Yes i know that when u have radiance people will know you are there! but what will it matter if they can't attack you?! or see you for that matter?! THINK! When you have radiance, you will be able to deal 35 damage/second without breaking a sweat! Stopping your opponent's push alone or atleast scaring them! Have you asked yourself if i will even ambush anyone with this strategy? sheesh. if you want to ambush that badly, then just stick aroudn the enemy with radiance, and attack when you have softened them up! do not rate this strategy or even comment or double post before you know what you are talking about and have analyzed the whole situation, noob!

Sorry for double posting :p, but i just did a damage calculation per hit when you backstab with all the items i have listed. on a 0 armor opponent you will get off with 400+ damage per hit! thats pretty shabby .

Hey when I play stealth,I take permanent invisibility at lvl 6,then Max other abillities then other lvls.

Hard time with stunners will be solved with Linken Sphere. And i do not understand when Xain said i should get boots, because my build already contains power treads. the only other boot is boots of travel, which, depending on the circumstances, I may have to get.

I am sorry, but there is an important tip that i forgot. You may want to buld a perserverence or atleast get ring of health before starting radiance.. You will need this regeneration to farm.

warchief should be included in the "Some heroes are a particular nuisance against you" list

I think riki needs to get power treads first then butterfly, then skadi then MKB, and finally Linkon Spere

nice strat.. but i always fram for MKB first because if you have MKB as your item 90% of gold that you farm will surely urs.. then go for radiance right away.. for me i think instead of hand of midas i suggest for eagle horn right away and also why lingken?? for Stats boost? i think battle furry will be better to boost up your damage.. afraid of stun?? your stealth assasin remember?? PEMANENT INVISIBILITY dude.. you can backstap anyone just using blink strike.. then wack wack wack = Holy Shit Ownage! ^^,

You usually can't get radiance and MKB at the same time, so i picked radiance. if you have read the strategy, you would know why i included linken sphere.

Its just that, Orochi, some people do not really appreciate what we do here, and comment stupidly about the strategy before reading and comprehending it. I will hold back next time, but maybe you should also set some rules for commenting.

Well, you didn't put in a counter against people who will buy Gem of True Sight. A great value at 750 gold to render your ultimate useless. Other than that, it's a good strat.

well, i think for those guys with gem, the linken's sphere will be ffective, you can just go away, and ask for help... This is a nice strat... I usually go for radiance also as my item before butterfly or eye of skadi...

Good Point garfield, it seems i forgot that. Well, here it is now, If the enemy gets sentry wards, get a gem of your own :p(besides it will help u see their stealth heroes, mines, and other stuff). If they get a gem, simply make killing that hero a prioroty. But doing so for you alone should be a bit harder, so request assistance from teammates. if ur alone against him, Smoke screen him and wack wack. if u think u can't win, smoke screen then run away.

Anyways, I randomed Rikimaru this morning and tried your radiance build, the psychological torment on the enemy was priceless! Also, the linken's sphere did it's job very well on those times that they try to disable you while you're visible. Just to add, one of my team mates was a leaver so I got one of his cranium bashers. LOL, you should see the damage when they get stunned while being backstabbed, it was hilarious! XD When I finally got a butterfly... well, let's just say Permastun + backstab + Radiance = OWNAGE.

No, Two bashers are not cost effective for rikimaru, except if you are maybe going 1v1. manta style is not effective on him too.

Bradwarden? lol, don't make me laugh! this guy is a joke versus any agility hero. I beat him pure 1v1 with my mortred(treads, 2 bracers, MKB, and helm of dominator) and he had 3 hearts, Guinsoo's scythe of vyse, treads. and he was at a higher level. This job is even easier with the evasion and stealth of rikimaru. just run around him with Radiance, or harrass with backstab until he dies. his warstop is too slow to catch you, and riki is too fast for him. use smoke screen and hes as good as dead. Lol, bradwarden is a pure joke. oh and return damage does not affect backstab damage. should he get return damage, you should get helm of dominator and aegis. And most importantly, a hastened linken sphere(for recovery purposes), you can get an additional perserverance if you need to, or better yet, battle fury.

Whoever has more micro wins.

Simple fact: Sange and Yasha = noob item. i found that out the hard way. I am not saying ur a noob or anything, just saying that there are better items.

