running just like the frost attack and are a lot more versatile. I recommend getting Linken’s sphere because it helps with the stats, uses the ring of health you have from the early game, and can negate spells giving your refraction an extra instance (not sure if this works but it would make sense that the sphere would trigger off of spells first before refraction. You could always just activate refraction after the sphere triggers)

The assault cuirass that people recommend buying is also too expensive for its effects. Between meld and stygian desolator their armor will be really low and they will die quickly. The cost for the armor boosts isn’t worth it, buy something else with the 4k and only buy the hyperstone.

The butterfly has been mentioned a few times and is good with almost all agility heroes, including Layana. It gives damage, increases attack speed, and provides evasion which helps her to survive. I almost recommend the butterfly instead of the desolator because meld will reduce more armor than the desolator and the butterfly gives just as much damage increase but also increases attack speed and gives evasion.

Lothar’s edge is also good for getting a kill, but SHOULD only work once or twice. It is also a nice boost to damage and agility.

Boots of travel are good in small games so you can jump between lanes but in 4v4 or 5v5 they are unnecessary.

Sange and Yasha gives pretty good stats and is one of the better orb choices. It also gives hp which helps.

My item build looks like:
Early game
2x Bracers
Ring of Health/ Perseverance
Power Treads (strength usually but agility if you need damage)

Mid game
Finish Linken's Sphere
Work on Butterfly

Late Game
Finish Butterfly
Work on/finish Buriza do Kyanon
