Hi, I finally return to the realm of guidemaking after my Techies guide to bring you my third guide, how to win with Broodmother. I shall show you just how imba the Spider is... Updated for 6.57b.

Black Arachnia

Black Arachnia - Broodmother

Range: 128 | Move Speed: 315
Primary: AGI
Str: 17 + 2.5 | Agi: 18 + 2.2 | Int: 18 + 2
Damage: 44-50 | HP: 473 | Mana: 234
HP Regen: 0.76 | Mana Regen: 0.73
Attack Speed: 0.69 | Armor: 5
Spawn Spiderlings Spawn Spiderlings (W)
The Broodmother injects her young into a target, creating immense pain. If the target is killed by the injection, spiderlings will be born.
Level 1 - 75 damage, 1 spiderling.
Level 2 - 150 damage, 2 spiderlings.
Level 3 - 225 damage, 3 spiderlings.
Level 4 - 300 damage, 4 spiderlings.
• Damage type: magical
• Units from which the Spiderlings spawn leave no corpse on death.
• Deals no damage to ethereal units.
• If the target is killed within 0.9 seconds of being hit by this skill, the Spiderlings will spawn.
• Casting range: 700
• Duration: 0.9 seconds (buff) / 60 seconds (spiderlings)
Mana Cost: 75/90/105/120
Cooldown: 10
Comment: This is your nuke and your pushing/farming skill at the same time. If its not maxed by lvl7, you're an idiot if you intend to follow the bulk of this guide. Why? Because you won't be able to farm or push. Further explanation in the main guide.

Spin Web Spin Web (B)
Spins a web which grants the Broodmother invisibility in an area, regeneration, as well as a passive speed increase. Regeneration and speed improves per level.
Level 1 - 2 allowed webs, +2 HP regeneration per second, and +20% movespeed.
Level 2 - 4 allowed webs, +4 HP regeneration per second, and +23% movespeed.
Level 3 - 6 allowed webs, +6 HP regeneration per second, and +26% movespeed.
Level 4 - 8 allowed webs, +8 HP regeneration per second, and +29% movespeed.
• Has a fade time of 2 seconds.
• Destroys trees in the AoE when placed, but will grow back after the corresponding time (even if the web is still there).
• The web has a sight range of 150, during both day and night.
• The web does not prevent neutrals from spawning.
• If more webs are spawned than allowed, the oldest one will disappear.
• Casting range: 600
• Area of Effect: 370
• Spin Webs show an icon on the minimap
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 90/70/50/30
Comment: Another heavily imba skill. You get invisibility, movespeed, and regeneration as long as you don't move more than 200 or so. Don't max this until later, only level it when you need additional webs. One level - two webs - should be sufficient until lvl8 or so. Mainly used for early game lane control, secondarily for spotting Runes and creeping heroes. Further explanation in the main guide.
Incapacitating Bite Incapacitating Bite (P)
Gives the Broodmother venoms which will greatly reduce the target's ability to function, and deals extra damage.
Level 1 - Gives a 10% chance to miss, slows movement speed by 10%, and adds 2 damage, lasts 2 seconds.
Level 2 - Gives a 15% chance to miss, slows movement speed by 20%, and adds 4 damage, lasts 2 seconds.
Level 3 - Gives a 20% chance to miss, slows movement speed by 30%, and adds 6 damage, lasts 2 seconds.
Level 4 - Gives a 25% chance to miss, slows movement speed by 40%, and adds 8 damage, lasts 2 seconds.
• Incapacitating Bite is an Orb Effect.
• The affected enemies' miss chance stacks with evasion and terrain dodge chance.
• You have to use the attack, attack-move or patrol commands for this skill to work.
Mana Cost: N/A
Cooldown: N/A
Comment: Broodmother's passive skill. Great anti-DPS - slows them AND makes them miss attacks. The sole downside is that this is an orb-effect, but thats what Vlads is for. Combined with the additional movespeed from your Web and your hefty base movespeed, this is enough to mow down enemies with only one level of this, assuming they don't have Boots because they're smart - once they get Boots, it becomes more difficult but still doable. Obviously more is better, so max it when you're done with Spiderlings and in between Webs. Further explanation in the main guide.
Insatiable Hunger Insatiable Hunger (T)
The Broodmother develops a violent thirst for vital fluids. This lust greatly increases her attack damage and gives her a vampiric attack.
Level 1 - 60 bonus damage, 40% life steal, lasts 14 seconds.
Level 2 - 80 bonus damage, 60% life steal, lasts 14 seconds.
Level 3 - 100 bonus damage, 80% life steal, lasts 14 seconds.
• Fully stacks with all items providing Lifesteal (both Orb and aura based).
• Can only be removed by Purge (from Diffusal, Stone Gaze, Unstable Current or the Satyr Trickster)
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 60/45/30
Comment: The primary source of Spider's unbalancedness - the I-Win Button. Thats exactly how it works: you press this and kill everyone in sight. Powerful skill at all stages of the game. Further explanation in the main guide.

683 By akmedivh 2009-12-14

actually me and my friend were trying some new brood tactics. and i can say that we managed to get into the enemy base mostly in less then 15min. Though my friend is kinda new with that "other" supporting hero so it kinda depends on him if we can push like hell or not ^^; once our lane opponents changed for 3 times and they all quit in the end.but anyway, we'r now practicing and trying to make him master his job. if we manage to get a 30 win streak with our heroes, i'll share our tactics here :

I tried this guide yesterday since I really wanted to play as broodmother, and it worked out just fine

681 By Shimrra_3 2009-12-09

Gotta love permabashers -_-

680 By clarence_94 2009-12-09

Troll is also one of the worst enemies of brood.. I played today and activated my ulti and he activated his. I was pawned almost instantly

Finishing Vlads after Butterfly is what I usually do - until then you don't have enough passive damage to really justify lifesteal. If you stacked some Wraiths then finishing Vlads first might be a better idea (especially as thats basically no space otherwise).
Finish Treads relatively quickly, although this guide was made when Treads were better so maybe get Phase Boots (NEED TO UPDATE THIS!!), your choice, then farm either a Butterfly or a BKB depending on the enemies. Then farm the other one.

678 By RooksAhoy 2009-11-30

I like getting the parts to vlads early and finishing treads, should i wait to finish vlads after an eagle horn or even butterfly? I have been finishing treads and vlads then going for eagle horn, bkb if there are a lot of disablers, should i get eagle horn sooner for that early damage boost? After reading this went for bkb, damn good suggestion bkb with ult really equals 10 seconds of invincibility