I don't think that Eye of Skadi is good for Rikimaru. what's better is Sange and yasha or satanic. throw away the power threads use boots of travel and use Vanguard or Mekansm

I like this guide, nice item build and hints. If I random riki I would have to try these items out. One question, im not sure how Hand of midas works. Do you just click on the item, then click on the creep = gold. I saw iit has 65 second cooldown, if this is the case its pretty worthless. 65 seconds to kill 1 creep??

Why take Linken before Skadi?hmm... I suggest that you should take out the linken and replace it for a Tarasque or something

Ok ok, loze, if everyone needs to make their own guide, then we will be flooded. SnY is great! u could replace eye of skadi with it, but eye of skadi has more damage and a 100% slow effect. Linken before skadi because linken's effect is more important. Hand of midas' effect isn't just to kill a creep for almost double gold, it also substantially increases your attack speed.

just wanna comment ont he radiance thing.. remember that SA has blink strike that deals 120 damage at level 4 and add your backstab damage plus the radiance. that's 155 damage already + backstab damage. also, hide in your smoke screen and you will benefit from radiance..

im guessing u forgot to add how to counter someone with gem of true sight which only costs about 750 gold...

:sigh: Radiance fits Rikimaru like a burning glove. What does it matter if they know you´re there? They still can´t hit you... And what´s the use of staying invisible doing absolutely nothing? The only way to counter someone with a gem is by ganking him, since most of the time they are hard to kill heroes such as Pandaren, Treant, Abaddon, etc.

I always find that by the time someone pulls out a gem, you've become too big a problem to deal with that way :), by the way anyone seen my guide...

unless u hang around as a support hero... give ally heros items that increases health, smokescreen, ward behind the guy so he cant flee and chase. should be good. i dont think the radiance is really good though for rikimaru, even though radiances spell is really good.

actually for the first time i think that the radiance could actually be a good idea. but you will have to attack fast. rikimaru's main killing strat as you know is smokescreen attack then chase. also before you smokescreen you want to get right behind them for the leading backstab. if you have a radiance and stand there for too long, well they might run off and you might've lost your chance. overall pretty good strat but i must say that bashers are usually great for SA because after you perform the smokescreen and eat about half their hp, mostlikely they will run. and with the permabash, stun stun stun and backstab and their dead! also one more thing. you have greatly over emphasized the need for farming. personally i view SA as a hero killer as his smoke screen/blink strike/ and backstab are all great to build up on a kill, and the invisiblity just gives you the edge of first attack. thanks to you, i have greatly improved my personal item build. sure you could radiance and follow them all day, but wouldnt you think that would make getting a gem a priority for the team?
also getting a midas late game is sorta odd. earlier would probably help.

Great, but I dun like the radiance... The other people will know that you are about to get them and they run, but then again, if they run, just farm. I think you dun nid the boots of speed yet, and I think in the beginning depending on how many people you are playing I think that you should get yasha if it is 1 on 1, then your backstab will be +16 when you are level 7. Also you should use backstab when they are near a tower, then u attack them while a tower attacks them. You don't nid blink-strike yet until you can accually get permenent invisibility and you disapear quick enough so they cannot attack you. Use blink strike when they run away, so you can still get backstab bonus :)

Great strategy! So great, that I go directly for sacred relic and radiance after the threads, especially in apem games. But watch out for Gondar, he´s really annoying.

i think radiance would add to rikimaru's effectivity, the immolation damage would be great in farming, the good thing is that you won't have to worry bout the creeps(tnx to his ulti!!!). the problem though is that they'll know you're there, but who cares?? they still cant see you!(not unless thy have gem).

Get a gem for yourself, eat their wards. Besides tanky heroes, Windwalkers are the most logical choice to carry a gem for the team (especially since their side doesn't know about it).

but wat wuld happen if people got wards with true sight and when ur radience hits them, they drop a ward, wuldnt dat prevent u from farming? or wuld u carry a gem of true sight?

i agree with kill_me_now mjolnir would rock for helping to farm adn the agility dn extra damage would help too. Also for all those people that want ot know how to take on a hero with gem u could do it urself just go after them when they are by themselves or even in a group. stand behind trees and have a chicken with u, cause all ur teamates are noobs and ran away. Blink strike in and use smoke whack away until the hero is about to get out cause even with the gem the dodge from smoke and heavens butterfly will mean they have to leave the smoke in order to just hit u. Once they are free blink back to ur chicken adn wait the 4-5 seconds left for smoke to recharge before doing it again till they have low health and are running away to their mommy's. Then chase them cause they know they will die adn backstab should finish them. If they are smart adn run before you have them on low health it doesn't matter cause now they can't see you and u can push again, or get ur team mates to stand up above them to pwn them when they leave. It's actually pretty simple. Note the main part of this will not work without a cooperating teamate or a chicken. heaven great guide radiance rocks with SA. everyone who says it doesn't obviously don't realise that just cause tehy know ur there doesn't mean they can get u. good work

If you had a teammate it'd be easier to have him help you lol... except that he'd die if you went and poked four enemies at once. Hmmm about that bit. Lol. The chicken-blink is a cool idea, I think I put something like it in my latest hero idea... it has this skill where you crash on an enemy from range; put a ward/allied summon near neutrals and crash on the neutrals to escape... since it has to target an enemy... wrong subject though. Chicken-Blinkstrike = cool idea. Done. I respect this guide a lot despite reeeeally disliking the idea of revealing yourself with the Radiance, I know it appeals to lotsa people though. Its an SA guide and I have one so I respect this one since its good. Ok took too long here bye bye now.

Awesome idea with radience, i shall enjoy trying it alot. I did write an explanation for noobs to show why it would be good but i tired to post and my comp timed out. In brief - doesnt say that radiance doesnt stack, so you could be with a friend, double the effect and no one might notice. Awesome strat, i loves it.

your guide was great, and i understand the emphasis in the first two sections..to FARM. lolz, nice. but i just disagree with one thing, the skill build for mine is a bit varied as i like to get smoke screen with blink instead of backstab. i ignore back stab because since you are weak early game enmies aren't gonna run, their gonna stay and fight so you won't get BS bonus damage that much. except possibly against other late gamers such as dark terror. smoke screen works wonders because it works so well with your blink for some harrassment. i like to blink in, and then lay smoke screen direclty behind them but still on them that they get the "debuff" (miss, slowed, and silenced). this usually results in a early first blood or they go back so i can farm for the "expensive" items you had in your item build ^^^^^^^. i just save back stab later because thats when my agility is high enough to acutally do some damage :D.

Ok so we start...it goes up even until they r in the lead.. I continued farming and when i had everything before the radiance i went to farm neutral creeps... it went well ....but they were breaking in...i hurry and get my sacred relic and someone buys me the recipe....Pure Pwnage from then on...i was standing next to em and they were just taking dmg! i had about 90+70 dmg or something and i was raping their asses when they had low hp from radiance....great fun. Eventually i got my other items etc...i was owning but the bloody darkterror was owning more! he has like 150+250dmg and he 2 hitted the lich..lol..anyway the game ended quickly after the ogre left and i took his bloodstone (asked ofc)....It was GG already but i wanted more kills and since it was a german host i could see him complaining about me not helping pushing cause i wanted more kills..more lol. anyway the best part was when i was farming for an assault cuirass instead of the hand of midas...I came across Roshan..He was standing there peacefully, rocks crumbling etc.. I thought well hell i almost have the money who cares if i get killed...i blinkstrike in cast SS and bada-boom! uhh? i wasnt taking any dmg..like 20 per hit...i mean my reduction was 63% but still...eventually magnus came along when i had jsut killed him and he stole my cheese...DOOM ON YOU!!!

im not sure if anyone is still checking these comments but i think it would be a good idea to put sven under the troublesome characters list. his stun is very spammable which makes him a danger to riki along with his +armor skill. once he gets out of the cloud his gods strength can take a leg off riki as well. i guess it would be a different story if i ran from him, but i generally stand and fight so he doesnt get backstabs. great guide btw!

I've never tried it, but I bet someone could work out some nice synergies with Riki having radiance+dagon. Yes, Dagon is an int item which doesn't benefit Riki that much, but the nuke could be nice. Radiance harass down to half health, then backstab+blink and dagon to finish them off. Of course, you could get more raw damage using AGI weapons instead, but it's an interesting though, no?

you should have treads and diffusal and sometimes a vanguard...diffusal is really effective for rikimaru then convert it to manta style after using all charges...





as i see it,your build is mostly for utilizing his backstab and increasing his battle effectiveness,but im afraid radiance ruined all these effectiveness... if u want damage why not try mkb?

You know, at first when I read the guide, and saw radiance, the first thing I thought was what a noob. But later, I was randomed riki, and I thought, bah, lets try. So I first got hand of midas and then the power treads, and then sacred relic and then sold the hand to get the recipe for radiance, and even though in my head I thought big mistake, I went with it.

But then.

Ownage.

Radiance for riki is probably the best ever. Because the radiance gives a 35dm/sec you will get lots of last kills, lots. After I got the radiance money starting pouring in like shizzle, so I got a basher. And then money wouldn't stop pouring in so I got another basher. And then, an eaglehorn eventually to butterfly. All I could say then was Good game.

Beyond Godlike. Triple kills. All because of radiance. It is definetely the item to get for riki. Ownage.

decent guide , but imo items should be 3x Wraith Bands , S&Y , treads and buriza. Just played 5 min ago with this build .. end score was 17-2 ;)

yea awsome guide.. I mean with his blink strike u can easily catch up to ppl who are running away .. and who cares if ppl know if ur there or not. If they dont and u cant even touch them cz once u come out of invisi they'll pwn u, then its worthless being invisi when u cant exploit it.. and nice guide.. bfly on riki is awsome.. bfly is cheap on many many agi heroes lol .. 60 dmg.. 30% evasion, a little armor, and 55% or 60% atk increase.. i forget which tht makes agility heroes so cheap in dota in late game lol

Pretty decent guide, but the radiance isnt a smart move. if ur playing againts retards or beginners, yes, but if you're playing against someone with a touch of skill, they will know where you are, adn spam their spells in your area, or know to drop a ward. sure radiance does beautiful dmg, but it takes away ur ulti whenever i play riki i usually focus on getting his agi up and causing some havoc

Good guide HH but i still disagree wif radiance. Say in a situation you want to sneak up to them whilst they are creeping (or any situation), rad will give ur position away and they will run away to safety. Only noobs stick around while rad is burning them away. As mentioned id go for mjollnir anyday as its equally good at farming and the lightning orb effect.

Your clones will also be invisible and you 3 will can surprise attak enemies. Besides they also got backstab so surely, one or 2 of you may at least be attacking him at the back thus doing additional damage.
Another your clones will last longer because of the smoke screen.

I've seen two very very different builds for Riki, one w/ Sange Yasha(stealth), and one with Radiance(stealth and annoying). This is a great guide, emphasizing on the synergy between Radiance's immolation and SA permanent invisibility.

We all know that radiance will give Rikimaru away. I've played with a friend who used Rikimaru and he got radiance. But my team had sentry wards ready to plant whenever we see the effects of radiance, and we managed to make him run instead. But my friend isn't as good as many others, so with caution and good tactics, radiance can be used to it's full potential. Radiance is still a very painful item.
Conclusion: It's not just the item that makes a player a pro, but he's individual skills and tactics, and how well he can work with his team.

Your item build is ok.. but i think you should change hands of midas to Gem of true sight. So you can destroy true sight wards. Only for 3v3 to 5v5 games.

iv tried using radience on riki before and it works beautifly early on when no one else has radience. But as soon as a couple other people get it ur srtatagey is useless becasue of rikis low health.

This strategy is useless.

RAdiance is too xpensive to wait for it.

But one question why the Hand yu can only transmute up 2 lvl 5's that means the strong sartyr can't be hit by it because he is lvl 6 i think the hand is useless with all heros unless you can't touch creeps but with radiance you can forest farm easy as anything with SA good guide!!! probs.?!

sorry but butterfly over radiance/sny any day, its a +90 dmg on riki with 30 evasion and 60% ias, thats win. also radiance isnt that great, the other team is getting hit for 35hp/second... big deal, if you pick riki before them, theyre likely to have some tanks, so sparklies dmg isnt gonna do much. skill build is fine, although an early smoke for escape/gank works too

good build. doesnt really matter that ppl know ur there with radiance. they still cant hit u if ur invis unless they have gem or wards. these ppl are dead if u have the full build. doesnt even matter if they have gem once you have bfly and radiance

you must be playing absolute tools, radiance gives away your position, ward, stun and rikis gone, he has no health, why give away your element of surprise for 35dmg/second, riki has the potential to do a lot more than that

I guess you're strat is okay, but it has no mention whatsoever with how to deal with gems//wards. If you actually do any good with riki, people will get tired of you sneaking up and raping them, so they get wards and gems. Riki's biggest threat is being seen, seeing how he's so fragile.

The int, and the mana regen is wasted very" much.
If you want to have your Rikimaru save against many disabler, just make BKB mid/late game. Also, rather than skadi, Sange and yasha fits him better. Think, some damage, movement and attack speed, maim, hp boost. And most importantly, it is much cheaper!

HoM is not very useful.
Rikimaru can farm very well with lvl 4 backstab, then you will not need the HoM. Also, the cooldown is very slow, and it is not very effective.

1.perseverance for mana purposes(always a problem with riki)

2.Power Tread (need attk speed) and if playing 6.49, switch between str and agi as you need, probably str at start for hp, then agi later for extra backstab dmg

3. Bracer X2 for health, this guy needs it start game

4.hyperstone (so you chop then even faster)

5.crystalys then buriza

by this time, the game is over, but now that ive read your strat, radiance is good, or butters

with this build ownage, i keep harrasing with blink and smoke combo and in the end i get a lot of kills, also, massive killstealing opportunities with this guys blink

good guide but id have to diagree with begining item build, insted of just one wrath band, i sugest getting 4, this improves you agility giving you more backstab. Also, i buy 3 slippers of agi. and a tango. Other then that,great guid, and we have same stat build

radiance is too expensive early game, if ur dealing with experts, theyd probably put a ward, radiance is great but i'd have to say its risky.

I love this strategy. Won some games with it. Riki is my favorite hero and I try to swap or repick for him in EVERY GAME;he is awesome with radiance. GOOD WORK GUYS!

I dunno...backstabbing is awefully hard sometimes... I prefer adding smokescreen first. great item build though. Though I'd aim for the mkb over the hands of midas which requires high mp to transmute

Radience... true. you cant be seen. but neither can you perform proper ganks since this little item here anounces your arrival. also, while being chased by the enemy and if you get cornered, wards will makes you go "bye bye". Anyway, your ideas to play SA are really unique. Getting HoM is a lil weird to me. I'd like SA to be a hero killer, not a support hero. I'd get MoM or a basher? Baskstabbing isnt very asy to do either btw... but anyway, great guide. 8/10

Why do u get radiance??? u say they knew u are there but they cant hit u. But the problem is, they will run back. Also, when u are farming, they can track u anywhere as long as their creep is there. It will be easy to know which lane u r in. Sange and Yasha + offering is my build. +Butterfly in late games.

I think bristleback is the best counter for Rikimaru cuz his skill Bristleback=60% dmg reduction from rear... I'm kinda new so duon't flame me please...

Everything mostly seems OK, but I think that in Late Game you should sell Hand of Midas and get Buriza(the critical)

Radience is an item you get with most invis hero's (Weaver, Treant etc) because they know you're there, and will most likely run away. For all they can tell you're standing right next to them while they die.

Pease explain why you get Hand of midas lategame? i makes no sense! for 150 gold you can get a hyperstone that nearly adds double atc speed! if you rush it, you might be able to make money from using it, but it takes alot of practise. get hyperstone if you want speed.

i wont recommend getting radiance. the enemies will know you are there and will just retreat to the tower. or use a ward, that most people will get always when facing riki. i like linkens and the skill build, but tacs need a littl

I dont like this sentence. Stealth is about being there without enemys realising it. It helps a lot when the enemy team is pushing and one of them has little HP just decided to go back alone.
With ur build, its actually like turning yourself invulnerable (or slightly better because your positioning is vague (cont)

You lose one very important use of the Ulti. if u say they cant attack u although they know ur presence, u are assuming they do not buy wards.

However, the problem is no radiance just makes riki better when enemy do not buy wards.

Elaborate more on how to counter wards and gems etc. 1. Detect the rough location of ward.
2 buy a ward ur self and kill it , when no enemy is nearby.
HOM should be get either early or not at all.
And ur conclusion, LOL. always use backstab, haha!
